“My friend and I visit here every Friday evening. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Especially Jason. He remembers regulars, and is very genuinely caring about the people he serves. The servers, including Lupita, are very prompt and nice. Your drinks never go empty! We prefer this location because it’s not only open until 10pm, but because we have had such pleasant experiences with the staff. Food is pretty darn good too! Fresh breakfast meats and French toast! Thank you!“

“Great little breakfast spot with a cozy, welcoming vibe. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the visit even better. We had bacon, eggs, and sourdough toast, all cooked just right and really hit the spot. Classic, no-frills breakfast done well. Definitely a place worth checking out if you’re in the area.“

“Hard to believe I have lived in Portland for 20 years and have never been to the Original Pancake House. Finally did one morning and was really impressed. So many choices it was hard to decide but of course we had to get one dutch baby to try. Everything was so good and the service was stellar. It’s a busy place so expect a wait and it can get quite loud inside with all the people. Those things aside, I can’t wait to go back again and try more of the menu!“

“Food! Service! Atmosphere! And Feeling the immediate homey comfort by staff and customers, was just what two weary travelers needed. Met our niece there for breakfast and totally a joy of a cross country trip. Have been in many places across the U S A; and this one is one of major memorable treats. BTW my niece talked me into to trying your Fabulous (Homemade) Green Monster Sauce on my egg omelette and I havent stopped talking or looking for a duplicate since visiting Portland and I live in Ohio! If any one is reading this as a world traveler, believe me when I tell you If you live, or travel in this area, you gotta treat yourself to one of their fabulous stomach filing delicious entries. Really!. Bravo, I never write any kind of reviews in the possitive, I'm old, so I bitch alot. HAHA; But this place so worth the time, the price and contributing to a small family business. Which I totlally look for in any area I visit. I totally believe in supporting family owned local businesses...not the big Guys! Bravo Midpoint. If I lived in the area you'd know me by name as a regular! God Bless. And hope this will inspire the owner into marketing her Green Monster Sauce. One of the best out there. “I tried a waffle with an egg on top and a side of hashbrowns, and it honestly blew me away. The waffle was light and fluffy, with just the right texture, and the egg on top added a really nice savory balance without overpowering it. The hashbrowns were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. I can tell the owner put a lot of thought into his recipes; everything worked together so well. Highly recommend stopping by yourself or with a couple of friends!“

“We ordered 50 breakfast burritos for the morning after my wedding, and they were a huge hit! They reheated well in the oven, and folks loved that we had accommodations for our vegan and dairy-free guests. The burritos did not skimp on filling, and did not lack in seasoning. Knowing that we would be reheating these, we ordered the pico and avocado on the side for folks to add after we took them out of the oven. So satisfying and yummy!“

“Bagel was decent cream cheese is fake it was Newfoundland there was dirt everywhere all you have to do is look up it's completely dirty there's hair and grease everywhere if you look anything above the food line it's completely gross they should be reported to the Health Board the coffee was nasty I drank one sip through to it the bagel was decent but they need to clean and tell people that the cream cheese they're using is not cream cheese this Newfoundland I paid for more cream cheese and they put it heavy in front and then tilted it to where there was less in the middle and back so I did not get what I paid for it overall the experience left me mad for $8“

I waited 25 minutes, but the impatience I accrued from waiting quickly evaporated the second I bit into my Yolko Ono Deluxe. “Hands down the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had in my life. I’ve tried the regular breakfast sandwich and the Rene and they were both spectacular. Delicious fresh bread and juicy sausage meat. Love the spicy sweet elements from the Rene and already thinking about my next trip to Portland to have it again. Keep up the good work!“

“This is a great addition to Sellwood (and SE Portland Metro).
Years ago there were dozens of places like this in Portland. This first the niche very well.
Staff was friendly and attentive, good was excellent, and the outdoor seating was well set. Great atmosphere.

“This place was phenomenal, I came to the food pod on 5tt Ave, and I wanted to try out. You know, variety of things, and then I came across Java Rising Calf. I got their spice apple and OMG, you guys, if you haven't yet, this place is a must try.
Stop their waffles. Which is the base for all their dishes? Was cook to perfection, crispy, golden, and the outside soft, warm, and inside. You mix that up with the spiced. Apple's, the whipped cream, and they have something on top of that whipped crime. I should have asked what it was, but the combination of all those items together just, it was an orgy in my mouth... I forgot I had other foods, I licked the plate, guys.
I dare. to even say I was disappointed at every other food car I tried. I got a lot of food. I came there with a mission, and only one place satisfied my expectations, what I was looking for, right. I pretty much tried about 6 food courts and none of them war satisfactory in both flavor execution, and even though I had it in a togo container. Their Plating, I mean, the way the Sun hit it just right, It was like the holy growl... .it looked like a holograph pier gold, and it's all glory.

“I love this place! I've been here twice and I always have a good experience! It's the perfect size and never too crowded, the food is amazing and you get a good amount for the money. I've had Leah as my server each time and she's super friendly and on top of things while not being over attentive. My only thing I don't love is the bench seating is kinda uncomfortable.“

“Surprising array of options for small café, including 2 savory vegan breakfasts. I had the tofu scramble, very tasty with a generous amount of veggies, and home fries side. Tasty by themselves but improved with the house hot sauce. Prompt, friendly service, and nice size mug for hot tea.“

“Our server, I believe her name was Trinh, according to the receipt, was wonderful. She was very attentive, friendly, and helpful, and even let us know she was going to be taking a break and brought us our check beforehand as well as letting us know we could get help from any of the other staff if need be. The other staff also checked in with us a few times. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The food was good - standard for IHOP fare. The avocado toast wasn’t the best, but the rest of my food was really good. I should also note that we tried to go to a different ihop closer to the airport first and they were incredibly understaffed. They had so many empty tables but a 35 minute wait, likely due to a lack of staffing. We saw this location was on our way home so we decided to stop there instead. We were immediately seated and served, which was a great surprise. Great IHOP experience overall :)“
