“It has been a long while since I have been so driven as to write a review for a Hawley restaurant. The place speaks for itself.... for a restaurant with very little parking , you will find it FULL with reservations required. We have eaten there several times on a Thursday night during the early bird special menu and I highly recommend it . On a scale of 1-10 I give them a 14. I was referred to the Ridge and have in turn referred many others. A smaller , very comfortable place with 100 year old victorian architecture and some of the best food and broad selection of entrees that I have experienced anywhere in a long time.“

“My husband & I organized a little 3 nite get-away to Woodloch Resort (Pines area) for ourselves, 3 other couples & one single friend. We are all in our 60s so everyone has had years to solidly determine they like their creature comforts. We are a pretty well-traveled group so some not easily impressed. Hubby, myself & our single friend have all been to Woodloch a few times & love it! We have never visited in November & hoped there would be enough for us to do. Planning to please 6 other adults left us with fingers-crossed, as inevitably there is always someone who feels a restaurant, hotel, etc. didn't quite meet their expectations. However for this trip, every person LOVED it!! The check-in is not until 5:00 pm but we were allowed to get our wristbands & enjoy the amenities of the resort while we waited for a text that our room was ready. The 3 couples each had Deluxe Lakeview accommodations in the Greenbriar bldg., attached to main building. They were thrilled with the beautiful view each morning from their room or while on their private balcony/patio. They were able to walk to the dining room, night club/show area, sports bar, or lobby which was our usual meeting point, all without going outside. They were right there for mini-golf, bocci, etc. For those traveling with kids it is close to the big playground, water slide in summer or snowtubing in winter, pedal boats or rowboats. My husband, friend & I shared an Edgewater Suite which had a full kitchen, a large bedroom with 2 queen beds, living room with pull out sleeper couch which my friend said was comfortable (but that's based on someone who regularly falls asleep lying on her couch - LOL) & a washer & dryer. Very spacious. It was a little bit of a walk to the main bldg which was no issue for hubs & me but my friend has walking issues. No problem there - there were 3 shuttles that ran right up until midnight. Never a long wait & at times we called the front desk if we knew she just missed it & another shuttle was immediately dispatched. When she asked an employee for a safe way to walk down to the pontoon boat ride as to not go down a somewhat steep walkway they offered to call for a golf cart ride & were right there with it. The one word to describe every employee would be "Accommodating!" Now, of course, food is also important. We had a meal plan that included breakfast & dinner. Both meals each day were plentiful, very good, good variety (breakfast standard crowd-pleasers of eggs any style, home fries, bacon/sausage/turkey bacon, & their homemade bread & morning cake (amazing crumb cake one day, an apple crumb another, etc.), or egg white frittata for those seeking a healthier alternative, just to name a few. Dinner always had homemade soup, family style serving of salad & veggie plus 4 entree choices that included an option for non-meat eaters. Of course, those delicious homemade breads were right there for the taking. Even when stuffed you must try their made-on-premises creamy ice cream. So delicious! The wait staff was attentive & pleasant. Jorge was our waiter for the first couple of days & just the nicest guy always greeting us even when not assigned to our table. Although lunch was not in our plan there was a Deli at the Inn at Woodloch that we visited each day. Homemade soup was great & a large choice of made to order sandwiches The sandwich price was generally a reasonable $10 & for the amt on that sandwich & given the fact Boars Head cold cuts are used I felt that was more than fair. Those with a family could always buy cold cuts & fresh Italian bread from another deli/store by the gas station within the resort premises & make their own. Each room has a fridge. There were plenty of activities: Name that Tune, Minute to Win it, bocci, mini-golf, pedal boats still operating in this cool weather, Go-Carts, & these senior citizens even went into child mode & did the bumper cars! “The food was delicious. They have live music on Saturday night which was ok. I personally would of like to see a better band and just just one guy playing guitar. The only reason this is not 5 stars is because the service. I was not told about the specials my main course came out half way through my appetizer. I was also waiting for my refill for sometime. I would give them a pass if it was busy but they were not. Still recommend though.“

“Mixed experiences multiple visits here. Some great visits, most recently cold food and inconsistent. Owner asked for feedback then became aggressive with my girlfriend when she told her the soup was cold and my sandwich was shredded instead of whole ribs. If the owners cooking, it’s been good. Otherwise, not very good. Atmosphere mixed, 2 separate rooms with VERY different vibes. Bar area is fun, but friendly lacks. Dining area less fun, but super friendly. Depends on the day. Be careful if you have complaints, owner is quite loud and defensive. She could be less confrontational as we were very calm and gave feedback which she asked for us to give if any future problems were to arise. She also approched our table saying “always a problem” instead of a simple “hi” or asking us what our complaint was. (We only had one complaint one other time which she corrected a burnt quesadilla) Not sure if we’ll be back anytime soon which stinks because it’s one of the few places in the area we are close to and is open late at night.“

“We had a lovely dinner tonight. The view was spectacular overlooking the falls, and the food was delicious. It was a great experience being able to try so many small plates for only $8 each. Our server, Xavier, was so friendly and made great suggestions. (He didn’t judge us for ordering so many small plates). :-)“

There are a lot of reviews complaining about rudeness from the staff, but they are truly the nicest people. If you’re nice to them, they will be nice to you.“
