“I've heard many praises for Kroran Uyghur Cuisine and was thrilled to experience it firsthand. My visit during Ramadan resulted in a very quiet ambiance, reflecting not on the restaurant's quality but the fasting period observed by its primary clientele. Here’s what I ordered:Lamb Kawap (Kebab): This dish was a highlight, with four large, juicy grilled lamb skewers presented over pita bread, complemented by onion and green onion garnishes. Using a spoon, I transferred the meat to my plate, and enjoyed the meat that was tender and juicy. Smoky and earthy spices enhanced the lamb's natural flavours.Kidney Kawap: A skewer per order, it had a bold, gamey flavour, with a delightful blend of smoky and spicy tastes.Quruq Qorima: An intriguing dry stir-fry featuring short, chewy noodles coated with a savoury and slightly sour sauce, primarily tomato-based. The beef slices and julienned bell pepper added layers of texture and flavour. Dry peppers scared me at first, but the overall taste was surprisingly mild. The restaurant’s ambiance was understated but inviting, with tasteful decor including black tables, light brown walls, and captivating art pieces.A minor inconvenience was the single shared restroom for all genders, which could potentially lead to issues during busier times. Also, the server's availability was limited, understandable given that we were the only patrons. While the dishes were undoubtedly high quality, the total bill was higher than my expectations. A more affordable pricing would have improved my satisfaction with the meal.Overall, I had an authentic and enjoyable meal, marked by quality dishes. However, the cost considerations will influence my decision on planning a return visit for another indulgent culinary adventure.“
“I'm not sure why this isn't higher rated, the food was excellent and the service even better! We had the grill menu for 2 which had an amazing selection of delicious meat, rice and veggies. For dessert we tried the kunefe which was out of this world, amazing end to the meal. Lastly they offer free tea which also happens to be delicious. I highly recommend this place to others. I am more than satisfied.“
“First time here, and so glad we came. You first order at the counter, then you find your seat and wait for them to bring you your food. The service was great. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were quite generous. All the dashes were also very reasonably priced. Our favourite things were the red salad (very tasty and spicy), the beef doner plate, and the falafels. The falafels were very flavorful, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. I think we could've ordered just that and been happy. We finished the meal off with their house black tea that included cloves. Can't wait to go back again when we're in the area.“
“I had an amazing experience at this location , the server we had Buse was amazing , the food my friends and I ordered came really fast and she made it priority especially because we were fasting and came for iftar. The beef lavash I ordered was amazing and the aesthetic of the place is really pretty and extremely clean . Will visit again soon.“
“Pretty decent Pides compared to ones I tried in Toronto. I ordered pear and Gorgonzola. I had my doubts but I was surprised how good it is. Service was nice too.2nd visit didn’t disappoint. Love thanksVegetarian options: Pear ? and Gorgonzola“
“Thank you to all the wonderful staff especially Can for making our evening so delightful. The food was outstanding the service was exceptional and the atmosphere is unmatched. A truly special Turkish experience.Thank you!! Everyone should definitely pop by this spot #adsologist“
“Must try Pizza Pide. Extremely delicious. The adds on the side (sauce, fresh parsley, onions and hot pickles) elevate the taste. Huge variety to choose from and some options for vegetarian.Parking: Plenty of parking at Gerard square across the street.“
“We were looking for a breakfast place to pass the time while a family member had a medical procedure, and decided to try something beyond the usual breakfast chains that are all around now. So glad we stumbled on this small cafe, on the lower level of the Atriums. As we’d started our day quite early we were looking for something substantial, and the Turkish breakfast fit the bill. It is meant to serve two, and came with two simits (similar to a bagel), a dish of menemen (scrambled egg in a tomato/pepper/onion sauce, with sausage), and a platter of spreads and toppings. We subbed coffee for the included tea.It was our first time having Turkish breakfast so I don’t have a baseline to compare it to, but we enjoyed it quite a bit. The simits were fresh and the variety of toppings really made this meal. There is limited dine-in space, but most folks were just grabbing coffee and pastry to go, so that wasn’t a problem. I saw a review from a few months ago noting that it was quite dark—perhaps they have improved the lighting since, because it was plenty bright on our visit. We took a few pastries to go for later in the day. The pear and almond tart was a favourite, and the chocolate-walnut cookie was delicious too. The almond croissant was tasty but not the best I’ve had. Do note, if it is a concern for you, that most of the pastries contain nuts, and they are all in a shared bakery case. This was not an issue for our party but someone with a nut allergy might not find much here they could sample. The lunch sandwich menu sounded amazing, and if we’re in the area again we would return midday to try that!“
“Amazing quality food for a great price! Our favorite. Everything is delicious. We normally get the beef Doner wrap and they do it with their fresh in-house bread, and The beef is soo tender and tasty we can’t get enough. The Mediterranean salad is top notch too. We always make a point to visit when we are in the area. The complimentary tea is a Turkish tradition and a chef’s kiss“
“After seeing from the street that they had ice cream, we stopped in. But it turned out to be way more than a dessert shop. We had unique coffees and other Turkish drinks and confections. Our waitresses, Elif, was friendly and explained different foods to us. The next day our friends that we visited with suggested breakfast at Mado. Elif was there and suggested an amazing breakfast spread which didn’t disappoint. We’ll definitely be back!“
“What an amazing surprise. This place has authentic Turkish food, the staff were incredibly kind, and the food was amazing. The menu may be small, but anything you order will be fantastic. Do not overlook this hidden gem if you are looking to have some delicious Kofte Kebab, meats, rice, and breads. Definitely returning for more!“
“The food was very flavourful. We had the chicken donor and beef kabob. The beef and chicken were tender and tasty. We had the lentil soup which was hearty and delish. Baklava & Turkish tea was delightful. Very kind to have the tea on the house. Would definitely come back and would recommend.“
