“Came in Memorial Day weekend and was able to sit down right away. My girlfriend and I have been here a few times before and usually wait 45 minutes to an hour, so that was wonderful. I had Nebraska corn cakes and bacon, she had strawberry pancakes and sausage. Both were so good. The corn cakes have a crispy somewhat crunchy texture and the pancakes fluffy with very fresh berries. Outstanding food and service was very attentive and friendly. We'll be back again soon I'm sure!“

“My friend and I visit here every Friday evening. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Especially Jason. He remembers regulars, and is very genuinely caring about the people he serves. The servers, including Lupita, are very prompt and nice. Your drinks never go empty! We prefer this location because it’s not only open until 10pm, but because we have had such pleasant experiences with the staff. Food is pretty darn good too! Fresh breakfast meats and French toast! Thank you!“

“Walked up to this place with no expectations. Felt like the menu was a little boring and not expecting much. Got my sandwich and have now found my new favorite breakfast sando. English muffin was more like a homemade cross between a muffin and a biscuit. Sausage patty is thick, juicy with hints of rosemary. I just wish they had a better selection of hot sauce. Will be back next weekend.“

“You might have to wait a long time because this place is insanely popular. But trust me, this is well worth the wait. I waited 25 minutes, but the impatience I accrued from waiting quickly evaporated the second I bit into my Yolko Ono Deluxe. Ive been going to this place for years and the quality has stayed so consistent. 🫶“

“5 stars isn't enough for this place.
Bertie Lou's truly reflects Portland: small, and a little rough, but fast, with spot on service, and the tastiest food.
If you appreciate the dive bar side of city life then everything about this place is perfect. The tight counter, with seats that move like a rollercoaster, allowing an up close and personal view of the cooks (in the tightest galley kitchen) as they sling breakfast faster than a chicken could lay the eggs they're serving; the back and forth of the friendliest servers I've met (outside of Stepping Stone Cafe) as they chat whilst balancing bundles of heavily filled plates to tables at the rear, all while enjoying banter with fellow diners as we sit, absorbing this activity. It's truly bloody mesmerizing.
I know, we all have our favourite eateries, but I encourage you to find some time to stop here for breakfast (or lunch) and enjoy what may become one of the few remaining vestiges of 'real Portland' dining.
Parking: Plenty of residential parking.“

“I tried a waffle with an egg on top and a side of hashbrowns, and it honestly blew me away. The waffle was light and fluffy, with just the right texture, and the egg on top added a really nice savory balance without overpowering it. The hashbrowns were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. I can tell the owner put a lot of thought into his recipes; everything worked together so well. Highly recommend stopping by yourself or with a couple of friends!“

“Great breakfast spot! It's always so nice to actually get a solid amount of food (and, good food!) for your money - it's rare we have leftovers from breakfast, and we both did with our meals at Rocket! Also, the Heist food cart & food hall area is such a cool space - looking forward to returning.“

“Food! Service! Atmosphere! And Feeling the immediate homey comfort by staff and customers, was just what two weary travelers needed. Met our niece there for breakfast and totally a joy of a cross country trip. Have been in many places across the U S A; and this one is one of major memorable treats. BTW my niece talked me into to trying your Fabulous (Homemade) Green Monster Sauce on my egg omelette and I havent stopped talking or looking for a duplicate since visiting Portland and I live in Ohio! If any one is reading this as a world traveler, believe me when I tell you If you live, or travel in this area, you gotta treat yourself to one of their fabulous stomach filing delicious entries. Really!. Bravo, I never write any kind of reviews in the possitive, I'm old, so I bitch alot. HAHA; But this place so worth the time, the price and contributing to a small family business. Which I totlally look for in any area I visit. I totally believe in supporting family owned local businesses...not the big Guys! Bravo Midpoint. If I lived in the area you'd know me by name as a regular! God Bless. And hope this will inspire the owner into marketing her Green Monster Sauce. One of the best out there. “Surprising array of options for small café, including 2 savory vegan breakfasts. I had the tofu scramble, very tasty with a generous amount of veggies, and home fries side. Tasty by themselves but improved with the house hot sauce. Prompt, friendly service, and nice size mug for hot tea.“

“I happened to have been using the restroom on my visit there & while using the restroom, an employee did to not wash his hands after he used the bathroom. (I’m sure “it’s” clean but still) I noticed he had just used paper towels to open the door and that was that. I’m going to assume that he probably didn’t wash his hands when he went right
back to work.“

“The food was amazing, I loved the Chef Salad and my dad and sister said the Club Sandwich was great. My favorite part was the people, the servers were so nice and sweet, very fast service (although it was a slow day). All smiles and very kind and gracious when I accidentally spilled my entire glass of water lol. I'd definitely come back, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun place for the family.“

“Bagel was decent cream cheese is fake it was Newfoundland there was dirt everywhere all you have to do is look up it's completely dirty there's hair and grease everywhere if you look anything above the food line it's completely gross they should be reported to the Health Board the coffee was nasty I drank one sip through to it the bagel was decent but they need to clean and tell people that the cream cheese they're using is not cream cheese this Newfoundland I paid for more cream cheese and they put it heavy in front and then tilted it to where there was less in the middle and back so I did not get what I paid for it overall the experience left me mad for $8“

“First time at the Mississippi st location and love it. A bigger space allows them to flex their music theme and show off their brand to the fullest. Still can’t order anything other than the Yoko Ono, surely the best breakfast sandwich in Portland. Love it 💛“

“The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is warm. The food is mostly good for an American restaurant chain. Something of note, they do add buttermilk wheat pancake batter to most egg dishes that use the carton egg mix, except for the scrambled eggs, which does change the texture and flavor of the eggs quite a bit. There's plenty of parking and they have highchairs for kids. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained, but the toilet paper... one step away from becoming writing paper. It's the worst toilet paper I've ever used in my life. Why does this type of toilet paper exist? Was there a surplus from some WW2 era torture compound on clearance? A bulletproof armor experiment gone bad? It's like they ran an old pancake through a laminator. I've seen breath fog up a window thicker than this. If you eat here, sneak in and leave a roll of Charmin, save a life. 🥁 😂
Dietary restrictions: There are several low fat options or high protein, such as fish and vegetables. All of the egg dishes that use carton eggs except scrambled, have pancake batter that contains wheat added to them though.
Parking: Large open parking lot.
Kid-friendliness: They have highchairs and a few kids menu items for those under 12.
Wheelchair accessibility: There's wheelchair accessible seating.“

“It is a busy spot, but they know how to alleviate customers in those moments. Quick to a table and coffee. Servers are quick and highly overworked, so be patient. Food is better than Dennys but less fanciful than Mcmenamins Edgefield.
Great sunday breakfast spot.
Beware the exit door. You need to be able to bench at LEAST 100 lbs to beat the vaccuum the door creates.“

“Our server, I believe her name was Trinh, according to the receipt, was wonderful. She was very attentive, friendly, and helpful, and even let us know she was going to be taking a break and brought us our check beforehand as well as letting us know we could get help from any of the other staff if need be. The other staff also checked in with us a few times. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The food was good - standard for IHOP fare. The avocado toast wasn’t the best, but the rest of my food was really good. I should also note that we tried to go to a different ihop closer to the airport first and they were incredibly understaffed. They had so many empty tables but a 35 minute wait, likely due to a lack of staffing. We saw this location was on our way home so we decided to stop there instead. We were immediately seated and served, which was a great surprise. Great IHOP experience overall :)“
