“We got back from Japan a week ago and were missing the amazing food. Thankfully, my husband found Yukiyama. Wow! It was super authentic and we loved it. We ordered way too much food not thinking the portions would be Americanized. No matter. I'm happy to have leftovers for lunch this week. We loved the gyoza (dumplings). They were so soft, delicate and flavorful. They didn't need the sauce but the sauce was terrific. The pictures of their sushi looked good so I wanted to try it. The tuna roll was delicious and only $6. My husband loved his chashu (pork that tastes just like bacon) ramen. There were tons of noodles, huge pieces of pork and mushrooms. He really enjoyed it and was in the mood for ramen since we loved it so much in Japan. I got the chicken katsu (basically a cut up fried chicken cutlet or breast). It was so crispy, tender and flavorful. The portion was giant. It came with white rice, miso soup and the sweet and delicious katsu sauce that I love. We wi definitely be back to try other things when we come back out to Squirrel Hill. The man who brought out the food was so sweet. We miss Japan and found an amazing new spot.“

“It took me years to try this place which is sad because their sushi is amazing. I love the prices, the menu definitely has options but it isn’t overwhelming. I came in around 9:30 after craving sushi all day and the staff was friendly and quick to help out. They make the sushi right in front of you. It’s fresh even right before closing. They have a water machine while you wait for your food which isn’t much of a wait at all. The condiments bar was clean, the entire store was very clean. The decor is very cool and welcoming. I will have to come back.“

I’ve been there twice for dinner and absolutely loved the takoyaki (fried octopus balls, they were perfectly cooked. The gyudon (beef rice bowl) was just okay, but the rayu cucumbers were delightful and had the perfect crunch! It’s a great spot for a date night, especially with their shareable plates. “The Golden Gai in Bakery Square has a truly unique vibe—stylish, cozy, and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. We enjoyed chatting with our wonderful bartender Liz, had the chance to talk with the chefs, and were especially impressed with our server, Hiroki. His thoughtful recommendations and clear passion for what the restaurant offers added so much to the experience.
The cocktails were outstanding—we tried the Ryujin and the Fu Dog, both beautifully crafted. We started with the gyoza, which were truly next level, followed by delicate Madai nigiri sushi. For our entrées, we chose the chashu fried rice and the grilled wagyu with potatoes—both excellent. To finish, the soy brownie dessert is an absolute must. We each ordered our own and were very glad we didn’t have to share.
The pacing of the meal was perfect, allowing us to savor every course without feeling rushed. Golden Gai is a hidden gem that I would highly recommend. “Taipei is by far the best sushi and Chinese restaurant in the Fox Chapel area. The servers are courteous and the specialty sushi rolls are noticeabley larger and tastier than Jimmy Wan's. In my opinion, Taipei also offers a better selection than Jimmy Wan's. We also appreciate Taipei's complimentary fried wontons served before each meal and orange slices provided at the end of service. This family-friendly restaurant always make us feel at home.“

“I have ordered/eaten at this restaurant more than 5+ times. I am local. My 1&only complaint - if someone orders more than 1 sushi roll (2+), we would love 2 pairs of chopsticks. My husband & I order atleast once every 2 weeks & we both love sushi but only order 1 sushi roll each because we order a dinner combo as well plus appetizer. If we could have 2 sets of chopsticks when we order 2 or more sushi rolls, that would %125 make our whole day“
