“Whenever I visit my mother in Côte Saint-Luc, I stop by Maxies to buy a few containers of chicken soup or matzo soup, and sometimes bread or other baked goods. I really appreciate how hard-working the older gentleman (and I presume owner) is behind the counter. He's welcoming and friendly. I'm always happy to support this local business.“

“Great bagels, kosher, can go toe to toe with the best in the city. Very small storefront that is largely outside now since COVID, which is understandable. Their other baked goods are equally delicious. Prices no better or worse than the competition. Worth the visit.“

“Marvellous Mmmuffins... I remember them well since I frequently bought various flavours in the 80's and 90's when working in Ottawa's Rideau Centre. They were located on the first floor, opposite the original Food Court. The manager was so very personable with a very friendly female staff. The delicious muffins were high in calories, yet the best while still unsurpassed. How very nice that Montréal still has one!“

“Absolutely delicious. I love walking over here on my lunch break when I need a boost of caffeine (they make oat milk lattes!), or something sweet. Quite honestly, I’m less of a doughnut person, and more of a traditional pastry person. I love their chocolatines, and of course, the challah! The challah is always a hit on Shabbat. I even asked the owner if he could make challah buns I could take to my family for their Christmas dinner. Everyone was drooling. Thank you!“

“I bought the brownie cheesecake, I bought it at Mamie Clafoutis in Marche 440 laval. The cake was very good, but my house might have been very warm, the cake was more like a soft serve ice cream, instead of cheesecake consistency. So did not stay together when I cut it. The cake was eaten anyway, after I put it back in the freezer, it stayed together very well, and was delicious. The owner offered me another cake on them. Seeing how much the owner cared about her product and offered me a cake on the house, I changed my star rating overall. It's nice to have the owner contact you and try and rectify the problem. I do not go to Laval often, I did not write the review in hopes of getting a free cake. I will continue to buy her products, as I have often in the past. Everything that was bought there was very good.“

“Very good latte, the notes are potent and you can choose light or dark roast espresso. Scones are nice and crunchy. The latte does get a bit cold quickly which is fine for me cause I like to drink it fast and not too hot, but would have liked a heads up cause I wouldn’t have waited to drink it :)“

It's been a while since I entered a bakery that smelled so sweet. Suddenly, I was the 5-year-old little girl inside my godmother's kitchen who used to bake amazing cakes, eagerly waiting to snack on a small piece, thinking no one would notice my little fingerprints in the frosting. Everything tasted authentic and absolutely amazing. Not too sweet, not too sour, with no single ingredient overpowering the others. It was just right. I highly recommend anyone with a sweet tooth to indulge themselves and try their pastries.I have tasted all the miniature versions of their cakes, and there is not a word good enough to describe the intensity of delight I encountered while eating them. “Charming little café-bakery-pastry shop. The breads are creamy and tasty. The croissants are just as light while remaining light. You have to try the raspberry croissants - but they go very quickly in the morning, you have to be quick.Update >> My partner and I discovered that the breads produced here are significantly better than those produced by other bakeries. I bought a Camus loaf elsewhere and from the first bite, my partner asked me: "You didn't buy it at the bakery around the corner, did you?"...So warning: if you get used to the quality of the products of this bakery, well... “Rated as the second best place to get croissants, this place did not disappoint! The space was a little small, but it was filled with pastries and coffee. One thing I noticed was that their chocolatines and croissants had many layers, a testament to its quality. I sat at the high bar feeling really cozy, with my chocolatine and mochachinno. “I make it a point to visit this Jewish bakery every time I'm in Montreal - and you must try it. It's a must-stop for me, even if I have to circle the block 5 times to find a parking spot, it's worth it. Everything they offer is incredibly delicious, and I always make an effort to try out different items on each visit. “I get my bread at Ecodep on Laurier. Having an irritable colon, eating sourdough bread is preferable. He is one of the rare bakers to make bread only with sourdough. The only downside is that the spelled loaf is not always available. Kamut bread is quite digestible on the other hand.“

Being from Ukrainian descent, I’ve eaten a fair amount of borscht, however, I’ve never tried a version with what seemed like pickled beets. It was phenomenal with the pickled beets - Hof’s borscht is thick and has a tinge of vinegar and was served with sour cream on top (so they know what they’re doing). Will be back for the borscht for sure.We also tried the cheese danish which was awesome, the homemade iced tea (which my husband describes as tasting like jelly beans), and bought a loaf of challah to bring home (which also paired well with the soup!).The coffee was unfortunately underwhelming for me, a bit too acidic for my personal preference.The interior of the space is a bit industrial yet cozy, it was nice to pass some time on a rainy day with a coffee and soup. Will absolutely be back.“
