“I stopped by Cote Cafe for a quick coffee while exploring the neighborhood and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it feels like a genuine local spot rather than a generic chain. The staff were friendly and efficient, getting my order out quickly even though it was quite busy. It is a great place to sit down with a book for an hour or catch up on some emails. I will definitely be coming back when I am in this part of town again.“

“was buying starbucks' true north blonde roast for awhile. my place of work brews the veranda blend where i got introduced to light roast coffee. had no idea blonde roast even existed to be honest. noticed 49th parallel had a light roast variety of their own. bought a bag of epic espresso just to sample it but i keep coming back for more. excellent coffee and my new favorite ! ☕“

“Stopped in here last Saturday afternoon after wandering around the Plateau and I'm so glad I did. The cortado was honestly one of the best I've had, and the staff were super friendly even though it was pretty busy. As someone visiting from Ontario, I wasn't expecting such a cozy, laid-back vibe - it felt like a neighbourhood spot that locals actually love. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Montreal.“

“I walked into Saint JJH & Café today and felt instantly at home — it’s genuinely one of the warmest, coziest family-run spots in Verdun. The retro, antique-inspired decor — soft lighting, plush seating, and vintage touches — makes the café feel like a dear friend’s living room. I treated myself to their baked goods, and oh my — the apple pie was nothing short of heavenly, with a perfectly balanced sweetness and a tender, flaky crust. The banana cake was moist, fragrant, and had that perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture that serious cake lovers dream of. I paired them with an oat-milk latte, and it was so smooth and comforting — just the right warmth, the right froth, and just enough subtle sweetness. Truly felt like the perfect cozy pick-me-up. But what made the visit extra special was getting to chat with the owners, the husband-and-wife team, and especially Yanna. She welcomed me like a long-lost friend — genuine warmth, passion for her café, and so much heart. It felt like more than just a business, it’s a real community hub. If you’re looking for a place where the coffee is excellent, the pastries feel made with love, and the vibe is homey and welcoming — Saint JJH & Café is a must-visit. “The food was so good. I got to try their lentil soup with bread. As desserts, I got the Matcha-gato with saffron ice cream. Surprisingly, it blends well with the matcha. To describe it, the matcha is more herbal and milky from the saffron ice cream… it’s a unique combination, but I actually like how the matcha-gato is made :) For the drinks, I got to try their Galaxy Rose and their Hot Pistachio drinks. For the Galaxy Rose, it’s a sweet, yet herbal taste. It has a hint of orange, marshmallow-y flavor, along with the butterfly pea tea herbs and saffron. That’s a 10/10 for me.
For the Hot Pistachio, it’s very nutty and milky that actually taste like an actual roasted pistachio compared to other cafes I’ve tried where it has a medicinal/artificial taste. With that being said, this is probably my fav cafe place to get a Pistachio drink if you guys like Pistachio. This is also a 10/10 for me

The service is very good. We were able to get a refill for the bread for our lentil soup, we also got free water and Ali, the staff, welcomed us with warmth. I’m definitely going there again !

The atmosphere is nice. The place is filled with Persian and Iranian decor and a pretty chill spot to study.

“I have been looking for my new favorite cafe place. I found it today. The vibe the owners have is contagious, you feel excited to try new pastries. I picked the big chocolate chip cookie, it was sooo good, almost like half baked cookie dough. I also tried the almond cookie so delicious with a hint of lemon 🍋. “We ordered cortado with oat milk. The espresso was beautiful. The cortado was served in a gorgeous clay cup. The soundscape included music playing with a sprawled out sofa seating space on one side and long bench available in the other end of the room. Overall, the cafe with its focus on sound system and equipment at first glance seems too unassuming for a cafe space. It turned out to be a great Saturday find.“

“There is a huge selection of freshly roasted coffee from various roasters in the region. From what I understand, they rent the facility to do their roasting, and then sell their beans here, as well as at their cafes. Naturally, the place smells amazing! I had an espresso and an Americano to go. Both were excellent. The biscuits/scones are the best I’ve had in a long time…especially the plain ones with fresh cream and jam. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about all their products. The location is close to a path along the canal…a perfect stop during a bike ride or walk. Looking forward to my next visit!“

“The food is always good. They have lots of vegan options and the coffee is one of the best around. Nice atmosphere and wonderful service. Just ask what is vegan as some items contain dairy and they add meat into their menu. This restaurant is no longer vegetarian but there is something for everyone there. “I got an iced matcha and breakfast sandwich. Breakfast sandwich was great for 10$. They didn’t cheap out in on the bacon and eggs and it wasn’t dry at all. Bread was made in house too which was nice. Now for the matcha, it wasn’t impressive it definitely wasn’t quality, it was grey almost. Though It’s difficult for shops to nail. You can most definitely find better or even good matcha for the same price point (~5$). Atmosphere was cute too (& they offer a student discount).“
