“Ok but not great - the takoyaki was nowhere near as good as that from umami, as an example. The miso soup was a little too watery. Tea was served in a plastic water cup - ugh and no handle. The rolls were fine. Service was fast and efficient and friendly.“

“We got back from Japan a week ago and were missing the amazing food. Thankfully, my husband found Yukiyama. Wow! It was super authentic and we loved it. We ordered way too much food not thinking the portions would be Americanized. No matter. I'm happy to have leftovers for lunch this week. We loved the gyoza (dumplings). They were so soft, delicate and flavorful. They didn't need the sauce but the sauce was terrific. The pictures of their sushi looked good so I wanted to try it. The tuna roll was delicious and only $6. My husband loved his chashu (pork that tastes just like bacon) ramen. There were tons of noodles, huge pieces of pork and mushrooms. He really enjoyed it and was in the mood for ramen since we loved it so much in Japan. I got the chicken katsu (basically a cut up fried chicken cutlet or breast). It was so crispy, tender and flavorful. The portion was giant. It came with white rice, miso soup and the sweet and delicious katsu sauce that I love. We wi definitely be back to try other things when we come back out to Squirrel Hill. The man who brought out the food was so sweet. We miss Japan and found an amazing new spot.“

“Stop scrolling and just map here and go already! I grew up on the island of Guam with a wide variety of fresh authentic Asian food at my fingertips. Often eating Asian food is sad for me because it is so far from what I remember and reminds me of how far away I feel from the Pacific Ocean. Now that I’ve found this place, there’s nowhere else I will be going when I’m homesick and hungry. The owner and his family are simply precious, radiating quiet kindness and familial warmth to every guest who came in. They are a new restaurant, but the owners (both chefs) knew people by name and asked new guests their names, and served exquisite and beautiful food I will be thinking about for days. If you can, bring a friend with you so you can share something from Japan and something from Thailand on your first visit. You won’t regret it. Oh, and the donuts…
Vegetarian options: Most menu items can be made vegetarian or vegan!
Kid-friendliness: Kids menu, very relaxed and unpretentious, owners are parents and happy to host children.“

“Extensive seafood menu & fresh fish sold. Soup & chowder. We had the crab cake sandwich, it was not good. $23. Fishy. It could be much better. Not sure what type of crab is used, fairly certain it was not lump crab meat? We will try a different seafood entree or sandwich on our next visit & hope for better.“

“The lady was so nice and the chef came out to greet us as we ate our meal. She was very helpful in explaining to us the flavors and styles of each meal. The restaurant was very homely where you know it’s that authentic family recipe passed down from generation to generation. Our food was hot and served in a timely fashion. We will be back soon it was a great meal for a rainy Pittsburgh day.“

“this place is pretty cool honestly, the tech is pretty crazy. i love the concept as well, and good service.
i just don't think the food is all that high quality unfortunately, definitely more of a quantity over quality vibe here.“
“5 star sushi and some very creative options to choose from. My 5 year old and I are the only ones in my house that like sushi so I took her on a mommy and me date here. She loved it and so did I. If you're a fan of Crab Rangoon you will not be disappointed by the Crab Rangoon roll 😋“

“This place is fantastic!I used to work in SHV, and I would have killed for a sushi joint like this back in those days. Based on the prices and location, I would have never expected such a high quality meal with such a pleasant staff experience. I believe the gentleman who assisted me was named Bawi (I could have misheard). He could not have been more kind and gracious. I was there at the end of the night after a fairly slow weekday for them, and he was telling me how they make all of their Sushi fresh --every single day. Since they would not be carrying any of their pre-prepared rolls into the next day, he sent me home with a few samples of some rolls to try something new and share w/ my family. We loved everything!I highly recommend giving them a chance the next time you find yourself in or around the food court!“

“I recently ate at Kiku and the sushi was the best I have ever eaten. The sushi was fresh and delicious, as it has been every time I have eaten there. It is definitely the best sushi in the area. You can taste the true flavor of the fish without sauces or spices. At Kiku you will enjoy an authentic sushi experience that won't disappoint.“

“It took me years to try this place which is sad because their sushi is amazing. I love the prices, the menu definitely has options but it isn’t overwhelming. I came in around 9:30 after craving sushi all day and the staff was friendly and quick to help out. They make the sushi right in front of you. It’s fresh even right before closing. They have a water machine while you wait for your food which isn’t much of a wait at all. The condiments bar was clean, the entire store was very clean. The decor is very cool and welcoming. I will have to come back.“

“Very well decorated, seems humble from the outside but once you step in you are greeted with great service and a genuine Asian atmosphere. They have all you can eat sushi here and many options to choose from including my favorite CHICKEN tempura roll! I was able to order some salmon, crunchy roll, spicy tuna roll.. and if you don’t want to do the sushi you can always have the chicken or steak hibachi which comes with a sort of honey bbq sauce on top of it. Both were very delicious. They honestly put a lot of protein in the sushi so if you’re a fan of the raw, go for it! The only thing was that in some fo the google images it appears to say the all you can eat is 23 dollars but it’s actually 29 which is still a pretty incredible deal for the amount they offer to you, but of course 23 would be better lol“

“Overall I would say this place is really good!! We did go back when it was first opening up, so I think there was some learning curves.. I am eager to get back and try it again!
Our waitress was very nice! Everything was explained to us very well.
We ordered appetizers- spring rolls and gyoza, both were very good!
When they came out, we ordered our first sushi, it took over 45 minutes for our first sushi to come out.
We ordered the yellowtail jalapeño and the dynamite roll.
Being honest, I didn’t care for the yellowtail jalapeño roll. The raw jalapeño over took the whole thing- that’s just my opinion though.
HOWEVER the dynamite roll, AMAZING.
Definitely the star of the show and I feel like I could have eaten 100 of them.
Unfortunately that’s all we got with our AYCE though because of how long everything was taking.
But my food was so good. So I highly recommend!
Will update when I go back about timing!“

“Umami is a vibe! The artwork, music, and service come together to create an incredible atmosphere. I’ve been there twice for dinner and absolutely loved the takoyaki (fried octopus balls, they were perfectly cooked. The gyudon (beef rice bowl) was just okay, but the rayu cucumbers were delightful and had the perfect crunch! It’s a great spot for a date night, especially with their shareable plates. You should definitely make a reservation before going!“

“🌟 A Sushi Delight in Downtown Pittsburgh! 🌟 If you’re a sushi lover, you absolutely must try the Spider Roll at Luke Wholey’s Wild Alaskan Grille. This incredible roll is a symphony of textures and flavors that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy. Imagine biting into a perfectly crispy USDA soft shell crab, complemented by the fresh crunch of asparagus and cucumber, the creamy richness of avocado, and the delightful pop of masago. This roll is huge and too big for our chopstick skills, so we used our fingers! Each piece is generously topped with a luscious combination of eel sauce, spicy sauce, and a sprinkle of scallions, adding a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy notes. For just $19, you get 10 pieces of this culinary masterpiece, making it not only a delicious treat but also a fantastic value. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or just looking to try something new, the Spider Roll at Luke Wholey’s is a must-try experience in the heart of Pittsburgh. 🍣✨“

“We had a great experience here. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented — everything we ordered was delicious. The wait staff was friendly and attentive throughout the evening, checking in regularly and making sure we had everything we needed. Even when the sushi bar got a bit backed up, they were quick to apologize for the delay and kept us updated, which we really appreciated. It's clear they care about both the quality of their food and the customer experience. We'll definitely be back — this place is a new favorite!“

“I'm so glad that the rice inn has become a staple in the bethel park dining scene. They're so nice and the food is consistently excellent. We usually get sushi, which is always fresh and well prepared. Also, they have the best miso soup in the South Hills and maybe the world.“

“Clean, fresh, thoughtful, technical, friendly, affordable... It's been ages since a Japanese restaurant hit all these notes for me. I had sushi rolls, husband had ramen every aspect of both items were spot on, would recommend if you appreciate pleasant surprises.“

“Great food, service and restaurant!! My only reason for the four stars is the price. I get that quality ingredients and service comes with the cost but these are common Chinese dishes like sesame chicken and beef lo mein that all cost around $20 each where the same dish is 25%-50% elsewhere.
Again everything about Sesame in is great, it's just a high price for the food.“

“Zen Asian Diner’s food is FANTASTIC! I waited through my whole pregnancy to have sushi and we ordered from here. IT WAS AMAZING! In the last week, I have had their sushi or sashimi three times! Their menu has a great variety of different Asian foods. My husband really enjoys their General Tso’s Chicken saying that it is way better than other places’. Today we dined in the restaurant where the staff was very friendly and fast. The meals’ presentations were lovely.“

“My husband and I took our son out for some good food and when I tell you this restaurant understood the assignment they totally get an A+! We ordered the Singapore noodle combination, egg soup, Rangoon, shrimp egg rolls, beef and broccoli with fried rice and sweet and sour chicken with steamed white rice. The shrimp egg rolls are good just don’t count the shrimp (haha) but still it was delicious! The server was on point the chef made our dinner with care the staff was just amazing we also ate inside at a clean table covered with white linen. Everything was just perfect this place is a hidden gem I’m so glad we found I literally want to eat dinner there again tonight! Family of 3 full meals with 2 adult Long Island drinks $98 well worth every dollar!“

“Love this restaurant for Chinese food. Just a word of advice if you like dishes spicy this is the place to go if you like slightly spicy don't ask for extra spicy. You won't be able to eat it 😭. But that's good at least you know they don't mass produce.“

“I have been dining here since at least about 2013 and I honestly enjoy my experience each and every time. Ten years later, and now a vegan, I order the “hot pepper tofu”, a variation of a go-to chicken dish that reminds why I continue to make the trek or pilgrimage to this day. Savory onions, heat from jalapeños, and sweet while comfortably searing chili sauce all come together for what I would probably have down for breakfast through dinner. Perfecting this at home might be okay for my wallet but I would still be searching for their friendly faces and comfortable, laidback atmosphere. Well done China Wok ✌️“

“Service was good especially considering rush. Place looks fabulous, prime photo-op location.
Drinks are somewhat limited, mostly just sweet cocktails. Would be nice to have better tap selections and Japanese whiskeys.
Food was mostly decent except for the grilled stuff like Miso Salmon - that was spectacular. It was the only thing worth the price (everything is kinda expensive).“

“This place was awesome! I took a chance, I was a little hesitant because I hadn’t tried a lot of the food prior to ordering. So I got the crab ragoon & the basil chicken & omg it was sooo amazing!! I did a pick up order on Door Dash & it was almost 12 at night I was at work, so I was lucky they were open so late. But I def am ordering again asap & I would recommend to anyone interested!“

“I have been coming here for almost 20 years, and the quality remains stupendous. We recently came about an hour before close, and the manager or owner made a point to make us, and hand-deliver, fresh portions of our favorite foods. There was nothing to prompt him to do that, and it was very nice. Very much appreciated. Thank you“

“Its a great place for families. They always are accommodating for our large party. There's a variety of food options from hot to cold. Mild to spicy. The cost is extremely reasonable. If you need to work through lunch it's also a good alternative to a café. Not too loud.“
