The SconeWitch (Beechwood) is a local and charming Ottawa destination, a great break from large chains. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, with menu items including a blueberry scone and Americano coffee, which were both enjoyed, and a fantastic weekend brunch. The brunch plate was delicious, especially the crème fraîche which was very light and refreshing, though the fruit spread was exceedingly sweet. The lemon poppyseed scone was delicious, but the cheddar scone was very disappointing, neither smelling nor tasting like cheddar, and the scrambled eggs stuffed in the scone made it soggy. A café au lait made with oat milk was served hot. The atmosphere is fantastic and shares building space with a bookstore. Staff are friendly, polite, and offer excellent choices, taking extra steps to make sure the order is spot on. However, some reviews note the restaurant is dated, and the lattes are god awful, basically a cup of milk. Disappointing that marmalade is not offered as a spread for dine-in orders.
