“My review is mostly about the staff at this location. We witnessed a kind employee Coby/Kolby/Colby (sorry, one of the three) offer a houseless gentleman a bowl of Mac n cheese, fresh out of the kitchen. I’m just so pleased to see this kind of compassion and behavior, especially at a corporation/chain restaurant. It was very refreshing to see such a small act of kindness out of pure kindness. As for the food, I’ve always liked it.“

“All around amazing experience. Welcoming & knowledgeable staff, delicious flavors, and a cozy home vibe partially due to the fact that it *is* a home (located on the 2nd floor of a house). My friends and I had a great time and loved all the flavors. The duck was my favorite - others raved about the crepe and the black cod. I'd come back for the chocolate crepe alone 🤤“

“Legitimately some of the best pizza I've had in Portland, and that's coming from someone who's been to almost all of the heavy-hitters in town. Tastes obviously vary, but I don't think anyone who likes wood-fired pizza will leave disappointed.
We started with the fresh baked palloncino bread, which was warm & delightfully chewy with a subtle lemony bite. However, it was super salty (and I say this a habitual over-salter). Thankfully the flaky finishing salt was easy to brush off, which tamed the saltiness. We also had the Belgian endive caesar. The crisp endive mixed well with the creamy dressing & the croutons were out of this world (not shocking, really).
For pizzas, we had the leek & hazelnut and the salami supremo. While the cheese and toppings were top notch, the doughy crust was the star. Perfectly charred, yet soft and chewy. Just excellent.
The tiramisu we had for dessert was also very light and dare I say refreshing.
Service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere left something to be desired, but wasn't bad & didn't diminish the experience at all. Just maybe not quite up to par with other places in that price range.

“February 8th, 2026 menu & service was absolutely divine! Start to finish service and all staff present were absolutely charming and very attentive. Presentation was beautiful, the atmosphere felt very warm, cozy and inviting. Plates were absolutely stunning in all ways. The textures in each dish were just so perfect, exciting and unique. The flavors complimented each other so well and each course was perfectly balanced, flowing nicely into the next. Everything was absolutely perfect, the thrill of enjoying such technical yet plant based preperations genuinly brings tears of joy. Thank you so for so perfectly encapsulating the possibilities of plant based foods! 💚💚 We were happy to hear about the recipes staying and going from the menu, we couldn't agree more with the choices. The Kombucha pairings were magical. Meadowland was perfect. The respect payed to plants here, the absolutely mind blowing creativity that leaves you craving more, makes Astera stand out as a historical evolution for plant based flavor, technical creativity, creation, service and passion in the plant based realm in the U.S. Astera is heaven on earth. “Super busy on Father's Day but we were told a 10 min wait and it was 10 min! Great care and hustle from the dining room staff. Food was good, my tamale was excellent and you get a little dish of ice cream after your meal. Very happy with the great service even at the tail end of the lunch rush.“
