I understand why this is a Philly institution… you walk in and feel like you’ve transported back in time! Handwritten menu on the wall with no prices, food being prepared right in front of you.

have the roast beef sandwich...AS GOOD AS ANY!
This is a very interesting place. I don’t mean the “hmmm… interesting “ you get from your partner when your attempted fusion cooking fails. This place radiates atmosphere; they don’t even a printed food menu, just several deli style sandwiches written on a board — roast meat (pork, or beef) with cheese, chicken salad, tuna salad. Cherry St. Tavern is a historic neighborhood pub with a cool vibe and excellent food. They serve simple, delicious dishes like roast beef and roast pork sandwiches, along with a good selection of beers on tap and in bottles. The staff is quality and old school in the best way, and the atmosphere is great - it's definitely a neighborhood bar where you feel like you're treated like family.
