“Oktoberfest done right at Kahnawake Brewing Company...in October, as it should be! 🤣 We shared a big pretzel with beer mustard and spicy beer cheese. I got the jagerschnitzel and she got the "wurst dog ever"...beer-battered bratwurst sausage with all the fixings. Only thing that was missing was the advertised pretzel bun! It definitely was far from the worst dog ever! 😜 It was very loud in there and service was slow, which I hope is not the norm for this place because the food, ambiance and beers are very good! Also, they increased the price of the pretzel by 20%. Overall 3.5/10 Our 1st visit at this brewery and not our last! 😃“

“This is the best falafel I've ever had anywhere! I wished I still lived in Montreal - I'd be at this place at least once a week. I will make sure to get there any time I am in town. Their vegan "meats" made of mushroom are fantastic as well.“

“We first came here while dating back in 2024 and absolutely fell in love with this place. Coming back here for the second time last week felt so special, and it was just as amazing as we remembered. The food, drinks, ambience and everything was perfect. Easily a 10/10 for us. If you’re visiting Montreal, this place is definitely a must-visit 🤍“

“I am writing this review sitting here in Vancouver, BC. I lived in Montreal for five long years in Côte-des-Neiges (same neighbourhood as Chez Lee )and only came across this gem 2 years before leaving. Everything about this restaurant is AMAZING! Especially Chicken Katsu and Bibimbap-two of my absolute favs. ❤️ You can blindly trust when I say they serve authentic, fresh, and big portions of food. I miss it everyday 🥹Hope to return soon to cure some of my nostalgia ❤️“

“I somehow managed to be given the best seat in the house: next to the kitchen, and right next to the chef, Josh Crowe. The experience of sitting at the bar allowed me to better appreciate the inner workings of this 30-year old establishment. The staff were as kind and supportive of each other, as they were to the guests, who filled the restaurant, bar, and terrace on this warm May evening. I observed Chef Josh and co-owner Barbara Irwin continuously interacting with each staff member. I had never witnessed such a high level of communication, where information flowed seamlessly from the front of the restaurant to the kitchen and vice versa. My meal began with a great cocktail and was followed by a glass of Spanish red, which paired very well with the best pork chop that I have ever had. The 3-inch thick chop was perfectly cooked and the complex flavours of the dish melted together harmoniously. It has been a few years since my last meal there, but I will be back shortly to enjoy the social sidewalk terrace, which offers the best in NDG people watching. You may decide to go to the Tavern for the food, cocktails, and wine list, but you will also be treated to the culture that Barbara & Josh have established over the past decade. They have created something special and seem fully committed to maintaining the same high level of culinary experience and appreciation for their patrons. My overall impression of the Monkland Tavern is one highlighting a collaborative team approach, effective two-way communication, a concentrated attention to every detail of the dining experience, professional courtesy, and mutual respect. I was impressed and you surely will be too.“

“Absolutely incredible experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, elegant, and authentic. The food was beyond amazing — every dish was full of flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The grilled meats were perfectly cooked, the rice was fresh and fragrant, and the appetizers were some of the best Persian food I’ve had in a long time.
What really made the experience stand out was the hospitality. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and made us feel genuinely taken care of throughout the evening. You can tell this restaurant takes pride in both its food and service.

“Closest to halmeoni’s cooking in the city. It has all the classic comfort dishes you want and definitely agree that the seafood pancake is the best in the city. The atmosphere is also classic, which I like. Only downside is there’s little space so tables are quite close together.“
