“A good friend from Montreal, was in Toronto today, and an acquaintance who we haven't seen for some time, and Bill and I met for a late lunch at the 'House on Parliament', (454 Parliament St. - west side of the St., south of Carlton St.). Someone recommended to us and it was our first visit there. The staff were friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was great, the food (great menu) was delicious, and the prices were fair! I had the 'Vodka cured smoked salmon' with fresh basil cream cheese, capers, cucumber, red onion confit and crostini. Very fresh and very tasty. The others also really enjoyed their meal too. If you're ever in the vicinity, I would highly recommend going there. Check out their page on fb to see some great pics of the food they serve. We will definitely go back there...“

“Great buck a shuck deal at Bar Hop, and so excited that we got to enjoy some yummy oysters and drinks! The vibe was perfect, as the music was not too loud, and our hostess checked in on us a couple of times to ensure we were having a good time!“

“Visiting from Denver, CO. Found this place by chance and it is excellent. Chris is friendly and more importantly knowledgeable about the local beers he serves. We're only in town for a few days but we will stop in every night that were in Toronto.“

“How have I not been here before? I have been missing out on this cute little pub on the Danforth. We enjoyed cocktails made beautifully and had a delicious meal - including bangers and mash, beef dip and chicken schnitzel.
Food was delicious and well priced and the service was efficient and friendly. It is in such a great location, I can see why they are busy.“

“Looking for a new, favourite haunt? We highly recommend the Prohibition Social House. Located in the Riverside Neighbourhood on Queen Street just across the bridge from the Distillery District and known as the small town in a big city. The ambiance is subdued with low lighting and soft music, creating an inviting, friendly and intimate atmosphere. We dined 2 evenings while visiting nearby family. The menu is creative, diverse and complete, which would satisfy tastes from the basic to the more discriminating palates. Beer and wine selections were impressive and very reasonably priced, especially during their 2 different happy hours. Our servers were Victoria and Talia, both of whom were courteous, friendly, personable, highly engaging and extremely professional. We were also warmly welcomed by management staff. Customer service was outstanding. These qualities and the food made us return customers. On the first evening, we thoroughly enjoyed battered mushrooms, tuna tartare, cob salad and the famous Prohibition burger. The mushrooms were not the standard button variety, but specialty oyster mushrooms coated in a light breading, quick fried and served over greens with a very flavourful aioli sauce. The elegant bluefin tuna tartare was fresh, succulent and professionally presented. The cob salad was fairly standard, but plentiful. The meal highlight was the burger. The Prohibition Social House grinds their own beef, meaning that you can order your burger cooked from rare to well done. I ordered mine medium rare. Complete with fries it was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious, served on a brioche bun with fixings on the side so that you can tailor your burger to preference. All food (other than the salad) was piping hot. The burger was so delicious, I also ordered it on the second evening. No disappointment here… once again, it was consistently impeccable. During our second visit, we also ordered the battered calamari. Again, lightly breaded served over greens with another very flavourful aioli sauce and cooked to a delicate exactness. We also ordered the mushroom ravioli, which was served in a delectable creamy, bechamel sauce. Portions were perfect. All in all… an awesome and impressive dining experience. Well done folks and thank you! We will be back. Quoting a onetime TV show… “You gotta’ eat here!” Phil and Wendy H. (London, Ontario)“

“Been coming here for over 3 years now. We were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday so we decided to make a reservation this time. I requested the booth, but it was a bit short notice, so it was already occupied. Unfortunately, no one acknowledged our special occasion, which is okay but it would've been nicer. The server was great, but it seemed like they were a bit short-staffed. The food was amazing, with generous portions. Lovely ambience as well. We will be coming back, hopefully these small things were just a coincidence“

“Was running around trying to find somewhere to grab a bite before a show- we happened upon this place - first time there. It was a very very busy evening, but the staff made every effort to squeeze us in, were very professional and courteous and really enjoyed the food. The vegetables in particular were all cooked perfectly- which seems rare somehow and the staff were really attentive to my allergies. Can't wait to go again.“

“Had a great experience recently at The Commoner. The three of us enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the elevated NYC-style pub/cafe, and the extensive collection of beers on tap. We had local laugers that were excellent and the food was fast and satisfying. The standout was the crispy chicken breast sandwich, just perfect. Steaks were done to perfection and the truffle fries were out of this world. For a casual but upscale neighbourhood spot with great vibes, The Commoner is a stand out favourtite.“

“The Thai red curry was just amazing, reminds me of my trip to Chiang Mai. The seafood pasta with mussels was also great. All made in house. Rare find in area. Great craft beer. A hidden gem from all the places in the area that serve basic chicken wings and deep fried offerings. The entrance is not desirable, but was told the entrance is being renovated.“

“Tucked in the enclave of Leslieville is this gem of a restaurant Goods and Provisions. The ambiance is great with warm wood paneling on the walls and low warm tone lighting. The wall decorations are eclectic and help create the vibe. I was impressed with the playlist as well and was told that it was the owners fav song selections.
However the star of this restaurant is the food. Shared steak tartare and duck frites. The steak tartare was fresh and vibrant and the toasty bread was an excellent accompaniment. The duck was tender and juicy and the jus on the fries was great.
I had the grilled octopus as well which was served on a crisp hash brown that was divine. This was one great meal. The server informed us that the menu changes weekly. How wonderful! A small menu done well.
I will definitely be returning.“

“Hoyra is such a great place to eat! The food tastes fresh, the portions are generous, and everything comes out nicely prepared. “I loved this pub so much I got married here! We had a small ceremony (20 people) on the dreamy back patio and a medium reception (55 people) on the upper floors. Steve and his staff were a dream to work with. I won't get into all the details but it was like working with a proper wedding planning team with the benefit (and cost!) of a casual, cozy pub wedding. Everyone raved about the food and the staff.“

“We dined at Local 1794 to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. The restaurant was very busy so we were initially seated at a smaller high top table. But our server, Kyle, knew it was a special occasion for us so moved us to a booth. We really appreciated that. We both enjoyed margarita pizzas that were cooked to perfection and delicious. We love this place!“

“My friend and I visited for dinner and drinks, and the service from start to finish was impeccable.
Every staff member was attentive from the moment we stepped foot in the bar. Our glasses were never empty, we never had to wait to place orders, everyone took their job seriously but were always friendly and courteous. Plus: The food was great, and the location is a 30 secondwalk from Rosedale station. I would definitely come back and recommend others to pay a visit.“
“The Paddock has been around for decades and is one of the best dive bars. It was slated to close after Covid but the landlord let them sign a new lease. They made it bigger by knocking out a wall at the back and that is where they have renovated the place to put a stage there for the live music. Prices are not bad, staff are great and the place has a really good feel to it. Glad to see it is staying around for a while longer“

“On Saturday, November 23, 2024 me and my triplet sisters hosted our 50th Decades Themed Birthday Party!!! We had a blast! The Kingston House Restaurant is a hidden treasure. The event space downstairs was the perfect venue exactly what we were looking for. The owner Chris and his staff were very generous and accommodating which helped us create an unforgettable and memorable experience for us and our guests. The food and service were excellent and they let us decorate! If you are looking for a restaurant that feels like family with a warm and friendly atmosphere then this is the place for you!“
