“the food was good but was very turned off by the cleanliness of the place. It definitely needs a good cleaning, the window AC unit was disgusting and the heating vent above the refrigerator was loaded with grease and dust clumps. the backside of the crepe grill was also dripping with grease.the young male cook on the crepe station kept.taking his gloves off and running his hands through his hair, at one point he blew his nose and put his gloves back on without ever washing his hands the whole time we were waiting for our food. the food was good so i would be willing to try the new place on Steubenville Pike hoping it will be clean.“

“The atmosphere is a cute n' cozy country spot, yet it's right in North Side! It truly feels like the store takes you somewhere else, and boy does that biscuit sandwich take your breath somewhere else too! Wow it was so delicious, I was genuinely shocked because I haven't eaten something that incredible in a while! The service was lovely, and the waiter was incredibly kind enough to get me another refill on their drool worthy tea! “Got a 412 with vanilla syrup and a blueberry muffin. ? Both of the guys behind the counter were super nice. Someone ahead of us forgot their phone, and the Barista went running out and chased down the guy to give it back. That's above and beyond to me. Many people would just stow it for when the person came back. The 412 was delicious, and the muffin he gave me actually wound up being chocolate, but I didn't realize till I got to my car. It was still awesome and fresh. I'm not saying don't go to Starbucks across the street, but local is Thank you!!“

The store is immaculate, and one of my favorite things is the double door system at the entrance which deters insects, varmints, and unsanitary conditions that come along with those. Oh, you can also watch the pitas being made through the glass wall as they come off the conveyor and get ready to come to your house.“

Of course the coffee is great, the staff is wonderful, and the ambiance is homey and welcoming! There are many rotating choices of treats, sandwiches, and salads! The kitchen is quick and my friends and I have always enjoyed our selections. There is ample parking out front and even some secret spots in the back if you can get them. Front and rear entrances offer great access. Customers include an eclectic crowd of locals and visitors, young and old, moms and babies, friends and families, singles and groups, and even a few old timers! The store is family owned and the personal touch shines through in everything they do! There's lots of seating downstairs and up, the ordering line moves quickly, and I've even shared a table during the busiest times. Carnegie Coffee opens early and is open through the day. It is centrally located in the mix of restaurants and shops that comprise Carnegie's Main Street and downtown. This is a great place to take a break in historic Carnegie Borough!“

“A great little local spot on the North Side to pick up coffee and breakfast! I stopped on a weekday morning and only the window was open for ordering - not sure how frequent that is, but it was easy and I got my order quickly. The latte and croissant were both very good! There were quite a few pastry options, but not a lot of larger breakfast items if that's what you're looking for.“

“As I've posted before, I'm a bit of a coffee snob and I prefer local, non-corporate coffee. I also like places with personality, great customer service and, of course, great coffee. Cafe cravings had it all. It's old school -- and seems to attract people from all walks of life. There was a line out the door and only two workers but they were hustling while simultaneously bantering with the locals and maintaining a great attitude. We ordered breakfast sandwiches and an americano, which were as tasty as we'd have hoped, but the 5 star review has far more to do with the authenticity of this neighborhood gem. “This bar/restaurant is fantastic! I would give it 15 stars if I could. The bartender, Charley, is incredibly talented. He made the BEST espresso martini I have ever had. The food was delicious. My husband and I each got fish sandwiches which tasted incredible. Their soups are homemade and we tried the seafood chowder and their cream of mushroom soup. Both soups were out of this world! Compliments to the chef, for sure! The atmosphere was wonderful. The natural handmade wooden bar-top is a focal point for sure! Overall it was a really enjoyable time! “We decided to walk through the Southside down to the Highline to see what's new. We checked out the Burgers menu and then continued to De fer @ The Highline to take the chill off. Arriving around 11am, it was quiet with just the right music buzz and volume for a pleasant stay. The barrista was pleasant and set to making our cappuccinos like a real coffee shop. They were beautifully presented and delicious. The shop has a french motif but opens to a modern industrial lobby with comfy chairs, where it seems a number of small work meetings were taking place. The lobby is large, and the furniture is well spaced for privacy. The lobby has charging available for electronics. As a bonus, if you are reducing your carbon footprint, the parking garage has vehicle charging stations. We left De fer for a walk on the trail as noon approached, and the shop got busier with people coming in for snacks, salads, and cold drinks.“

“My first trip to Pittsburgh and looking for breakfast I come upon this little cafe On Forbes Ave. A charming little nook open Monday-Friday and only for breakfast and lunch. They only accept cash so have some handy or use the ATM that is will be directly behind you when placing your order. The nicest, friendliest staff and great food. For the breakfast and lunch rush the have an upstairs area otherwise you are on the main floor. Prices are very reasonable as they cater to their many regulars at the courthouse and nearby businesses ( this means you won't get shafted by tourist prices). I opted for the Western Omelette with potatoes, toast, and tea that cost $10.95 and worth every penny. Definitely making the stop on any return trips.“

But yea they need to work on that coffee. My friend ordered a turmeric latte, and she said it wasn’t good either.“

Overeasy eggs are also cooked perfectly. Carry and Barb are 2 of the best breakfast chefs I have had out, period.. I live about 3 miles away from the restaurant location so since I discovered it I try to stop once or twice a week. Definitely one of Pittsburgh's hidden local neighborhood gems. Wanting to get out of downtown for a few hours, we meandered points east to come upon this area between Point Breeze and Squirrel Hill North neighborhoods. The popularity of this restaurant necessitated us to have a moderate wait, which is easily spent walking around the surrounding neighborhood (community yard sale was going on…perfect). Seating is tight inside this restaurant converted from a house. “I wasn't able to cook Christmas dinner. We were calling every place on Christmas day. Manny's was the only one to answer. Sam was so sweet. Even though they weren't doing orders to go or anything like that I think he really felt how much I needed this. Not just the food but a win you know. He so incredibly kind to me. We've never ate there. So, I hung up looked up the menu and called back with our order which was a big one. Again he was awesome answering questions about the food as I placed the order. Explained it would take a little bit since it was just him cooking it. I honestly didn't care how long it took as long as the food tasted half way decent. “Don't let the exterior fool you, they have some dang good food. We had a couple of fish sandwiches and a half dozen wings on wing night. We weren't expecting them to be massive whole wings but they were, making the $1/wing price a great value. The fish sandwiches were also massive and delicious. Drinks were cheap and strong. There was a friendly, mature crowd there, a bit loud with yelling, but the yelling was that of a good time, not anger. We clearly were newcomers but the crowd was friendly, especially a guy who said his mom was the cook and made us feel welcome. I'll come back here for sure.“
