“Administrative details - While you usually must make a reservation a year in advance (which I did), there are a very few earlier spots available on their website. In addition, if you are on the email list, they send the occasional last-minute availability. Talula’s is BYOB. The price was $125 and with all the other things, taxes, gratuities, it came to $160. The Nook Table is available for 6-8 diners and the Farm Table is for larger parties. Website link is below. Everything is presented in “tasting” small portions. In addition to the menu, they provided a couple of additional offerings. I did not do a good job of capturing the delightful descriptions of the food provided by our server. (The next time I go, I will video the descriptions if they allow.) The group did a great job of bringing wine which was beautifully poured in appropriate glassware by our server. The server also paired the wine with the offerings for us! The service was exceptional without being pretentious. After each tasting, plates, utensils and glasses were cleared and refurbished so discreetly that you hardly noticed. The menu changes with the “farm to table” availability. My favorite was a squash tarte. [I was delighted to find that I did not like the foie gras. It is “made” in a most inhumane and horrible way. This is the only time I have eaten it and I will never eat it again.] I was sorry to find that by the Black Garlic Beef Ribeye (#6 on the list), I was getting to the point of “too much food.” The only downsides were “too much food” for most of us and the wines they suggested for the pairings were hard/impossible to find. I personally did not like the varieties of wines they suggested for pairings. The rest of the party enjoyed the comparable wines they were able to find and allowed the server to pair with the tastings. I will be making a reservation for next year very soon. I have already made a reservation for the “sister” Talula’s Garden in Philly for September.”

“I brought my daughter as we recently moved to Kennett. The restaurant was very clean and the entire staff was so welcoming. The owner came over to make sure we were enjoying everything and couldn’t have been any nicer. The pizza is very good and my daughter loved the cheesesteak. They offer delivery as well which is convenient.”

I called to let the manager know how much we enjoyed our takeout meals and she was so gracious and immediately signed us up for their rewards program. I highly recommend Cafe Emis. “A rare gem with a farm to table feel. This venue gave a perfect balance of modern and rustic decor with a staff of old school American hospitality and excellence. The owners at the Sovana must have taken great care in hiring, training, and maintaining their staff. Brendan, the manager, and Even, our server, took every available measure to ensure that our two person party was given a dining experience that would become one of our greatest. We came for the charcuterie boards and nothing was left to chance. Each component was fresh, proportionate, and expertly paired with just the right additions. The pickled carrots quickly my favorite. The number of cheese options was unmatched! I have had boards in and out of the country, but I’ve never come across a menu with so many options, cheese variations, and or customizable side boards. By the time we left, Brendan had welcomed us into the Sovana Family, Even had filled our bellies with a meal to cry over, and on the drive home my husband and I planned our next visit. This experience will become a recurring part of our self care.”

“This is our go-to place for Mexican takeout in Kennett Square. We regularly get the special meat burrito with lomo (seasoned shredded pork), burrito with asada, and chicken quesadilla. The huaraches and enchiladas are also really good. All meals come with a ton of food. They give you little hot sauce containers and limes to go with your meal. There’s a small eating area where you often find people dining, but we typically to takeout because we order during the week and the food travels well. They’re always really quick when we call; about 15 minutes and the food is ready.

The owner is almost always the one who answers the phone and greets you when you come in. You can tell that he cares about his restaurant and making his customers happy, and you can feel good that you’re supporting a small local business, not a big chain. (If you happen to be helped by someone other than the owner, like a moody teen, don’t let it put you off).

The prices are reasonable, especially considering how much food you get.

One note: PAY CASH or you’ll be charged a credit card fee that they don’t even tell you about. This is the one complaint I have about this place. I know that many businesses are now doing this, but there are no signs in the restaurant warning of this fee and if you tell them you’re paying by card, they type a higher amount into the credit card machine without telling you.

The small parking lot could definitely be repaved and the building looks a little iffy in its lighting and placement among car repair shops and an apartment construction site, but it all adds to the feeling that you’ve found a hidden gem.

Parking: Not too many spots, but I’ve never found it totally full. Pavement is bumpy with lots of holes.”

“Though some things have changed at the Cafe' since our last visit, the food is still the same high quality, and the atmosphere can't be equaled anywhere. Many items that used to be available on the steam tables are now pre-packaged, so service is faster and more hygienic. In particular, the mushroom soup and other hot items are kept at the ideal serving temperature, which I really liked. This isn't McDonald's though, so don't expect fast food pricing. You pay for the convenience and the setting, which are well worth it, since you don't have to leave the Gardens to eat. It's best to think of the Cafe' as a snack break, instead of a meal, because there are many fine restaurants nearby for later.”

“I have enjoyed many products from Taste of Puebla over the years as they come to my local farmers market. Recently I tried 2 new products - the jalapeño poppers and the queso. Both are quite tasty. “I picked up a 5-inch chicken pot pie for dinner and a salted maple custard pie for dessert. Holy cow, they were so good! Hands down, the best chicken pot pie I've ever had! The 5-inch size was big enough to share with my daughter. The salted maple custard pie was unique and delicious. I usually prefer fruit pies but am glad I tried this. I can't wait to try more of their pies!”

“The staff at this Wendy's were being unfairly harrassed by an an unstable white male as I went through the drive thru tonight. He banged on the doors and yelled through them at the employees, then I saw him walk away back to his car and pick up a rock on the way. He then drove up behind me in thr drive thru and yelled at them through the speaker, pulled out of the drive thru and parked behind the restaurant just waiting. When I pulled to the window, I told the staff what I saw. The shift manager said that he was there all the time and always treated them like this. She said they have reported him in the past but the local police say they can't do anything. The staff at this restaurant were friendly, prompt, and delivered exactly what I ordered. They remained calm and collected while there was an active threat even knowing no one else was coming to help them. I am amazed at how much these folk had to handle while the majority of the staff looked to still be teenagers. No one should have to work in these conditions. If Wendy's is smart, they (or the franchise owner) will look into this situation and give a raise to everyone there.”
