McCowan Fish & Chips Reviews

My mother ate the fish from here and she is a West Indian queen and said this was some of the tastiest local fish she ate...hands down 5 plus stars
We tried the haddock, we really enjoyed it, thank you for the recommendation and help. We will definitely come back

McCowan Fish & Chips in Scarborough offers wonderfully crispy halibut and cod with moist, tender fish. The quality of the food is consistent, with no hint of old oil in the batter. The friendly staff provides a welcoming experience, showing genuine care for every customer. It’s a small but serviceable place where customers can usually find a table. The vintage dining experience adds to its charm, making it a place worth bringing friends to enjoy delicious meals. The fish and chips are very good, with excellent halibut and chips that feature good batter and homemade fries that are crispy on the outside and soft inside. While the fish and chips can be oily, they are still tasty. Some customers have noted that the onion rings are stellar, although others found them disappointing. The homemade tartar sauce and coleslaw received mixed reviews. The ambiance makes you feel like you're in the 1960s, but it’s clean and not run down. Prices are very good, making it a spot that many would choose to visit again, especially for the hot and crispy fish and chips.
