Had to come back for a specialist appointment yesterday, and asked friends, where can I get a good hoagie in Newtown Square. A Cut Above Deli was the ONLY recommendation, and they were 100% right! The hoagie was ready on time, wrapped in four sheets of paper, and was solid, hefty. The countermen were friendly and genuine. $15 for a "regular" seemed steep, but I was judging them by the standards of lesser sandwiches; once I opened it and got a bite, I realized it was a fair price. I can’t even decide which was better or what the best part of the sandwich was because everything tasted so good. The chicken cutlets were cooked to absolute perfection. The flavor is incredible. Cupbop is always great and hardy! They are a family and very friendly people every time. This most recent experience was interesting. I placed an online order and went to pick it up and when i got there all the lights were out due to a black out. I saw someone else go inside and talked to the owners about my order, and they still made my order for me in pitch black! I have never had a restaurant do this, ever. Amazing selection of snacks and candies, including items imported from Europe and Asia. And the deli food is soo good. Large selection of sandwiches, including a bunch of vegetarian/vegan options. Comes with a free pickle! Very filling, and the ingredients are always fresh, even when ordering late at night. I agree with others that service can be slow sometimes. I think this is because they are getting so many new customers. I try to order online to avoid the wait. Hopefully they hire one or two more employees for their busy times (especially at night, when other places are closed).

“I recently bought a hoagie from Tony’s Hoagies at 2nd and Porter because a friend of mine used to bring them meetings not to far away.She said she couldn’t get to Rocco’s so she went to Tony’s. I told her about Jeannie’s. Tony’s were pretty good I was pretty hungry which helped. When I was eating the Hoagie I couldn’t help thinking I wish I had a Jeannie’s Hoagie plus I get to talk to Jimmy McAllister who owns it while his son Steve makes it. I know a lot of the regulars so I get to catch up on some of the news in S Philly. And Jimmy is one of funniest people on the planet. I don’t know why but his Liverwurst is the best I ever had and I lived in NYC. In the mornings I often would get a BLT also outstanding and the prices you have to ask twice because they are so cheap., 7 out of 10 times I will get a coffee and sometimes to go and eat the sandwich and drink the coffee in Marconi Park a mere 10 minute walk. This Joint is a WINNER“

She forgot a couple items but was well spoken and sincere. We and others could easily see how much she was challenged. A big crowd came in right away. I showed her my appreciation by giving her a reasonable gratuity...There was a delay in someone else not receiving his meal-a simple breakfast sandwich-within 30 minutes.
