“My friend and I visit here every Friday evening. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Especially Jason. He remembers regulars, and is very genuinely caring about the people he serves. The servers, including Lupita, are very prompt and nice. Your drinks never go empty! We prefer this location because it’s not only open until 10pm, but because we have had such pleasant experiences with the staff. Food is pretty darn good too! Fresh breakfast meats and French toast! Thank you!“

“Hard to believe I have lived in Portland for 20 years and have never been to the Original Pancake House. Finally did one morning and was really impressed. So many choices it was hard to decide but of course we had to get one dutch baby to try. Everything was so good and the service was stellar. It’s a busy place so expect a wait and it can get quite loud inside with all the people. Those things aside, I can’t wait to go back again and try more of the menu!“

“I tried a waffle with an egg on top and a side of hashbrowns, and it honestly blew me away. The waffle was light and fluffy, with just the right texture, and the egg on top added a really nice savory balance without overpowering it. The hashbrowns were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. I can tell the owner put a lot of thought into his recipes; everything worked together so well. Highly recommend stopping by yourself or with a couple of friends!“

“Hands down the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had in my life. I’ve tried the regular breakfast sandwich and the Rene and they were both spectacular. Delicious fresh bread and juicy sausage meat. Love the spicy sweet elements from the Rene and already thinking about my next trip to Portland to have it again. Keep up the good work!“

“Stopped by for the Yolko Zeppelin and really enjoyed it. Personally, I think I would’ve liked it even more with just one sausage patty and a little extra cheese, but the flavors were still on point and it definitely hit the spot.
The staff were great — super friendly, easy to talk to, and made the whole experience feel welcoming. I grabbed my sandwich and ate it on the steps at Pioneer Square, watching the city do its thing: a few protesters, a woman yelling about something, nothing too wild… just classic downtown energy.
Overall, really good sandwich, great people, and a fun little moment in the middle of the city. Would definitely come back and try a different one next time.“

“Food! Service! Atmosphere! And Feeling the immediate homey comfort by staff and customers, was just what two weary travelers needed. Met our niece there for breakfast and totally a joy of a cross country trip. Have been in many places across the U S A; and this one is one of major memorable treats. BTW my niece talked me into to trying your Fabulous (Homemade) Green Monster Sauce on my egg omelette and I havent stopped talking or looking for a duplicate since visiting Portland and I live in Ohio! If any one is reading this as a world traveler, believe me when I tell you If you live, or travel in this area, you gotta treat yourself to one of their fabulous stomach filing delicious entries. Really!. Bravo, I never write any kind of reviews in the possitive, I'm old, so I bitch alot. HAHA; But this place so worth the time, the price and contributing to a small family business. Which I totlally look for in any area I visit. I totally believe in supporting family owned local businesses...not the big Guys! Bravo Midpoint. If I lived in the area you'd know me by name as a regular! God Bless. And hope this will inspire the owner into marketing her Green Monster Sauce. One of the best out there. “This place was phenomenal, I came to the food pod on 5tt Ave, and I wanted to try out. You know, variety of things, and then I came across Java Rising Calf. I got their spice apple and OMG, you guys, if you haven't yet, this place is a must try.
Stop their waffles. Which is the base for all their dishes? Was cook to perfection, crispy, golden, and the outside soft, warm, and inside. You mix that up with the spiced. Apple's, the whipped cream, and they have something on top of that whipped crime. I should have asked what it was, but the combination of all those items together just, it was an orgy in my mouth... I forgot I had other foods, I licked the plate, guys.
I dare. to even say I was disappointed at every other food car I tried. I got a lot of food. I came there with a mission, and only one place satisfied my expectations, what I was looking for, right. I pretty much tried about 6 food courts and none of them war satisfactory in both flavor execution, and even though I had it in a togo container. Their Plating, I mean, the way the Sun hit it just right, It was like the holy growl... .it looked like a holograph pier gold, and it's all glory.

Years ago there were dozens of places like this in Portland. This first the niche very well.
Staff was friendly and attentive, good was excellent, and the outdoor seating was well set. Great atmosphere.

“I love this place! I've been here twice and I always have a good experience! It's the perfect size and never too crowded, the food is amazing and you get a good amount for the money. I've had Leah as my server each time and she's super friendly and on top of things while not being over attentive. My only thing I don't love is the bench seating is kinda uncomfortable.“

“We ordered 50 breakfast burritos for the morning after my wedding, and they were a huge hit! They reheated well in the oven, and folks loved that we had accommodations for our vegan and dairy-free guests. The burritos did not skimp on filling, and did not lack in seasoning. Knowing that we would be reheating these, we ordered the pico and avocado on the side for folks to add after we took them out of the oven. So satisfying and yummy!“

“When you enter the first thing you notice are the plants and real wood paneling. There are tiny cast irons up on the wall. The lighting is designed to look like old style gas lamps. The music is definitely the best part of the ambiance. The music ranges from doowop to soul to vintage rock and roll to San Francisco sound and Motown which is precisely my jam. I ordered a plain burger with mayo and fries. I'm weird like that but Miller's was able to able to accommodate my autism. The service was amazing and I'm not just saying that cause I know the waitress. The food was made quickly. Fries were crunchy on the outside soft on the inside as they should be. My Fanta was topped off when I got just under a third. It's clean. Very clean. I know cause I watched an employee pull every single table out to clean the booths. Very pleased with my visit.“

“Bagel was decent cream cheese is fake it was Newfoundland there was dirt everywhere all you have to do is look up it's completely dirty there's hair and grease everywhere if you look anything above the food line it's completely gross they should be reported to the Health Board the coffee was nasty I drank one sip through to it the bagel was decent but they need to clean and tell people that the cream cheese they're using is not cream cheese this Newfoundland I paid for more cream cheese and they put it heavy in front and then tilted it to where there was less in the middle and back so I did not get what I paid for it overall the experience left me mad for $8“

“I’ve tried iHOP several times in Dubai, but this was my first time trying it in Canada! I’d been waiting for a halal menu, and finally got to try it last Sunday for breakfast with my group around 10:30 am. We ordered the Egg Benedict Spicy Polano, Avocado Toast, Big Steak Omelette, Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Vanilla Creamy Cold Foam Brew, Coffee, and Chicken Fajita Omelette. It's a great spot with plenty of options. Our server, Jai, was very friendly and prompt, and the order was taken with perfect accuracy something that often gets messed up at other places when we go out as a large group!“

“Biscuits cafe feels like a warm breakfast at a friend's house. Great, kind staff and friendly hosts. The food always tastes better than home made but with a nice diner style touch and because they offer options to choose what your meal is from a standard American breakfast meal offering list (eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, etc) you can never go wrong and always can get what you want.
They also have a great selection of specialties and a good variety of flavor. I've had many menu items but specifically the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs is a very hearty but worth it flavor explosion. I also love huevos rancheros and they make it extremely well. The cinnamon toast French toast is a sweet and warm breakfast offering if you want something more sweet. They also always cook the eggs exactly to the requested consistency where if you ask for an over easy egg it is runny but never undercooked. They also have salt and pepper and other condiments at the table so you can add what amount to taste for your palette.
Other than that I have to mention the consistency. Every time I have been here I have had a good experience and ate great food.“

“The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is warm. The food is mostly good for an American restaurant chain. Something of note, they do add buttermilk wheat pancake batter to most egg dishes that use the carton egg mix, except for the scrambled eggs, which does change the texture and flavor of the eggs quite a bit. There's plenty of parking and they have highchairs for kids. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained, but the toilet paper... one step away from becoming writing paper. It's the worst toilet paper I've ever used in my life. Why does this type of toilet paper exist? Was there a surplus from some WW2 era torture compound on clearance? A bulletproof armor experiment gone bad? It's like they ran an old pancake through a laminator. I've seen breath fog up a window thicker than this. If you eat here, sneak in and leave a roll of Charmin, save a life. 🥁 😂
Dietary restrictions: There are several low fat options or high protein, such as fish and vegetables. All of the egg dishes that use carton eggs except scrambled, have pancake batter that contains wheat added to them though.
Parking: Large open parking lot.
Kid-friendliness: They have highchairs and a few kids menu items for those under 12.
