“Excellent pasta, made quickly. Great for a quick lunch or a casual dinner. You're served warm bread with your meal and there are no wrong choices here—I'd recommend the chicken marsala. The folks who work here offer great service and it's got a lovely Italian-American bistro vibe.“

“Staged a good-sized wine dinner in the private room (34 people). Fantastic food & service, even with a full restaurant on a busy Sunday night. Michael and his team do a wonderful job- all the dishes were beautiful, inventive, and delicious. Don't sleep on the "Olive Oil Cake" for dessert- your taste-buds and waistband will thank you.“

“Came in for lunch with a group that really needed service that went a cut above. Our server was Alberto and he was a rock star. The food came out hot and fresh and refills, from soup, salad, bread sticks and water were all attended to. We had a great experience and we will be back.“

“First time at Don's, and they managed the impossible: they fed me things I usually hate, and I loved every bite. It's also an absolute gem for romance—perfect for an anniversary or just a top-tier date night. The antipasto was a knockout—Dungeness crab with a hint of heat paired perfectly with a fresh popover. Even the Oyster Casino won me over, and I normally don't touch oysters. They even pulled off a Gorgonzola iceberg salad that I couldn't stop eating. Don has this incredible knack for balancing flavors so perfectly that my "no-go" ingredients became the highlights of the night. A total win for a special night out. I'll definitely be back. Unfortunately no pictures because the food was gone before I remembered to take a picture :).“

“The food and flavors at Dolly Olive were so unique in a good way. Items are served family style and meant to be shared with the recommendation of 2 dishes per person which seems about right. We left feeling satisfied and full but not overstuffed.
We ordered everything at the same time, and the kitchen delivered the dishes at appropriate times. We were served the warm, marinated olives and Dolly Caesar Salad at the same time, and both were very delicious. The Caesar salad has some twists to the traditional Caesar that worked well and was not heavy at all. Next up were the mushroom ravioli with a lemon sauce that was divine, and raviolis that had a great balance of pasta to mushroom filling. Our 4th dish was the eggplant parmigiana, and it may be the best version of this dish we’ve ever had. We were trying to figure out how they got the flavors so deep and smoky from the cheese to the eggplant and the marinara sauce. Our last savory dish was the crispy chicken confit which was bursting with such different textures and flavors that one wouldn’t think would go together, but they do.
After looking at the dessert menu, we decided to split the cannoli which was plentiful for 2 people. Similar to the salad, it wasn’t a traditional cannoli. The shell seemed more of an Asian eggroll shell, and we couldn’t figure out the underlying flavor in the chocolate filling. When we got a bit of the shell, filling, and caramel topping in one bite — oh my how good.
The service was very attentive as we had a main server, but it seems the entire front of the house staff ensures efficient (but not rushed) service. Our food was delivered by 4 different people other than our main server, and we had a 4th person clean our table after our ‘mains’ and before dessert. Everyone seemed focused on ensuring we had a great experience and enjoyed every bite.
Our bill came to $125 before tip which we thought was reasonable and a good value.“

“The food is insanely delicious here. And with beautiful presentation. Service is top notch. Like fold your napkin when you're in the restroom level of service. Plus the servers provide detailed descriptions of the food and drinks when asked. You can tell they've studied the menu more than most. I would give more stars if I could.“

“This place was delicious and the perfect valentines spot! We weren’t feeling either of the dessert items and they found us a different option that was off menu. Such an amazing staff and delicious food. I could eat only their pesto gnocchi for the rest of my life and die happy. Highly recommend!“

“By far the best dining experience I've had in Oregon, our server was exceptional, our glasses were never empty and the food was delicious, we had 2 entrees, an appetizer and desert, the whole experience was under 100 dollars for an amazing meal. Will definitely be returning to try the rest of their menu.“

“We had a great evening! Celebrated our adult son’s birthday! Excellent food and a very good and friendly server! Love this place! And our six year old had his front tooth fall out into a plate of pasta! Don’t worry, we found it :) He was so excited!“

“Charming ambiance, phenomenal meal, and excellent service. Thank you Abigail for waiting on us. I regret it's taken us so long to find our way back here. Still as great as it was a few years ago. That's a testament to a great owner and team. We really enjoyed the bruschetta appetizer, creative mocktails, the king salmon and Dungeness crab pasta specials, and the best tiramisu in all of Portland! See you again soon!“

“I walked up to order and saw loads of basil in front of me getting ready to be turned into something delicious. I ordered a small order of arancini balls. I was delighted that I could choose different ones on the same order. They had 4 varieties and all sounded amazing. I ordered the original mozz and the pepperoni and mozz. Then I could choose from 4 different sauces and I chose the original marinara. These were so good along with the sauce that I can’t wait to go back and try all of them but next time I’m ordering the large for sure! Additionally I ordered the Italian chopped salad and added grilled chicken and soppressata dry cured ham. It was an explosion of flavors! The grilled chicken was so good along with the ham. I can’t wait to go back and try more. Next I’m trying either the eggplant parm sub of the vegan pesto pasta, especially after witnessing the mound-o-basil. I won’t be forgetting the large aracini balls either ;)“

“The server was really great. I didn’t catch his name, but he was super helpful. He told me I could mix Alfredo and pesto sauce and I wish more restaurants would offer that. Especially love their pesto - it’s super garlicky in a great way. Brought my newborn and we sat inside - he quickly took a nap.“

“Legitimately one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever experienced in the US. I have lived in Italy and my husband is Italian and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our dinner. The wine selection is varied and thoughtfully curated. We enjoyed a bottle of Sardinian Carignano which is a rare find in the states. The prices are more than reasonable. We had a lovely locally sourced steak that melted in the mouth for $32. Bread is homemade fresh TWICE daily and the meat and cheeses were top quality If you’re looking for AUTHENTIC Italian in Portland, look no further. Nero Gallo has it all; great food, prices, staff, atmosphere and we will most definitely be back.“

“This is a casual place offering handmade pasta, wine, beer, some cocktails and several non-alcoholic beverages. You order at the register where you walk in and they serve your drinks immediately and bring your food when it's ready. I had the potato gnocchi and loved it! Others had things they enjoyed, but had some critical comments: the spaghetti was a bit underdone, but the meatballs were incredibly delicious; the pizza pockets were just okay. We had a bottle of rose and it was good. The atmosphere is light industrial - booths and high tables that are not very comfortable, but the medium-sized restaurant space is filled with light, wooden tables and chairs, and stainless steel (kitchen visible). You could watch pasta being made and dried on racks, which was kinda fun. I will try it again as 23rd Street is a favorite place to explore, shop and eat!“

“Holy 5-alarm fire! I got the Fusiili ala Vodka, which I know is supposed to have some heat, but this one —- it’s like the cap fell off the jar of chili flakes! I still loved it - the pasta was perfectly cooked, the pork shoulder was bursting with great spices, but I was still facially sweating through the whole meal. We got their Caesar salad too, which was excellent, not too much dressing and just the right amount of anchovies. The real deal, and helped cool off my lips.
Grassa has their counter service food model down pat, and the meals come out fairly quick, fresh and hot, so thumbs up there. Service is up and down, depending on how slammed they are, but I give them a pass since they do do aLOT of takeout orders and are not meant to be table service. Love that they have beer, wine and some cocktails too.
This location works well for all the reasons stated above, but we often get our food to go — the ambiance here is not that great. Strip-mall -modern-meets industrial in a cold, cavernous space does not make you want to linger. No thanks.“

“The only thing my daughter and I don't like is the bread that is served with the pasta, and is also used to make the Panini. The bread is so bad… I don't recommend the Panini.
My favorites are the Carbonara and Gnocchi.“

“Unfortunately for my wallet, this place is excellent. I’ve seen it on Ubereats multiple times and always avoid it despite exceptional reviews, because $25 for to-go lasagna? Well, tonight the cravings won and this skeptic is now a full blown believer. HOLY SMOKES, this is good food. And whatever witchcraft they are doing to keep it hot is actually insane to me. My order time was 6pm, order done for 6:25pm pickup, wasn’t delivered until 7:25pm. I already had the oven on, ready to receive some cold pasta… but to my surprise, my food was hot. They truly must have taken it right out of the oven and handed it to the poor delivery driver with oven mits on. I still popped the garlic bread in the oven to refresh it a bit (which worked perfectly - if the bread seems a bit stale, just wake it up in the oven for a minute and it’s good as new).
The lasagna itself, the “Lasagna Emiliana” to be precise, was divine. Loaded with meat, felt very light on the pasta, easily a portion for two meals (unless you’re a huge eater). The sauce is to die for (can I ask for extra? Please?).
I’m excited to try more on the menu but I have a feeling I’m going to be coming back for that lasagna. It’s just… so, so good. Wow.
I can much more easily justify $25 lasagna (+ delivery fees) now that I know it’s dinner AND lunch 😉
Wanted to note; I don’t eat a lot of Italian food in this area because it’s typically disappointing. But I wouldn’t hesitate to order from here again, nor would I hesitate to eat at Pizzeria La Sorrentina (closer to Camas, excellent very authentic food) if you’re NEEDING an in person dining Italian spot. BUT, Little Italys has a larger, more typical Italian menu, and are much heavier handed with the meat than La Sorrentina (which is important to me!). If you’re looking for neopolitan pizza though, go to Sorrentina!“

“So Grassa is... solid. it’s definitely decent for fresh pasta, but didn’t change my life.
The carbonara was good, just super rich. Cool casual vibe if you’re nearby, but I wouldn't wait in a huge line for it tbh. Reliable, just not crazy.“
“Sunday Sauce was good. The cheesy garlic bread was gooey and satisfying. The pesto pasta was good. The rigatoni was good.
My father-in-law got the signature dish, Sunday Sauce, and was really disappointed as it was VERY meat heavy and didn't really have any sauce. He lived in North Jersey for 30 years so was really looking forward to some hearty sauce, but was pretty disappointed. Atmosphere was cute. We waited about 35 minutes on a Wednesday night.“

“I had one of the best dishes that I have ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth. Upon the waitresses enthusiastic recommendation (she seemed really excited about it) I went with the Boscaiola with pasta instead of ravioli. Every bite I took I closed my eyes to just enjoy the explosion of flavors. Hands down best food ever. Highly recommend but don’t forget your reservation!“

“Lombardos is on its way to being a neighborhood institution, the owner is incredibly friendly and is tipping his homage to his New Jersey pizza roots. When I went in they were sold out of everything except their bar pie. A light crispy crust with a zesty sauce and perfectly caramelized cheese. They only prep about 40 or so pies a day but the restaurant clearly has room to expand and for their sake I hope the community floods them with business until they are forced to do so. Truly reaching those east coast roots I highly recommend making the trip into St. John’s for this wonderfully done pie where you will find true beauty in its simplicity.“

“I went here for dinner with my husband. OMG! I loved how spacious and buzzing this place was for dinner service on Saturday night.
The service was amazing! I think her name was Katie(?) but she took such good care of us and even recommended some dishes we should try.
