“Great experience! The food was delicious. There aren't any other authentic experiences like this in Pittsburgh! So much thought and care put in to every dish. Delicious hand crafted cocktails. The entire team was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant!“
“Came to give my out of town friend a taste of local sushi, not knowing what to look for. Saw the good reviews and they are 100% accurate. Presentation was great and we both left happy. My friend said the maya was great, he enjoyed its flavor.“
“This place seems to be authentic for me. Small Korean restaurant with few extra seats on the second floor. Waiting time around 15 mins because they are busy with other orders. The counter desk lady is quick and serious. I ordered the most expensive dish in the menu - galbi bento (Korean short ribs). Decent size portion, enough for a man to get full, meat was fresh with balanced marinade but chewy for me. So, I was not able to eat every piece of meat in whole. Nice place to explore. Would order unagi bowl next time.“
“Soba provides a memorable experience to share dinner and great conversation with a friend. After beautifully crafted cocktails, we enjoyed the Chopped Salad and Crispy Tofu. The visual artistry and flavor bomb of the Chocolate Maki is simply devine.“
“Nice little hole in the wall sushi place. Pretty comprehensive list of sushi and sashimi options with plenty of rolls as well. Fairly priced, well made. Not a fancy sit down restaurant but it makes good food if you're looking for a quick sushi “
“Visited Umi last night with my wife and ordered the 7 course tasting menu. Fish seemed fresh, and service was prompt and descriptive of each dish. I thought the sauces pair with many of the sashimi courses were a little too sweet. I was also disappointed with the dessert course. It was just 5 pieces of chocolate. We ordered a couple of drinks, and they were good.Overall, I think it is better than Gi Xin downtown and at the same price point.“
“AMAZING experience ! I loved everything I ordered. I got the fried chicken, the fried tempura sushi roll, and the onigiri which was the highest quality tuna I’ve ever had in my life it was sooo good! We got a nice private room for my party and everything about this place is meticulously detailed! Go go go!!!“
“Never had Ramen from here and figured I'd try it. All my friends raved about it and they were right. Delicious. Service was excellent and the price was right. Will definitely be back!!!Update: another delicious bowl of Ramen, but I sure wish they would sell their T-shirts!!!“
“I have ordered take out from this place a few times and definitely wanted to dine in at some point because the crepes were incredible. They have a wide variety of options compared to a lot of other crepe places. I got the lychee romantic and it’s delicious. Unlike a lot of other lychee desserts, they use the actual fruit and hence, there is no artificial taste to it. It’s also worth the money because it has lychees, raspberries, pistachios, custard cream and yogurt. We also have tried mango deluxe and mango raspberries and they are so also great. Also, it’s a cute cozy place and can serve as a quick hangout spot or late dessert spot. I only wish it was open a little more late into the night.“
“One of the best restaurants I've ever been to, everytime I go I know il be leaving with a happy stomach and smile on my face, best sushi anywhere around, always so fresh and beautiful and their regular entrees are amazing as well! The rainbow roll is so good and my partner is obsessed with the seven stars around the moon dish, will always recommend this restaurant :)“
“It's a nice place. It's a little small but it works for them in a casual stop-in-for-a-bite way. I enjoyed my meal enough that I think I'd enjoy a different selection more and would be happy to go again. They could use bigger bowls though. The portion is not at all at issue. I definitely felt it was generous but the size and/or maybe shape of the bowl made it a bit of a chore to eat.“
“If you are going for the all you can eat sushi I think it is a fair deal! $27 and the menu is huge! Go hungry! The sushi was tasty and came pretty quickly. I would stick only to the sushi though! The appetizers tasted frozen and the noodle soup had no flavor. The only appetizer we liked was the sexy jalapeños but still just B grade! But the sushi was worth it! Tons of choices! The waiter was great and checked on us multiple times so we didn't feel bad about placing many orders! It is pretty crowded and noisy in there but a fun time!“
“I got the bonito yaki onigiri, the bacon mochi and the miso soup for a simple meal. The service was very quick and polite, the restaurant is very sweetly decorated and you can tell the family who runs it is very dedicated to it. The onigiri and the miso soup both lacked in flavor, but the bacon mochi was very flavorful and unique and would probably be the only thing I would reorder if I go.“
“Every single thing we ordered just blew us away! The flavors are simply incredible - I always try to get something new that I don’t recognize and I’m never disappointed! They do an excellent job of accommodating dietary restrictions and the food come out right away once you order. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about all the dishes and they really care about you having a good experience. I’m already making my next reservation!Vegetarian options: Congee, tofu, dumplings, rice, noodles, cocktails!Dietary restrictions: They have a special menu for vegans, seafood allergies, gluten free, etc. - the gold standard in my opinion!“
“Hands down the best sushi spot in Pittsburgh. If you are looking for something simple, authentic, and fresh, it’s the spot for you. If you are one of those people that likes their sushi to be loaded with bunch of crunchy stuff and all kinds of sauces, it’s not the best choice for you my friend, you may want to stick with Giant Eagle sushi then. This place serves authentic sustainable food, and not junk.“
“We had the strongman role and it was really good and fresh. Also tried the tuna avocado roll and that was really good as well. We'll go back and try some other things. The only thing I questioned was a strong manual had a piece of lettuce in it why lol?“
“Great sushi and fair prices in my opinion! They do get quite busy at night so don’t be surprised if there is a wait. Plenty of different sushi options available. They accept Pitt off campus dining dollars which is awesome for students with a meal plan. The workers here are nice.Vegetarian options: Options are limited but exist.“
“A good all around Asian restaurant with a varied menu that covers enough bases for everyone to find something they like: Sushi, a broad selection of the usual American Chinese dishes, Pad Thai, Thai Curries, …The prices were very fair for being located on Walnut Street in Shadyside. Noodles or fried rice were in the $13 -$16 range and 75% of the other entrees in the $16 - $20 range. Regular sushi rolls were priced between $6 - $9 and most Special Rolls were $15 - $17.We enjoyed the sushi which was comparatively good for the city in an energetic, above average atmosphere for this type of restaurant. Nice, sturdy take home bags were a plus.“
“This place definitely isn’t bad, and I feel the rating is a tad low. Now, I haven’t tried their sushi, but they’re poke bowls — those are quite good, I believe. I tried their Build Your Own Poke bowl, which I created with brown rice, smoked salmon, tempura flakes, soy sauce, carrots, corn, edamame, and sweet chili sauce. The portion itself was good, and a solid price as well. The location is confident, too. The food itself, I felt was pretty good quality. Although they called it smoked salmon, it didn’t have a very strong Smokey flavor, but it was still good. The vegetables seemed to be fresh. The brown rice was well cooked, and the sauces blended together well. They gave me numerous packets of soy sauce on the side. All in all, very solid place. Is it the best or the most authentic? No, but it’s quick, has good prices, a confident location, and solid food.Vegetarian options: You can choose vegetarian proteins and make great bowlsDietary restrictions: Lots of healthy options“
“This is a really awesome location and interesting fusion restaurant-night club in Pittsburgh. The DJ was really awesome, the space was open and welcoming, the facilities were very clean, and the overall experience was good! The drinks were club-priced, but that’s to be expected. I will be back!Parking: Unsure what the proper parking is.Kid-friendliness: 21+ only at nightWheelchair accessibility: Actually wheelchair-accessible, which is rare in Pittsburgh.“
“this is a legit japanese/asian restaurant. the food is high quality and delicious. check out the "stone cooking". they bring you two very very hot stones and raw meat and you cook your food at the table. it was great because i like my seafood (shrimp and scallops this time) to be raw in the center. we also used the stones to keep the rest of the food steaming hot such as the thai basil (excellent), asparagus and french fries. also had a great specialty roll that was awesome, sushi sampler that was very fresh and tasty and dumplings that were the best we've ever had. wife said that the mixed drinks were very good. service was excellent. restaurant was very clean with an inviting atmosphere. this place is a must!!“
“This place was amazing. The food was so delicious, my friends and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and our evening here. Our waitress was so kind and helpful, I feel terrible I didn't catch her name! The prices were great too. It was a spur of the moment decision to come here and we were thrilled.“
“It's at a food court in the mall so what can I say about the atmosphere? The price was right and the food was good. $13 for chicken teriyaki and a drink. The funny thing was that I went for Japanese food and the workers were 3 Hispanic guys who didn't know English very well. They did a good job.“
“Little Tokyo is AMAZING! I love both their locations (Mt. Lebanon and this one in the Southside) but this one is our go to since it’s so close to the city. Their sushi is always delicious and the service is great for take out or dine in. You can tell the owners are very hard workers who take pride in their restaurants. So happy to have this spot close by for any time I want sushi!“
“While the food at this restaurant is delicious, the serving order could be better. They serve fried rice first, which fills you up before trying other dishes. The staff could also use more training as they seemed inattentive. Overall ambiance is good.“
“This was a nice very reasonably priced small sushi establishment. Parking however was a nightmare, so if possible walk to this location. The staff was very friendly and gave me a good recommendation. I had the Eye of the Tiger Roll and it was great. It was spicy but I like it that way and in my personal opinion if you’re not crying a little bit then it’s not spicy enough. Haha. Hopefully this helped with your selection. Overall, I would definitely recommend to come here for lunch.“
“I love the original location, however this second location is a little more spacious. The prices are very reasonable, and the food is delicious Our order came out quickly. The bill is paid right at the table, which is much more secure and much speedier.“
“I have been dining here since at least about 2013 and I honestly enjoy my experience each and every time. Ten years later, and now a vegan, I order the “hot pepper tofu”, a variation of a go-to chicken dish that reminds why I continue to make the trek or pilgrimage to this day. Savory onions, heat from jalapeños, and sweet while comfortably searing chili sauce all come together for what I would probably have down for breakfast through dinner. Perfecting this at home might be okay for my wallet but I would still be searching for their friendly faces and comfortable, laidback atmosphere. Well done China Wok ✌️“
“After several other restaurants were closed or closing we stopped at Watami Hibachi Steakhouse and grabbed a menu, just to see what some of the offerings were. After viewing the menu, I just blurted out steak and shrimp with noodles?!? I have sampled many different Asian dishes, but I was completely and totally blown away!!!!! This meal is the milestone by which ALL future experiences will be measured!!! It is HANDS DOWN the BEST MEAL I've had in recent memory. The taste, texture and flavor ranked an 89 on a scale of 1 to 10 and will be my only stop for Asian food PERIOD!!! If this is any indication of the other menu items. I might begin to try sushi and other items beyond my usual taste preferences.“
