“Drove 2 hours to get decent kabobs and the Chicken shish did not disappoint! 10/10 on the chicken shish. Owner made us an appetizer that is not on the menu but is delicious comfort food. Hopefully he will add it to the menu in future. Will definitely be back again. Wish it was closer to Eugene.“
“Happy we finally got to eat here after it's been on our list for some time. It didn't disappoint. Our server Stephanie was very helpful in giving us recommendations on what to try and she was very personable. We landed on the brussel sprouts, falafels, and lamb belly. The brussel sprouts were perfect, falafels delicious, and lamb belly was probably the best lamb I've had, though I did think it was a little too charred for my liking. My husband enjoyed his hot toddy and my sweet fruity mocktail surprisingly went really well with dinner. They've chosen good pairings. Cute little place too!“
“First time eating here and had a wonderful experience. Portions were filling and very flavorful. The Lamb was super tender and went well with the sides. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Drinks were priced well and tasted very good. I liked that gratuity was included in the check.Dietary restrictions: Most of the menu is gluten free.“
“I stumbled across Cedo’s a few years ago when I moved to Portland. I looked around at what everyone else was eating, ordered a falafel sandwich with the signature potatoes + hot sauce, and my mind was forever blown. I’ve since also developed great affection for the tabbouleh & hummus sandwich, which is super fresh and delicious (and packs a lemony punch). Eat here if you like local, homemade food in the coziest, friendliest spot around. ❤️“
“I don’t know how authentically Turkish their offerings are, but their döner salads are a cut above salads at other halal carts. You get generous amounts of yogurt dressing, pickles, and olives. They used to include other pickled vege but no longer. Still an excellent halal cart salad. Other offerings are very solid, tho the falafel is a bit blander than other places. The salad is great tho.“
“Truly wonderful restaurant experience. As a larger group, we ordered about 12 dishes, and I truly enjoyed every single one. Favorites from our table were Turkish baked hummus and pita, winter mushrooms, heirloom carrots and falafel. Service was wonderful and all staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I’ve visited a few times before and definitely plan to return again!Dietary restrictions: The restaurant provided a menu with checkmarks for the several dishes that were vegan. I think it was nearly a dozen options.“
“The owner was incredibly kind and had a sly humor! The falafel sandwich was absolutely phenomenal. Every bite had a bit of a different flavor, the falafel were so light and airy like clouds. The pita was soft. And the portions are huge! The sandwich also came with this dipping sauce that was some sort of aioli. She asked about dietary restrictions ("is the Tzatziki sauce okay?) and preferred spice levels. Highly recommend.“
“We have searched high and low for decent Gyros in town and finally found them here. The owners/staff are always friendly and accommodating. The location is fantastic with lots of parking, other food carts around, and John's Marketplace next door. After many visits and orders they have yet to disappoint!“
“Tarboush is such a great Portland restaurant! One of my absolute favorites in town, and it never disappoints. The lamb kabobs are always perfectly cooked and never too tough or chewy. The cold mezza platter is such a delight of different flavors with the accompaniment of freshly made pita.I also absolutely love the grape leaves, which are served warm and are the perfect winter comfort food.“
“Thoroughly delighted. I've been driving by lusting after a gyro for... well, years. Today had to pick up some things at my studio and thought to check out whether I could order online and pick up on the way home. I could and did.The lamb gyro was great with a more than generous amount of meat, and - judging by the progress being made on the Philly Cheese Steak by the picky eater on the other side of the room, it is also entirely satisfying*.Well pleased with the food, and the man behind the food. Gyro King is now on the top of the pickup A list.* Got an enthusiastic Yes from the other party when asked if it was good. That's the first enthusiastic Yes in memory. ?“
“I recently visited a food truck and was blown away by their lamb gyro and fries. The lamb was juicy and flavorful, and the pita was soft and warm. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned, making them an excellent side dish. What really took this food experience to the next level, though, was the spicy dipping sauce. It had just the right amount of heat to give the gyro and fries a delicious kick without overpowering the other flavors. I found myself dipping everything in it, and even asked for extra to take home. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food. I highly recommend this food truck to anyone in the area looking for a satisfying meal with a bit of a kick. Don't miss out on the lamb gyro and fries with that amazing spicy dipping sauce!“
“I have been a couple of times, this time I got the lamb gyro and it was simple and delicious! I don't always like lamb but this was perfect! I will definitely be back. I also like that it's a hole in the wall, tucked into a corner of the convenience store but there are a couple booths and tables so you can sit and eat.“
“A really special family run spot in Portland where we enjoyed a relaxed afternoon lunch. The authentic Syrian flavours were exacerbated by the freshness of ingredients as well as the attentive service by several members of the same family who came here from Syria. We would definitely consider going back to explore some more items on the menu. The baklava however, was not fresh and did leave something to be desired but everything else was brilliant.Vegetarian options: V few“
“This place is one of the best places ever in Portland it's sad now that they don't give out pita bread on their salads been coming here for 20 years and always received bread it was thebest part of the salad. But if that's my only complaint check this place out I wish them another 50 years of business. I wish the best to the old owners on retirement. You guys were amazing people.“
“This is a nice neighborhood deli. Greek and American menu. The Gyro was excellent. My wife had the Chicken Sandwich special and loved it. The beer was nice and cold and the service friendly and efficient. They have an extensive drink list in the room length coolers. Beer, cider, etc. There's a small video lottery machine room and a combo locked restroom. They have an ice cream cooler full of scoop ice cream containers. There are also large cookies for sale. The place is very active with a steady stream of regulars drifting in. It's definitely a multicultural hangout where everyone is greeted like family.“
“What a gem. DarSalam turned a bad night into a great one! Was out with a group of friends for a birthday and when we arrived at the restaurant where we had a reservation…it was closed. No warning. So we walked to DarSalam and they were so nice and we waited for a table for about 15 minutes. Great middle eastern style menu. The mezzanine platter is so good. One of the best falafel in Portland. The tabouli is to die for. So fresh. The chicken kebob plate was delicious with rice and a side of chickpea stew. Service was friendly and helpful. What a great place. We will definitely be back. DarSalam helped make a night ruined by another restaurant down the street into a great night! Thank you!“
“It was way more delicious than the last trip than ever. I used to regularly walk to the Food Villa market as a child and have been going to this little cafe ever since it opened. The service was nice, and we were even given a complementary desert. Great lunch break!“
“I ordered a falafel over salad and waited for quite some time. Apparently, there was some confusion and my order was delayed. When I received my food, there was no charge due to the wait! Not necessary but very kind. Turns out, it was well worth the wait. The falafel and salad were delicious! Thank you, I will return :)“
