“Honestly… I was completely shocked when I tried gimbap from Menkatsu for the first time. I’m not the type of person who eats “basic” kimbap. I always go for spicy pork or tuna gimbap, something with flavor. I never choose the regular one because I think it’s too blend for my preference.

But one day I saw someone eating the basic gimbap at the food court, and it just looked so good. Even the smell was amazing. So I ordered it just to try… and WOW.

I’m not exaggerating, it was insane. I’ve never had a basic gimbap that good in my life. From that day, I kept thinking about it. Even after a rough day, I’d find myself wanting that gimbap and nothing else.

So whenever I had time, I would literally drive 25 minutes one way just to buy it. But one day, I went there and… they told me they don’t make gimbap anymore. I was honestly extremely heartbroken. They said it was because not enough people were buying it, but… I was really shocked and so sad.
If I had never tasted it, maybe I wouldn’t care. But now that I know how good it was, I can’t stop thinking about it. And I can’t find that taste anywhere else.

I truly hope the owner will reconsider. That basic kimbap was really something special. I sincerely hope it comes back.

차라리 그 김밥 맛을 모르고 살았으면 덜 힘들었을 텐데 그 맛을 알아버려서 더 미치겠는 거예요. 어디에서도 그 맛을 찾을 수가 없어요.

“Service was excellent. We were greeted and seated immediately after walking through the door. Servers came by frequently to give extra napkins. And the bibs + hairtie are a nice touch.

Food was exceptional. We were craving some delicious hand pulled noodles and these did not disappoint. Noodles had the perfect hand pulled texture. They were springy, and the perfect vessel for the broth and meat. We also ordered some side dishes (numbing chicken, dumplings and cold starters). All very tasty. Will definitely go back if we are in Toronto again.“

“Such a hidden, local gem! We were looking for a late night bite and stumbled on this noodle spot. Flavours are homey and comforting, and they make their own noodles. Staff are friendly but don't expect 5 star service, as to be expected in Asian dining. It's one of those no-fuss restaurants that quickly become your go-to spot when you don't know what to eat for dinner. Quite affordable and portions are generous. Interiors reminisce of walking the streets of Asia. We will definitely be back!“

“五谷渔粉 Wu Gu Fish Noodle - there are kind of 2 五谷渔粉 in GTA area, Markham and Richmond Hill. But as far as I understand, they are not related, only the Chinese names are same, but the English names are different.
There is also one in Vancouver but I doubt it is related to this Richmond Hill location.

The outside looks old (as it took over another old restaurant), but the interior was renvoated, but it is good.

Noodles and the soups are great. Also, they offer free noodle refill“

“We come down from Barrie because we love the dishes.
Consistently delicious dishes but pakoras (appetizer) NEVER come out first, even when ordered 10 mins before mains. I know their prep takes time but I’m not in so much rush. I don’t want to say it ruins the meal, but it isn’t nice to get appetizers long after mains are brought to table. This has been a consistent problem but I found a work-around.

Dined in yesterday again and only ordered pakoras. When they arrived at the table I then ordered dry Manchurian beef and Chicken Hakka noodles. I must say the meal was delicious. The pakoras were crispy but so moist and juicy inside with fresh herbs visible. Large and super hot (temp and spice)— the way I love them. I can’t get these dishes in Barrie, not made like Hakka No One Finch makes.“
