“Don't let the huge line up deter you. It does move fast, even though it was only 1 guy working when I visited. He was friendly and tried to chat with each customer even though he was doing everything by himself (from making drinks to clearing tables) There are a few tables inside but it is a small and cozy place. “Elie found this café and suggested that we go and discover it together. To set up is a little bit weird, you order from the main cash. They place your order you find a seat and they serve it to you. There’s nothing weird about it. It’s just confusing when you get in because they don’t necessarily explain it to you. we’ve seen other places give a kind of number that you place on your table to identify one to the person that they know what to expect and two for the server to bring the food to the right table.We ordered a couple of sandwiches and a Caprese salad we decided to go with the large size which in all honesty was a little bit too big . There was cheese and tomatoes, which is great, however, way too much balsamic and not enough basil. For people who have travelled around and have eaten various types of Caprese salads (not that we’re being snobby) but this was not one of the better ones sadly.The sandwich was OK, the bread was really good. However, we didn’t really care much for the chopped up lettuce inside and the lack of certain toppings like bacon for instance . There were just a few strips, barely enough to cover the bread area. The fries, however, came in the gigantic basket which we were unable to finish.It was OK to visit. The decor inside is nice. a nice place to visit if you’re looking for a quick breakfast in a downtown area of Montreal.“

“Mr. DeMassi was a sincere, gregarious, and convivial host who made me feel like an old friend, despite this being my first visit to his cafe. I had a delicious soup for lunch, and was generously offered a samosa as well as a sample of spiced flat-bread - much more than I expected, and very kind. The cafe is the activity centre of the local environment, and has the very unique and encouraging quality of operating part time on an honour-code. I enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning to try the coffee!“
