“It was here that I first discovered Lanzhou noodle soup, and it quickly became my favourite place to eat during the years I lived in Montreal from 2014 to 2018.

After leaving the city, I moved around quite a bit across Europe and the Americas. In each new place, one of the first things I’d do was search for the best Lanzhou noodle spot. Some of those bowls were excellent, but nothing ever matched what I remembered from Nouilles Lan Zhou.

When I finally returned to Montreal this summer for the first time since 2018, I came back here and ordered a bowl. After six years, I realised what I’d been missing. The flavour and texture blew me away all over again.

Thank you, Nouilles Lan Zhou, for serving me the best bowl of my favourite food. I can’t wait to visit Lanzhou itself someday to try the original, but this place will always be special to me.“

Give this lovely couple a chance to take care of your palate. I had the Shanghai original spicy soup - tasty, comforting, and authentic. Great quality and quantity for the price. “Ordered the combo meals for soup dumplings, chicken wonton soup, fried shrimp, hot and sour soup, egg rolls, and honey yuzu tea. The sweet, hot tea is wonderful on a cold day. The soup dumplings are good, but the skin is slightly thick, in my opinion. Wonton soup broth and sour soup are quite good. Shrimp and egg rolls are just okay.

It's obvious everything is thoughtfully and craftfully made when they source their meat from local farms. We have never been disappointed here. Their 芋頭糕 (taro cake) for the Lunar New Year is THE best. (We order in advance - they are so popular!) We enjoy their 粽 (zongzi) during the Dragonboat festival too. “My friend and I were in the mood for Chinese Food and dined at Deer Garden.

The restaurant is clean, well- illuminated and basic in atmosphere.

We ordered Fried Spinach, Shrimp With Chinese Broccoli and Cantonese Fried Noodles.

The Fried Spinach was sugar- coated and brittle to the touch. It was good but an acquired taste.

The Shrimp with Chinese Broccoli was tasty, but the broccoli stalks did not need to be julienned at all. Still, well- flavored.

The Cantonese Fried Noodles had a very good proportion of sauce to noodles, with delicious vegetables covering the noodles. My favorite of the three ordered dishes.

Service was excellent.

“Best Chinese food restaurant in Montreal for Beef & Chinese broccoli; Cantonaise chow mein; Chicken fried rice; Sweet & sour pork; and Lemon chicken! Since coming from Vancouver I have been searching for a good, tasty restaurant and I'm so grateful I found this one. As soon as I walked in the door on New Years Eve at 7pm, I was warmly greeted. Without a reservation, I was still seated promptly and served water and tea instantly. The servers were kind, friendly, and super efficient. The food came out within a decent timeframe considering how busy it was. It was all truly delicious. We ate enough to be full at the dinner table and we both had enough to take-out for full meals later on. I also appreciated the freshly cut oranges at the end of meal. A sweet way to end a great time here.“

What a gem. Such a random location but the food is amazing. Fresh noodles and dumplings; super flavourful meat. I also think it’s BYOB- though we didn’t know before hand. This will be our go-to for dumplings on the south shore for sure.“

“I had dinner here on a weekend night, arriving around 8 PM. The owner was very accommodating and even though they close at 9 PM, they let us stay until 9:20.

We ordered the Dapanji (Big Plate Chicken), and the portions were very generous—we ordered the medium size and still had plenty left to take home. The naan was soft and flavorful, perfect for dipping in the Dapanji sauce. The smashed cucumber salad was decent, though the cucumbers were a bit sparse compared to the amount of dressing. The lamb soup was well-seasoned with just the right amount of salt, and the lamb flavor was mild, not too gamey.

While the menu doesn’t offer a wide variety of dishes, each one is a specialty from the Taklamakan region. If you’re interested in this culture’s cuisine, I highly recommend giving this place a try.“

“One of the few high-end Chinese restaurants in Montreal! The food is authentic Szechuan, so be prepared for spicy food if you order from the special menu (it's worth it). I highly suggest reserving and pre-ordering the Peking duck, lobster, or Vancouver crab. Unlike many Chinese restaurants, service is excellent here. The free parking after 5 is also appreciated. Decor is casual-chic. And also unlike other Chinese restaurants, the place is spotlessly clean. I'm so glad Piment Rouge is back. It's a great place for a casual meal or a big celebration. Service - 5/5 - Was promptly seated during the end of dinner rush. We got our food quickly. They helped us pack up the left overs and even provided plastic bags to wrap the containers so they don't leave, plus a small reusable bag to carry out multiple containers. Tea was provided. My partner, being of Chinese decent, was welcomed and asked if he spoke mandarin and the employees (maybe owner or related to owner) spoke with him.

“10/10 food and atmosphere. I got the spicy lamb with cumin and it was easily one of the best dishes I had in all of Montreal.

Plus, they were accomodating and communicative with my mother regarding moderating spiciness level for her 😉“
