“I don’t think we ever ate so well in a restaurant, and it’s not an overstatement. We were looking for whole foods, healthy and nutritious options and… well, we found this place, and it didn’t disappoint. Everything felt so fresh, made on the spot, with a simple menu of vegan and vegetarian options changing every day and according to the season. The atmosphere is also really relaxing and people working here are so nice. I wish we lived in Ottawa to come back to this place more often. We need more places like this!“

“On average we get take out from Sula Wok once per week. We love the food and the vibe of the place. (Sula and her gang are also very nice to deal with). I really like the traditional Pad Thai. Recently, Sula asked that I try a slightly new version of the dish (apparently less fishy). Sula asked that I let her know if I liked it or not. While I thought the taste was a little different (maybe not as spicy or “fishy”), I still loved it and will be ordering it again.“

“First time visitor on March 23, to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The restaurant was happily booked up when I tried to make a reservation, so I was only able to secure a table at 5:15pm. I left a little note asking them to keep us in mind if there was a cancellation for a later spot, and they contacted me by email, text, and phone when a later table became available for 6:15pm. Very responsive and friendly staff. Our time at Soif was marvellous. The staff were friendly and extremely professional. Service was relaxed yet very polished. Our server was knowledgeable about the wine and took great care to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. We had a flight of wine to start, followed by a beautiful bottle of white, and a flight of bubbles to end our evening. We shared a half cheese/half charcuterie platter that came with a mountain of crispy and delicious crostini, the latter being refilled without having to ask. Such a small but lovely touch. We also shared roasted Brussels sprouts, frites and aioli, a bison tartare, and grilled radicchio, that were all delicious. They surprised my friend with a little dessert wine and candle to acknowledge her birthday, which was so kind and thoughtful. I have not a single critique. The team here works like a well-oiled machine. No one seemed frantic or rushed. It was a lovely evening. I (we) will definitely be back. Santé!“

“Arguable the best pizza I've ever eaten. So good I had to let the owner know. I've tried alot in my lifetime and nothing compared to this spot, its in a bracket of its own.

I tried to buy a coffee cup as a reminder of the spot, I know a coffee cup from a pizza joint, but it was a cool cup. But Eric (the owner) or maybe co-owner, gave me one for free.

As a maritimer visiting ottawa on a work trip, I've heard of the spot and don't get me wrong. I understand people have their views on pizza, but this was light, crust was crispy, and it sit well when picking up a slice.

I tried the deluxe I believe, I wanted to stay on the safe side for a first timer, but I'll definitely be trying more if or when I get the chance to go back.

“I have been going to Pho Bac for a very long time. I honestly haven't tried much of their menu because the pho is my favourite in the city. This is a small family that runs the restaurant which shows, as the quality of food is high & consistent.“

Tables cleared under 5 minutes. Called for help only when needed. Handled both take-out and dine in without breaking pace. Knows how to hold plates and deliver confidently. “We received a gift card from a family member for $100 USD as a Christmas Present and were excited about enjoying a meal at this restaurant. The gift card was purchased directly from Joey's, not a 3rd party. We went and everything initially about the restaurant was very enjoyable. The food was very good, the service was attentive and we enjoyed our experience until the cheque arrived. When we we presented the gift card (electronically) our server went to speak with a ⁶manager and then returned to inform us that the $100 USD would be honoured in Canadian dollars. $100 USD is worth $144.50 Canadian dollars according to google when checked today. We paid the bill and tipped the service team 22% and left after effectively having $44.50 taken from us and our family member in what felt like to us, theft by conversion. The manager in question did not come to follow up after our expressing our disappointment JOEY's is already a very expensive restaurant. Further, the gift card information indicates that Joey's has US based restaurants. I'm quite sure that Canadian dollar gift cards are not accepted at par in the US. This ruined for us, what was otherwise a positive experience, through what felt like to us, an act of corporate greed and impersonal profiteering. After this experience we will not be back and sadly, I cannot recommend JOEY's as a place for anyone else to dine at. Any company that sells a gift card directly and then fails to deliver full value is patently dishonest, in my opinion.“

“Huong is so kind and clearly holds so much pride in the food here. :^) And for good reason; the bun bo hue had amazing depth of flavor in the broth and very lemongrassy which was so addictive!! + I could tell that they take care to clean and skim the pork hock thoroughly to get rid of the funk. Their homemade pork sausage was also so delicious. Next time I gotta try pho bun hue!! I meant to take pictures but when I sipped the soup I forgot LOL.“

“This place is truly one of a kind—unforgettable, in the best way. As visitors from out of town, we immediately wished we had somewhere like this back home, especially one that opens this early. Their breakfast, brunch, and lunch portions are just right: enough to keep you full and energized without feeling heavy.

The standout for me was the café au lait—milk coffee, or Milchkaffee in German. Paired with their breakfast options—bacon, cheese, eggs, or any of their fresh sandwiches—it was perfect. We even grabbed a bag of day-old scones (half a dozen) for the three of us on the way out, which was half price and still delicious.

The whole experience was exquisite. If you’re in the area, this place is absolutely worth a visit. We only wish something like this existed in Calgary, Alberta.

And one more thing: they sell farm-fresh jams in jars, and they are every bit as divine as the place itself.“

“This family run restaurant is a hidden gem. I have tried many Pad Thais and this restaurant has the best Pad Thai I have ever had. This restaurant is most accommodating in helping my son, who has gluten and soy sensitivities, find things he can eat. “Went early on a Saturday--no wait, hostess was very sweet and attentive. Food arrived quickly, absolutely delicious! We shared an order of takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and chashu don. The okonomiyaki is a specialty item, and absolutely worth it! The store itself is lavishly decorated with posters and toys, many of which are for sale. They also run a seasonal Gachapon--you earn plays based on your bill total. Very fun, a wonderful place to gather with friends.

“Great vermicelli pork and spring roll bowl! You can choose how many toppings you want, and the price is quite good. Their vietnamese coffee with condensed milk is delicious too. I do have to say that my partner got double the amount of spring roll for no apparent reason though, but nevertheless, definitely try it on a warm summer day!“
