“Jonny the waiter was not only attentive, but also so catering to the needs of our group. He made sure our drinks were always topped up during the live band also while caring for a full out door patio. Matty in the back who carried out my steak did an incredible job not only was it cooked to satisfactory but it was above and beyond what my expectations were I had the best experience I could have asked for and would recommend to anyone i possibly could.

“The food was great, I had jerk chicken, rice and peas, and slaw on the side. I’m still trying to figure out what the dressing on the slaw was because it tasted so fresh and fruity instead of that gross mayo type sauce that a lot of people use. I don’t live anywhere near Toronto so I don’t know when I’ll get the chance to visit again, but highly recommend!“

“For our first night in Toronto for a girls' trip, we had dinner at Chubby's given the good reviews and me mentioning wanting to try the various Caribbean spots during our stay. The decor gives island vibes with the wooden furniture and tranquil color choice for decor. Staff were all pretty helpful, with you waiter being pretty attentive.

For my drink, I ordered the rum punch which was pretty good in the balance of flavorand alcohol content. In terms of food, the portions for my entree (Oxtail Stew) was a little smaller than I thought but or actually worked out well and was enough. The oxtail was cooked down, well seasoned and tender, but I felt like I got a lot of pieces that were just bone or pretty fatty. The other food/Likkle bites I ordered to share with one of my friends were also very good. The Pepper Shrimp definitely had a heavy kick of spice to it and tasty. I really enjoyed the Saltfish (Cod) Fritters - they were tasty, had a good chutney to go with it. The plantains were cooked perfectly so that they stayed soft.

All in all, we had a good dining experience.“

“Stacey's has excellent value - great food at reasonable prices. The viral oxtail patty was absolutely delicious (although a bit on the greasy side, the bottom of the container was swimming in fat). There are some small bones in the oxtail so be careful when eating. I would definitely come back for more oxtail dishes!

We also tried the curry chicken roti, which had tons of chicken and not very many potatoes (compared to other roti places where the roti is almost 70% potato). The jerk chicken poutine was also good; fries were decent and the jerk chicken was very flavourful.

You should expect a line during the lunch rush on weekdays (from 12-1) so plan around that if you're in a rush. We visited during the busy lunch hour and had to wait over half an hour for our food.

It's mostly a takeaway place though they do have two tables if you want to dine in.“

“Small restaurant with a super hospitable, approachable and friendly staff. While dining, there was nice reggae music playing in the background. Typical Jamaican restaurant menu with a few unique items and custom drinks. The food was average tasting and well presented. I was educated about the history and how the restaurant was established which was enjoyable. “Gerry's Fine Foods: A Taste of Jamaica (with a pleasant surprise!)

I recently visited Gerry's Fine Foods, and I have to say, their Jamaican patties are absolutely incredible. The crust is a true standout – light, flaky, and wonderfully buttery, providing the perfect contrast to the flavorful filling. And speaking of the filling, it hits all the right notes with just the right amount of spice, delivering that authentic kick without being overpowering.

My only minor critique, when comparing them to some other local spots, is that the filling does feel a bit less in quantity. However, this is easily overlooked when you consider the overall quality.

What truly surprised me was that I had just returned from a trip to Jamaica, and honestly, Gerry's patties were so much better! Go figure! They truly nail the flavor profile and texture.

“Sometimes the food is okay but it's a hit or miss. Recently bought a curried goat & Rice dinner Recently, it had too much gravey and the meat seemed as if they scraped the bottom of the pot. Sometimes the food is very salty and customer experience needs to be improved. Being courteous and pleasant goes a long way.“

“Wow wow wow!! Everything a out this place deserves 5 stars. The owner greets you as you walk in with a smile and a welcomed conversation. The variety of food makes the choices difficult but I've had a few different ones. The curry chicken is absolutely amazing, colourful and a ton of flavour. The ackee and salt fish is the best I've had, and the red-pea soup is lip smacking. I would highly recommend this little gem spot if you haven't tried it yet!“
