Restaurants near Government Camp

“Decent food and a fun rustic facility marred somewhat by indifferent service.
I stopped by on a rainy Saturday early afternoon with a few family members. The restaurant has the look of many buildings in Government Camp, like a little village pulled out of the Swiss Alps. Quaint and rustic.
The food was decent, if not anything to write home about. Fries unsalted and not very crisp, but not exactly soggy. Biscuits that were not flaky but rather soft and doughy. The gravy on them was quite nice. Maple bars that had good flavor but were greasy even by the standards of a deep fried item.
Our waitress never smiled or look any of my party in the eyes. When I made a little joke while paying for my food the man at the register didnt smile. I understand that they were busy and they werent exactly rude but they were also far from friendly.
I am somewhat torn between saying I do or dont recommend it, but am willing to be nice and give four stars since three and a half isnt an option. Maybe they just weren’t having a great day. Hey, we’ve all been there”

“Great establishment in Government Camp! Food is delicious. Matt (owner) is a cool guy, and the staff is great. Dog friendly on the deck. For cocktails, I suggest the Mt. Hood Mule.”

“We sat outside and enjoyed delicious pizza, perfect wings and a stellar spinach salad. The salsa was less than great, but the chips were good. We enjoyed the games and just relaxed. Definitely a must!”

“The pizza was freshly made and delicious after a strenuous hike up from Timberline Lodge to almost Silcox Hut. Portions are generous, and the staff were very friendly.”

“They brought back table service!! So much better now. I hated waiting in line and constantly paying for another drink or waiting in line for appetizer and then going back for drinks and then again for food. THANKS SO MUCH FOR BRINGING BACK TABLE SERVICE. Wish they would allow us to order from both menus. No fries at the bar... kinda weird. Have to walk next door and stand in another line to get fries. Would be cool if we could order from the other food at the restaurant next door without having to leave the bar. Especially if you do not have fries... and regular bar food at your bar. The Torta was amazing. Wish I could have had fries ;)”

“Expensive resort cafeteria food. Pretty tasty as we were so hungry after snow board lessons. Enough available tables. Lines not long. Loud, to be expected with the open seating and high ceilings. Warm and comfortable. Staff seemed short handed, but they came through.”

“Great service and and food, when it finally arrived over 45 minutes after ordering. Table next to us received their food a few minutes after us and were seated 10 minutes before. Staff had no concerns about our meal taking so long.”

“I have never been to mount hood before, and was trying to salvage a trip we had planned before Covid shutdowns complicated our adventure. The representative I spoke with via Skibowl's chat help line on 12/1/20 not only answered my questions promptly but went above and beyond to give me recommendations for our stay that helped us plan some fun while also operating within the governor's covid safety guidelines. It was very appreciated and I will definitely remember how helpful they were when planning future trips.”

“This one is for Dana and whichever kind-hearted chef helped her work some magic on Feb 2nd, 2019. I came in with a very strange request to buy a cup of vegetable oil so I could go back to the camper and cook dinner for my kid. Dana got it. She made it happen. Dinner was awesome. I make it a point to never eat in the lodge at a ski resort, but because of this customer service, I'll be making an exception for the 'Stube next weekend.”

“Best nachos on the mountain, so huge! They have affordable prices and the view off the deck is great watching people on the rope tow park. The day time lady bartender is super friendly and efficient. Only problem is some of the food runners are shy and instead of yelling out numbers they run through the busy crowd with food looking rushed. It's a loud bar, don't be afraid to speak up.”
