“We had a tour last week with our beer guide Kevin. He was extremely knowledgeable about all beers and the history of the area, very friendly and just really enjoyable as a tour guide. We went to Old Thunder in Blawnox, Strange Roots in Millvale and Allegheny City on the North Side - each with its own ambiance and tasty brews. We'd be happy to go on another tour with friends sometime!“

Goodlander Cocktail Brewery Cocktail Bar • $$

“Wonderful cocktails, but I especially love the Gingerade, which is spicy fresh ginger and I can't get enough of it. Besides the front bar, there is a large event space in the back which is quite versatile. This place has reasonable prices, and a commitment to sustainability through recycling and reuse. The staff are amazing and welcoming.“

Grist House Craft Brewery Brewery • $$
10 E Sherman St, Millvale - 7.08 miles

“I've always been a fan of Grist House brewing. They have some good barrel aged stouts when they put them out. Also the IPA's are pretty solid. They seem to have a ton of sours as well which people love. I like them, but they don't like me (sours that is). Great outdoor space. I however at times get annoyed with some of the enormous dogs people bring. I have no issue with dogs, let me say that, but people sometimes bring massive dogs and are clueless to the fact that they are blocking doorways and things. It's also a Penn State brewery which is cool. They have firefest every year and that is a great time. Food trucks daily. Parking sucks, all street parking.“

Gyros N'at Food Trucks • $

“Great food at fair prices. Always a line (because the word is out) and always worth the wait. Portions are above average and the flavors are by no means generic. Tom, the owner, is always at the helm of this traveling ship and directly engaged in food preparation assuring that his high standards are met with each order. This truck has a following and a page online to let everyone know where it'll be...and folks will seek them out for that fix when only a great gyro will do.Keep up the good work!“

Inner Groove Brewing - Allentown Taproom Brewery • $$
827 E Warrington Ave, Pittsburgh - 5.29 miles

“A fun and eclectic brewery in Verona. Inner Groove's ~thing~ is having a great collection of records which are always spinning. It added a nice ambiance while sitting at the bar and whatever's playing is a good conversation starter with the bartenders who are really friendly and helpful. I felt the tap list is super IPA heavy, which I'm not as into anymore personally. But if you are, you'll love it! I tried a blonde ale and the rainbow sherbet sour (which legit tasted like melted rainbow sherbet). They were both good. I look forward to checking out this space again in the summer. It's really close to the river so I'm sure it's even better when you can spend time outside.“

Hitchhiker Brewing - Tap Room Brewery • $$
190 Castle Shannon Blvd, Pittsburgh - 7.47 miles

“Easily one of the top breweries in the area. Not only are their beers unique and tasty, but they generally have something that will please everyone. Some of the best beers I've had have come from Hitchhiker and while their cans are good in a pinch, their on tap beers are well worth the trip.My only knock is they need to expand somewhere else with more seating and do a food menu of their own rather than relying on food trucks which can be hit or miss (can't remove a star for that since it's clear this is only a taproom) .The staff is great and attentive and let you try something so you don't get a glass of something you will hate.Getting seating here sometimes can be problematic in the winter months; but their stuff is top shelf and worth it.One of my top 5 breweries in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.“

“Living 30 minutes from the city, surrounded by breweries, all within the 30 minute or less drive, it's tough to give anyone a 5 star rating, except the craft breweries that have survived for over 10 years. But I've found in the few times that I've been to LoLev, the service, vibe and of course the beers, are worth the trip. So LoLev is always on my list of stops, in their section of the city.“

“Brew Gentleman has always been a solid spot. We hadn't made our way out there for a bit but decided to check it out again. We were pleasantly surprised to see they changed it around a bit from the previous layout, and they added some nice touches. They always have a nice line up of styles, and their flagship beer is on tap. There is a beer garden around the back of the building that is not connected that provides additional space when the weather is nice. Four packs available on site to go. No food on site, but there is a food truck sometimes.“

“Dope little spot in Lawrenceville. Still owned by Cinderlands but rebranded. This menu is definitely better than the previous. Both beers tried were tasty. “I’ll start off by saying if the prices were lower, I’d be giving them five stars. The burgers are honestly very good but for what it is, and the portions, I feel it’s a tad overpriced. We’re paying about the same as one of Chicago’s best burger spots, but I usually leave there full. I never leave burghers full even though I finish my burger and fries. I don’t know what it is, I think the burger is not as filling as it looks? But it’s really good don’t get me wrong lol not a big fan of their beer, haven’t had one that I like that much yet. I’m more of an 11th Hour girl. But yes good experience overall and their smashed burger was way better than I thought it would be! Everything is ordered through your phone and servers only bring your stuff. It was quick but very impersonal and sterile - not a fan. Beer was really pretty middling - decent but not as good as I had last year. Food was definitely above average pub food and was quite good. Closes early ( what is up with that Pittsburgh??). Aslin Beer Company Brewery • $$
1801 Smallman St, Pittsburgh - 6.08 miles

“I'm a big fan of Aslin beer so I love having an Aslin location right here in Pittsburgh! This place is great for big groups with lots of long tables and open seating. Beers and food can be ordered via QR code at your table, which makes it easy for everyone to have their own separate tab. The food is overall pretty good. It's standard bar food but there's a nice variety of items to pick from. I loved the waffles fries! Since I've been doing Dry January I went with a non alcoholic "sour style" brew and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it compared to the sour beers I usually drink. We came specifically for the trivia night which we honestly didn't enjoy much. It was really difficult to hear the host and the questions weren't challenging. We ended up leaving after we ate to go to a different trivia night. Overall this is a great spot in The Strip for food and drinks!“
