“Jonny the waiter was not only attentive, but also so catering to the needs of our group. He made sure our drinks were always topped up during the live band also while caring for a full out door patio. Matty in the back who carried out my steak did an incredible job not only was it cooked to satisfactory but it was above and beyond what my expectations were I had the best experience I could have asked for and would recommend to anyone i possibly could.

“Took a wrong turn while coming home and found this hidden gem. Starting from owner Chris he greeted us like family and took his time to prepare our food. We got jerk chicken with rice and peas and oxtail with plain rice. Next he offered us fresh special cane juice if we were interested and thank God we said yes because OMG the juice which he made fresh for us we had never tried anything like that before. This juice was a mixture of Sugarcane, cocunet water fresh ginger and lime, it was so refreshing on the ice. Food smelled and tasted great and you can feels Chris passion and love for his cooking in the food. We will definitely be back to try more stuff and I would recommend it 100% if anyone is looking for a amazing, authentication Jamaican food“

“The food was great, I had jerk chicken, rice and peas, and slaw on the side. I’m still trying to figure out what the dressing on the slaw was because it tasted so fresh and fruity instead of that gross mayo type sauce that a lot of people use. I don’t live anywhere near Toronto so I don’t know when I’ll get the chance to visit again, but highly recommend!“

“Nice ambiance, great food (salty for me). Service seems to be improved. The bathroom sink was blocked when I got I the restaurant. We ordered the appetizer, then nothing until everyone else in the restaurant got their food including those who came later than us. Called the waitress, the manager seemed to try to explain, but we all knew what happened. We don't need an explanation, we need an apology.“

“A hidden gem we never knew existed! If you're craving Carribean food, this place says it all! First time ordering here after searching for a nearby place that sells oxtail and curry goat. The portion is very generous and the oxtail falls off the bone and is marinated very well. The coleslaw adds some freshness and is a nice side dish to have to cut down the rich flavour. The server was really nice and served us with a smiling face. He is very confident that their dishes are really good and that we'll love it. A Goldstar indeed! A must visit whenever in this area.“

“Great local Scarborough food spot for Caribbean cuisine.
Their jerk chicken on rice and beans was delicious! Large chunks of tender chicken pieces. The rice was not dry, in fact the gravy from the chicken and beans almost gave it a nice creamy/moist texture that complimented the dish along with the slaw.
Their portions are huge and the price is very affordable for what you get. I ordered their large and couldn't finish it.

“Small restaurant with a super hospitable, approachable and friendly staff. While dining, there was nice reggae music playing in the background. Typical Jamaican restaurant menu with a few unique items and custom drinks. The food was average tasting and well presented. I was educated about the history and how the restaurant was established which was enjoyable. I recently visited Gerry's Fine Foods, and I have to say, their Jamaican patties are absolutely incredible. The crust is a true standout – light, flaky, and wonderfully buttery, providing the perfect contrast to the flavorful filling. And speaking of the filling, it hits all the right notes with just the right amount of spice, delivering that authentic kick without being overpowering.

My only minor critique, when comparing them to some other local spots, is that the filling does feel a bit less in quantity. However, this is easily overlooked when you consider the overall quality.

What truly surprised me was that I had just returned from a trip to Jamaica, and honestly, Gerry's patties were so much better! Go figure! They truly nail the flavor profile and texture.

“Sometimes the food is okay but it's a hit or miss. Recently bought a curried goat & Rice dinner Recently, it had too much gravey and the meat seemed as if they scraped the bottom of the pot. Sometimes the food is very salty and customer experience needs to be improved. Being courteous and pleasant goes a long way.“
