“Service was excellent. We were greeted and seated immediately after walking through the door. Servers came by frequently to give extra napkins. And the bibs + hairtie are a nice touch.

Food was exceptional. We were craving some delicious hand pulled noodles and these did not disappoint. Noodles had the perfect hand pulled texture. They were springy, and the perfect vessel for the broth and meat. We also ordered some side dishes (numbing chicken, dumplings and cold starters). All very tasty. Will definitely go back if we are in Toronto again.“

“Such a hidden, local gem! We were looking for a late night bite and stumbled on this noodle spot. Flavours are homey and comforting, and they make their own noodles. Staff are friendly but don't expect 5 star service, as to be expected in Asian dining. It's one of those no-fuss restaurants that quickly become your go-to spot when you don't know what to eat for dinner. Quite affordable and portions are generous. Interiors reminisce of walking the streets of Asia. We will definitely be back!“

“五谷渔粉 Wu Gu Fish Noodle - there are kind of 2 五谷渔粉 in GTA area, Markham and Richmond Hill. But as far as I understand, they are not related, only the Chinese names are same, but the English names are different.
There is also one in Vancouver but I doubt it is related to this Richmond Hill location.

The outside looks old (as it took over another old restaurant), but the interior was renvoated, but it is good.

Noodles and the soups are great. Also, they offer free noodle refill“

“I ordered two items from the menu. The Vietnamese Crab Noodle Soup ($22.95) - I was pleasantly surprised that it came with a soft shell crab, on the side. And the Vietnamese Special Platter ($32.95). Both tasted good, but I was a bit disappointed with the amount of protein that came with the platter. I heard the restaurant provides complimentary soft service ice cream at the end of the meal, but it was not offered to me.“

“Big Beef Bowl Hand-Pulled Noodle is such a long standing spot in Markham for a good reason.

Their lunch is tasty, fast, and inexpensive. $25 lunch combo for two people (Mon, Tues, and Thurs, opens at 11AM). It comes with 1 hot clay pot rice, 1 soup noodle, and a decent sized snack. A few choices for each of these items. Check the menu out. Honestly can't ask for more and this is why it gets jam packed easily at lunch time. Good news is that people are usually eat-and-go without sticking around for long. So even with the crowd, you might be able to get a seat in 10~15 min during the busiest time. Alternatively, quite a bit of people simply call-in for takeout's and Uber.

“Honestly… I was completely shocked when I tried gimbap from Menkatsu for the first time. I’m not the type of person who eats “basic” kimbap. I always go for spicy pork or tuna gimbap, something with flavor. I never choose the regular one because I think it’s too blend for my preference.

But one day I saw someone eating the basic gimbap at the food court, and it just looked so good. Even the smell was amazing. So I ordered it just to try… and WOW.

I’m not exaggerating, it was insane. I’ve never had a basic gimbap that good in my life. From that day, I kept thinking about it. Even after a rough day, I’d find myself wanting that gimbap and nothing else.

So whenever I had time, I would literally drive 25 minutes one way just to buy it. But one day, I went there and… they told me they don’t make gimbap anymore. I was honestly extremely heartbroken. They said it was because not enough people were buying it, but… I was really shocked and so sad.
If I had never tasted it, maybe I wouldn’t care. But now that I know how good it was, I can’t stop thinking about it. And I can’t find that taste anywhere else.

I truly hope the owner will reconsider. That basic kimbap was really something special. I sincerely hope it comes back.

차라리 그 김밥 맛을 모르고 살았으면 덜 힘들었을 텐데 그 맛을 알아버려서 더 미치겠는 거예요. 어디에서도 그 맛을 찾을 수가 없어요.
