“Most of the customers were Chinese. The menu does have the typical Chinese-American offerings, but also has some very authentic Cantonese offerings. Big on seafood. Had deep fried Japanese tofu with salt and pepper (fantastic), pork with crispy noodles, and seasonal Chinese vegetables (Ya Choy) or Chinese broccoli (not your run of the meal broccoli) in a garlic sauce, shrimp dumplings, and pork shu mai. It was plentiful and delicious. I asked my friend where we should eat outside of a Philadelphia Chinatown, she said China Gourmet. Highly recommend. Her dad was a chef in many Chinese restaurants as well as his own, so when she recommended, I knew that it was going to be good. Thank you Shirley Lee Wiley for the recommendation.“

“I was looking for roast crispy duck. I didn't want to go to Chinatown because its gotten rundown, yucky traffic, expensive parking and horrible SEPTA. I decided to stay in my neighborhood so I could walk. I worried about it being expensive. Chestnut Hill is high end and the restaurant looked pricey. What a WONDERFUL SURPRISE! I was a solo table but still treated like a queen with lots of servers checking in, giving water and smiling. The roast duck in black bean sauce on the cast iron plate was SCRUMPTIOUS. It comes with a healthy side of white rice and delicate, flavorful bok choi. The skin was crispy yet NOT oily or greasy. The CHUNKS of tender duck meat were excellent. The sauce was thick, savory and yummy. FOODGASM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The portion was so healthy that I was able to take a container home for lunch the next day. Then I ordered the Mudslide ice cream pie for dessert. PERFECTION. Dense, creamy, sweet but not cloying with nut accents, fresh strawberries and cream as garnish. Cool treat on a humid Summer night. When the bill came, I was shocked that it was less than $40. I did not order a cocktail because I wanted to concentrate on the food. I gave them a big tip and said I am absolutely returning. I am also addicted to their spring rolls too. Two perfect crunchy flaky rolls filled with a balanced combination of shrimp, cheese, and cabbage that you can dip in duck sauce or mustard or just enjoy plain.“

Their Chinese Pizza (scallion pancakes) and Eggplant with Garlic Sauce is incredible! Their vegetables are so fresh. The delivery is always fast. The portions and prices are great. “Got a general tso combo platter. Super fast, the staff is very friendly, and the portion size is easily double anywhere else in east mount airy for a dollar or two less. Downside is the chicken was not crispy, and it was barely in the box for 5 minutes so i know it didnt get soggy that way. Also the fried rice and egg roll were only so so. Because of the huge portion im having some of the chicken for lunch the next day, 100 percent better cold so it isn't soggy.“

“SIMPLY THE BEST CHINESSE RESTAURANT IN THE AREA. We go all the way from Hatboro to this place because is good. They put lots of different vegetables. It is the best in this area. It is not gourmet but the average Chinese restaurant is the best. The people is super nice. The guy cooking is real Chinese and you can tell that he cares. You go to other places, and they just put a bunch of broccoli with a little bit of sauce and they call it Vegie Mix, here, you get a variety of vegetables. The food WAS NOT salty at all, natural.“

“I've been eating here since I was a kid and it's definitely just the best Chinese takeout I've had in the city. The general tsos are super good and have a nice flavor and consistency and the wings are also great. I prefer their fried rice as a side to their lo mein but can't go wrong with either. While there's other dishes I love these are the must haves, I highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area and hungry for some Chinese takeout. Remember though, it's cash only.“

“Excellent food, especially if you go early for dim sum, and the staff is polite and efficient. I usually get an order of string beans or whatever green veg I see first, then we pick from the rotating carts. I'ma say yes to everything that has shrimp. Lol. You can request custom orders during sim sum hours, too, FYI.

I've been there at night for traditional ordering, and that was really good, as well, but I like a little bit of everything, so I love dim sum.

The sisters who owned this place also did the cooking and serving. They were super friendly. The place was not fancy but fine for enjoying food and your company. We are sticklers for our Chinese food and have had some bad meals at many other places until we found China Chef and very rarely go elsewhere (only go to other places when looking for sushi or thai which China Chef doesn’t have either). Don’t expect anything fancy, but do expect some good food. We recommend the Moo Shu Pork.“

“The food is clean and has flavor but most of the time it gets too you 10-20 minutes earlier than when they tell you and your veggies are not cooked all the way through. As you eat you are crunching away on all the veggies. You need to take the time and cook everything and not worry about the time it gets to the person that orders. All in all a nice/clean spot.“

I am 29 now and I’ve RARELYYYY ever have a problem.They know my number and house when I call and they know my favorite order and they ALWAYS make sure my step dad gets NO PEAS in his meals.I’ve only ever witness them mess up the no pea thing once. “Lovely people and never a complaint about the food. Don't go to many Chinese stores, just this one and Danny Wok. It's a mix of a hit or miss with others, plus I like seeing my food being made, so I gave up on ordering out. Here is good, though. I would suggest to sub out the rice for lo mein it makes the meal twice as good. My son turned me on. My foo young was vegetable but that isn't an option. Also had the general tos chicken.

Parking: The lot is good enough for the establishments that are there. Considering everyone is in and out, not staying long.“
