“Expect higher prices than normal for blander food than normal -- a reflection of the socioeconomic area and community of Troutdale.

1. Good variety of food and selection of carts.
2. Clean areas and building.
3. Food is typically bland across all the carts compared to other areas such as The Fork in Wood Village, Gresham Food Carts, Rockwood Market, and pretty much any other food cart area around Gresham/Portland. This is 100% due to catering to the taste of Troutdale's community.

For point #3, using the Thai cart and Mexican cart as standards of spice and heat, they don't ask you spice level when you order (no spice by default for Troutdale folks) and spice levels are incredibly low. Medium spice level here is mild compared to other areas. Troutdale just can't handle spice.

If you end up wanting Mexican here, for the love of god, just walk to the Troutdale Burrito Shop.

This place has size and variety going for it. For flavor and saving your wallet, go to other food cart areas.“

“I’m a frequent diner at La Arepa because I love their food and their service. Despite self ordering via a tablet and notification via text when your food is ready, the staff always seems to make an effort to interact with me in a warm friendly way. I almost always get a side of the salad supreme with one of my go to dishes which are the Vegan Pabellon Criollo (rice, impossible grounds, black beans, plantain and avocado slices) or the Vegan Patacon (green plantain sandwich filled with impossible ground beef, vegan Cole slaw, vegan cheese, pickles, and avocado slices). I’ve got a pepper belly and I do wish there was a spicier sauce available but that’s my problem not theirs 🤣“

“oh my oh my goodness I drove all the way from Spokane, five hours btw, because the food here is just sooo amazing. i drove an extra 2 miles just to deliver some to my friends as well, because they wanted to try some top tier russian food. their vareniki here. “Last year I went here for Carne Asada fries, which I really enjoyed. The fries can get cold and hard pretty quick, because you get a LOT of food and it will take you a while to eat it all. I remember that I really enjoyed my birthday meal! I swear what I got had chunks of steak in it - a generous amount.

Yesterday I went with my parents for their anniversary, because Mom had tried my food last year and she's been wanting to go. We don't eat out a lot, money is tight, so special occasions only.

The person who took our order was friendly, the food was good and as before, there was a LOT of it. But this time we got hamburger or some kind of ground meat! Still tasted good as I said, but isn't Carne Asada supposed to be chunks of steak?

So that's why the 4-star review. If you go here for Carne Asada, be sure to verify you are getting steak, not ground beef or whatever. We didn't do this - I didn't know we had to based on my experience last year.

My scoring reflects the fairly tasty food, the friendly service, and the gas station location. Yeah... No atmosphere here! But yes, you can look at the hills, if you can overlook a large, asphalt parking lot, gas station and gas pumps.“
