“I was visiting Coburg and I was told by the locals that it had the best pizza around. So I promptly went to order pizza not knowing what kind to get. I spent $21 on a small pepperoni pizza and had requested additional fresh vegetables over the top. The order was to go. I returned home and attempted to eat the pizza. It tasted like smoke with burnt pepperoni on a thin crust that was like shoe leather with barely any sauce on it. There were small chopped up pieces that looked like bell pepper, but nothing that surrounded it with rings of fresh vegetables over the top like the picture on the menu had shown. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong kind of pizza. I was expecting a nice thick fresh crust that was oozing with cheese and sauce. That was not the case. The young man at the cash register was very kind. However, the pizza still hovers a taste of smoke in my mouth with no satisfaction of a delicious pizza. I most likely will not return.
My initial review does not stand true as I went back to discuss the issue with the previous pizza that I had ordered. The young man behind the counter was very helpful and helping me Select a replacement pizza. You can see the difference with the two photos below one was the pepperoni pizza that was burnt, and the other was a vegetarian pizza with salami. It was with a thicker crust and more sauce on it. Much more tasty and living up to the standard with which I had been told about this company. I give them a five star now and they will replace your pizza if you are not satisfied.“

“How many times have you thought to yourself? I would love an actual pizza that has, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles style cheese, but nobody makes it like that. Look no more at 40, I’ve been eating here my whole life and I will always get this pizza before any other type of pizza. I asked for a full pizza and owner was incredibly chill and kind in processing my late night dinner. Reasonable cost for size of pizza came to $30, the pizza was huge and without asking he delivered it to me to my car. The taste was absolutely incredible, even my spouse couldn't get over how good it was. Was going to post a photo, but we ate it 1st. It was that good. Wheelchair accessibility: Wide sidewalks, wide doors, and a very open floor plan for any potential space requirements needed.“

“We had an amazing dining experience at Seize The Cafe. The staff was so welcoming, genuine and friendly. The at home atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. The service was spot on. It tastes amazing without too much oil, which is good, but it's only open for a short while each day and has more than enough seating to go around. They also offer canned sodas and garlic knots. They also take tap-to-pay using Square.

Vegetarian options: This location offers a few vegetarian pizzas with extra toppings, but a plain cheese can never do you harm either.

Wheelchair accessibility: There sometimes is very little room in the walkways due to seating, but the area at the counter is clear and the counter itself is a good height, as is the payment terminal.“

“Restaurant was clean. I ordered on my app and when I walked in 20 minutes later, my pizza was ready on the shelf to pick up. I didn't have to talk to anybody, however I still Said hi to the guys that were working there. They were very friendly. I ordered extra on all the toppings and my pizza was so heavy. I want to start by saying New Day Bakery is a beautiful establishment. The food is consistently delicious, the space is clean and inviting, and I genuinely love supporting small businesses like this one. That is the reason I am still giving five stars.

However, the way Kit treated my family during our recent visit was extremely rude and unacceptable.

On a Saturday visit, I brought my family — first-time customers — because I was excited to share a place I truly enjoy. We waited in line about 10 minutes, which was completely reasonable. When my mom politely asked if she could add an egg to her ham and cheese croissant, Kit responded with, “Have you seen our croissants?” The tone was dismissive and sharp. She then said she could charge us for a side of egg instead.

It was never about the egg. We understand policies. It was about the delivery and the attitude. The interaction felt tense and unwelcoming. While it was somewhat busy, there were two cashiers and no overwhelming line. Within minutes, the rush cleared. Yet we were treated as if we were an inconvenience.

What made this worse was what happened afterward.

As my mom stepped away to grab a lid for my brother, Kit attempted to “apologize.” Instead of taking accountability, she told my mom she was sorry for how she approached her but that it was because she needed to use the restroom. My mom responded, “So do you treat people badly because you need to use the restroom?” Kit then added a comment about how when you’re “a woman of a certain age, things happen,” which was completely inappropriate. My mom calmly explained that regardless of the reason, the tone was uncalled for.

Rather than simply owning it with a genuine apology — something as simple as, “I’m sorry, my tone wasn’t necessary” — Kit chose to defend herself by saying she has regulars who absolutely adore her.

That response showed a complete lack of accountability.

This entire exchange happened in front of other customers, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. Customer service is not about whether some people like you. It’s about treating everyone with respect — especially first-time guests who are choosing to support your business.

I am still giving five stars because this bakery truly is wonderful and I want to continue supporting it. But management, please address this behavior. Additional customer service training — particularly around tone, accountability, and handling pressure — is necessary. One employee’s conduct should not overshadow an otherwise amazing establishment.
