6 Best Steakhouses near Altoona

“My family and I have been going to Texas Roadhouse for many years now. In all of those years, there have only been two occurrences that come to mind where there was really any issue with anything. On both occurrences about two years apart, my steak was not cooked correctly. The first visit I am referencing took four times to correct, but was corrected without attitude from the waitress nor the manager and we were not charged for the steak in the end. The second visit I am referencing took three times to correct without attitude from the waitress, but attitude from the cook and a bit of skepticism from one manager, but the steak was corrected. Overall, the wait staff is kind and fairly prompt, same as management typically. The food is practically always good and with filling portion sizes. Sometimes when it is busy, floor cleanliness leaves a bit to be desired, but the tables and seats are typically clean. Also, most of the staff is knowledgeable enough of basic food allergies to comply with requests and/or will ask people who know better and are willing to check ingredients upon request. I have dairy and gluten intolerances and have not had an issue to date.“

“We love this location in particular. For me, it's a little more personal because this is one of the very few restaurants remaining from my childhood. The staff is so friendly, the salad bar is always stocked and the food is always prepared correctly with good portions. Prices have gone up (naturally), but overall, I feel it's still pretty reasonable. We will return in the future.

Parking: Lots of parking with handicap spots available.

Kid-friendliness: They have a nice variety on the kids 12 and under menu. Kids 5 and under (I believe) eat free or at a flat rate. They offer coloring contests and fun things for the kids to do on certain days of the week.“

“Been a long time fan of Hoss's...just stared going more frequently again....Everything is fresh & delicious....the only complaints I have is they no longer have the 2 chicken breast meal option anymore and the prices have dramatically increased, but the price situation is more a result of the disastrous economy were in , as it's across the board for all restaurants.“
