We've rounded up Ambler's top Mexican spots for you to try.
“This place is awesome. Great little family owned taco and burrito spot. Got a delicious chimichanga and my friend enjoyed his huevos breakfast (available all day apparently). Very good value for the food as well. Will definitely visit again when in the area.Vegetarian options: Most items are available as vegetarian.“
“Nice specialty grocery near by other shops in Ambler. I found Mexican Oregano for a dish I was making without needing to order it from Amazon. Similarly other items which can be difficult to source and locate as well as some regular staples were available. I will definitely be going back when I have more time to peruse the offerings. Clean, organized, friendly, convenient.“
“Had a ton of fun here! 2 complimentary margaritas, woot woot! The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is super friendly, and the food is swell as well. Chips and guac were awesome, I also enjoyed the pork enchiladas. The flan was slightly on the sweeter side but, make no mistake, was a great way to end the meal. Overall, a wonderful establishment!“
“We came for a large work dinner and everything was phenomenal. Our waiter, Greg, was incredibly personable and friendly. He knew the menu and made great recommendations. We were laughing the whole time. The food as well was fantastic--some of the best fajitas I've ever had. Will definitely be back next time we're in town!“
“I've ordered twice for delivery and it's been so fast and so good! Try them, you'll be so happy you did.Dietary restrictions: Super easy to order exactly the way you can eat it. The menu specifies corn or flour tortillas, making it easy to stay gluten free. They follow directions so well, I was able to order a burrito as a bowl, too.“
“Don Mezcal was an incredible experience. Right as you walk in, you can feel the amazing atmosphere. The food and service are also amazing, and I was taken away by the quality of the food. I would definitely recommend Don Mezcal to someone, as it was amazing.“
“Just moved to the area from South Philly where there is no shortage of top tier Mexican joints and have been looking for something to scratch that itch in this area. I just found it, quick service, reasonable prices and GREAT food. Everything was seasoned perfectly down to the side of rice and the side hot sauces were spectacular. Would highly recommend if you live in the area!“
“This place is amazinggg! I’m sitting in the restaurant writing this review before I leave because it was that good!I chose this place because I wanted Mexican and I didn’t know the Mexican places around this area, it had the best reviews so I figured we’d try it. BEST DECISION EVER!!! My son got a cheese quesadilla he loved (I tried it too and was impressed!). I got chicken fajitas - absolutely fantastic. Then my dad got a taco salad and he reported it being delicious. Nice ambiance - very colorful, cozy place. The only side note Id write in is it’s not Spicy. Which is great for my son, I do prefer a little “kick” in my fajitas but it was still very flavorful without it. My dad ordered a side of hot sauce and he said that was very Spicy. So they’ve got the spicy if you want it.I keep a list on restaurants I like best on my phone and I am most definitely writing this one down. I live in Lansdale but I’d travel to Colmar just to eat here. I highly recommend if you’re looking for some good Mexican.“
“I was in the neighborhood to drop off and pick up my kid at an urban air birthday party. Popped in to grab lunch while I waited. So glad I did! Chilaquiles were delicious and a huge portion. Staff were all great too. Can’t wait to come back!!!“
“The place is really good. Food is good and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We went in around 6 and they had an hour of waiting. We went there and the workers were very sweet and polite. They were also very quick with their service. My friend spilled her water and they cleaned it all up within 2 mins. It was crazy and very impressive! I will recommend this place, especially for their service.“
“This place is amazing , I’ve never experienced such a good service and food it was just perfect . The food was delicious, the service was fast and so good, the margarita was on top, the manager and the people did a great job by helping us choose, the music was not too load, place was clean, parking lot available, bathroom smelling good … I mean .. this place is perfect !“
“Update 04-Apr-24: Katrina was our server, plus we got to see Melissa again. Was really great food and the drinks were great too. Easy to get to and great Mexican ambiance! Katrina and Melissa - you guys are the BEST!We go here often. Excellent place to eat and enjoy an adult beverage! Nicole was great the last few visits. Melissa has been awesome, too.Go visit.“
“my first time stepping into this restaurant and the attentive service was just as GREAT as the delicious food i was servednot too many places render both great customer service and great food but this place does THANX TO ALEJANDRA CABRERA for making my visit welcoming ? i definitely will stop again and recommend this place hands down“
“Really good food, friendly service. This seems like a chain restaurant (I've nev heard of this place before). It set up similar to Chipotle/Qdoba. They have very different and unique food options and tasty sauces. This is worth a try if you like these types of quick eats places. I will eat here again...“
“Amazing. Been here a few times, servers are great, the cooks are playing music and having a great time while serving up some of the best food in the area, and priced very well. The aqua de frescha is amazing. Highly recommend. Almost a perfect substitute for water.“
“Vegetarian options: The food was yummy. Even though the menu doesn't have a separate label for veg, non-vegan, or vegan, you can customize the order. Valerie was kind and respectful. She made that the order was right and provided suggestions on what's the best. Overall, it is a place was stopping by to have an amazing meal.“
“I've been in here quite a few times and I've always had a good experience. The food is always good. Serena I think her name is, is a sweet pleasant young lady she was very kind the last time I was in there. The atmosphere is nice especially on a great weather day. Y'all should check out the deck!!!“
“THE BEST CHILAQHILES VERDE I'VE HAD. I've been looking all over the Philly area for a place that makes good chilaquiles, and I finally found it at El Bronco. The steak was well seasoned, the sauce was spicy and had a good amount of vinegar, even the beans were very good. The only reason I can't give this place five stars is because my food that I ordered online wasn't ready until 30 minutes AFTER my pickup window ended. I'd recommend ordering well in advance and counting on a bit of a wait for your food, but I'll definitely be back.“
“Authentic, cheap and super tasty Mexican food!! Loved how friendly the staff was and the music playing made me feel right at home. Went with an order of 3 different tacos on their super soft flour tortillas that were charred perfectly and topped with a good amount of cilantro and raw onions. The barbacoa(pulled pork) was my favorite out of the three because of how flavorful, tender and juicy the meat was. Could eat that with plate of rice and beans every day easily. The tinga and the lengua were also super delicious and must try options when coming here. Those sauces tho they have at every table just made the tacos even better. Loved the spicy red sauce and the green sauce chilled it down just a tad to add a beautiful balance that made every taco a delight.“
“I'm not from this town! But I love to eat, I had to check this little spot filled with bilingual woman who make their own cream for tacos n such! I liked it ? I have to go back AGAIN to make a fo'sure decision here's a little pic of what I ate 3 ? tacos and beans. My friend had a chicken sandwich ? “
“Legitimately delicious! Authentic flavor and very fresh preparation made us very very happy. The complimentary chips and salsa was delicious, the chips were freshly cooked. The birria and the enchiladas were awesome and the empanadas are top notch.“
“As a Mexican American from Southern California living in the Philadelphia area, it is difficult to find good authentic Mexican food and groceries. This place has both. It's obvious from the minute you see it, smell it, and take a few steps in the door. They have everything you could want, a decent prices, and very high quality.I've only eaten in the restaurant once, but both of the pozole, and the menudo were absolutely fantastic. I will certainly be returning for more.“
“My husband got the pork with rice and salad and I'll myself got steak stew with rice and beans and avocado. The serving was plenty enough to fill you and take her. The taste was very good. I would recommend anyone to come and taste there's food. Besides the food this place is so beautiful scenery. I love it, and love the five it has like the music and people being happy“
“It was my first time visiting. Joined friends for happy hour. Had a fish taco. I think it was made with a fish stick?.Nice atmosphere. Good service. Very good prices for mixed drinks.I would visit again because it is close to home & has an inviting atmosphere.“
“DELICIOUS!!! The carnitas tostadas are delicious, the tacos dorados or flautas, super rich, the tamarind water, delicious, I recommend them 100%The reasonable price, enough food for the price and the taste very very richParking: CVS Pharmacy parking lot is usually used“
“Really great spot for authentic Mexican without any frills. Small interior but welcoming -- they're honest, affordable, and the food is great. Super glad to have found this spot so close to home.P.S. -- thank you for saying something when I went to pay in cash after forgetting I'd already paid online!“
“Love this place! My husband and I have a standing date night here once/month. I love the guacamole and chicken enchiladas with green sauce. They also have fantastic mojitos. My husband loves the bisteces encenobollados and pollo dos quesos. Their service is fantastic. Tonight our server was Megan and she was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and went over the top to accommodate us and our son. If you’re looking for quality, authentic Mexican cuisine, delicious drinks and great service, try Los Sarapes!“
“Finally, a great choice for casual, decent Mexican has opened in MtAiry/Chestnut Hill! Very good guacamole--and the pork carnitas never disappoint. We've stopped in several times since they opened last year and the service and quality have been consistently excellent. Thanks for opening on Germantown, El Limón“
“Nestled within the bustling King of Prussia Mall, Plaza Azteca offers a tantalizing array of Mexican cuisine that promises to satisfy any craving for south-of-the-border flavors. The menu is a treasure trove of classic Mexican dishes, featuring everything from sizzling fajitas to cheesy enchiladas and flavorful tacos. I opted for the carne asada tacos, and they were nothing short of spectacular. The tender, well-seasoned beef nestled in warm, handmade tortillas, topped with fresh salsa and guacamole, made for a truly mouthwatering experience. Despite the friendly demeanor of the staff, the slow service was a significant downside to an otherwise enjoyable dining experience.“
“ABSOLUTELY!! I surprised a friend with lunch and it was amazing!! It is 4 days later and she is still raving about it! So much so a Monday lunch with friends is in the planning!! The staff was polite and kind! Not a negative word to say about El Limon!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!“
“Excellent first time experience at Rodeo today for my husband's birthday! The food and margaritas were absolutely delicious. The service was amazing, Tatiana was super attentive and provided awesome hospitality. Gran Rodeo will definitely be in our top 3 “
“Please get the chicken quesadillas if you go here for dinner(you definitely should). They were absolutely gaseous. Made my taste buds tingle. Service was amazing for such a large group. Price was not bad at all. Server was an absolute goat. Highly recommend.“

“The tacos here were so delicious, with really flavorful sauces and super fresh veggies. The addition of radish and cucumber really added to the experience! Unfortunately, the tres leches left some to be desired, but other than that everything was phenomenal and I will definitely eat here again next time I am in the area!“
“My friends and I go to El Jefe almost every week, and we love this place. My friend comes from the same town in Mexico as one of the cooks, and that friend says it’s very authentic. The owner is extremely friendly and loves his customers. The wings are great, and I usually get six chorizo tacos every time I go and they are FANTASTIC. The man doesn’t skimp on the tacos either, they always come out FAT!?“
“The service was a little slow, but the food was delicious, not salty or greasy. We had the fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. Lots of fish, lots of shrimp. We couldn't eat much of dinner because the nachos with beef appetizer was a large portion size.“
“The food is always outstanding. If you want good authentic Mexican comfort meals this is your place. They make the most deliciousempanadas not many Mexican resturauntshave them in the area. You can't go wrongand the family are wonderful.“
“|The Food|The waiter started us with chips with frijoles and shredded queso fresco with a side of red salsa and green guacamole salsa, SPICY, I can handle the spiciness so I was fine, but add as much salsa as you can handleThe food is really good I ordered 3 tacos de bistec that order comes with...* three tacos de bistec - steak, cilantro, and onions* slices of cucumber* slices of turnip* slices of lime My boyfriend ordered 2 gorditas de tinga that order comes with...* 2 gorditas - tinga de pollo - lettuce - shredded queso fresco* Slices of cucumber* slices turnipWe ordered one cup of horchata, I wouldn't say one cup, but a whole blending machine cup LMAO, but the horchata was good like any other good Mexican restaurant, nothing really special.|The service|The service was meh. The waiter seemed like he didn't want to be there. But he got everything we wanted, so no complains thereOther than that service was ok|Ambiance|The place is very culturelized, I don't know how else to explain it but, they had the whole restaurant filled with the Mexican decor, it's very nice. The tables are nice as well, dark wood“
“Best taco place I found in the Philly area. Most of the workers don't speak English so you know it's authentic. It may look a little sketchy being in a grocery store but don't judge a book by it's cover. Carne asada is always my go to.“
“amazing pizza! soft crust, generous toppings, (American favorites & unique Mexican toppings too)! and courteous service: )wonderful pizza! Soft bread, they put a lot on top (American favorites and pizza with roast beef, al pastor too!) and very courteous service: )“
“Best Tacos In Pennsylvania, and I've had many many tacos in Pennsylvania.Worth driving out of your way for. DID I NOT SAY IT WAS THE BEST TACO IN THE ENTIRE KEYSTONE STATE!!!!!A popular local spot for breakfast through dinnerThe food is unbelievable. I get the Tacos Cabeza ,BIRRIA ON WEEKENDS!Try this place and you'll come back“
“Very tasty, fresh authentic Mexican cuisine. I really like the empanadas and tacos. Not a bad price for a very tasty lunch or dinner. Have not tried any of the pastries, but we'll give it a try in the future. You can walk in, call, or order online and get your food in a timely fashion.“
“We came from Reading PA, before going to IKEA, we found this restaurant. I love all. From the service to the atmosphere. The food came out fast and so YUMMY. My children loved pizza. My husband loved the cake and I loved the grilled chicken. Excellent! We will be “
“We were visiting out of town for a sport competition and needed somewhere close to grab lunch with a big group. Nataly's went ABOVE and BEYOND expectations. Be aware, it is a total dive (barely functional AC, tables from the 80's, etc.) but the food is wonderful. The Enchiladas Verdes were absolutely delectable and did not hold back on the spice. The wait staff had limited English but was more than attentive. You have to stop here if you're in North-West Philly.“
“I was a bit disappointed by the pupusas (had the loroco and queso), a bit bland compared to what I usually get in the DMV. And the Curtido is not up to par. The taste was spot on, but it was mostly onions and carrots with not much cabbage. The tacos (I had the fish and lengua) was great. The taco de lengua was perfect! The fish taco, I've had better thought his one wasn't as bad.In case you are wondering, the horchata they serve is Mexican style, not Salvadoran horchata de morro. I personally prefer Mexican style, but it's good to know which one a restaurant serves so that you don't get disappointed. The people are nice, service is great, and the place is clean. I would definitely go back and try the other dishes.“
“The food was delicious. fantastic location. Plenty of free parking. I recommend the burrito loco; Frida Kahlo inspired. I will definitely make a stop every time I travel to Philadelphia or King of Prussia. The food was delicious. fantastic location. Plenty of free parking. I recommend the crazy burrito; Inspired by Frida Kahlo. I will definitely make a stop every time I travel to Philadelphia or King of Prussia.“
“No parking lot available, street parking on residential streets are the only option and the business is located on the main street. This is definitely what you would call a "hole in the wall" type of business. Food is so good!! I did a to go catering order and price was reasonable, food was exactly what you expect when you think of tacos. Very authentic and the sauces were on point as well.“
“My husband and I came here for date night and had a great time! The guacamole is so fresh and delicious. The drinks are also really good, make sure to try the Valentina drink! Our server was so attentive and I believe two of the managers or maybe even the owners came by our table to make sure we had everything we needed. Truly stellar service, will definitely be back!“
