“I was excited to go to Joe Beef with my son, since we both had been hearing great things about the place for years. Upon entry, we were warmly greeted by several of the staff as we walked through the restaurant to our bar seat. I always try to sit at the bar since you can chat with the staff, as they cook or prepare drinks. The service was outgoing and helpful, and the atmosphere was charming and cozy. We started with the escargot, which were great, but the butternut squash soup was absolutely spectacular, and by far the best thing of the entire meal. After that, we had the duck, and the lobster pasta, which came highly recommended. The duck dish was succulent, apparently “free range” which gave it a bit of a gamey taste, and it came with a gorgeous savoury sauce which included delicious duck hearts. Unfortunately, the lobster claw, (still in its shell), that came with the pasta was a little off, not exactly fresh, but the other parts of the lobster were great. We finished off with the “Profiteroles Poire & Chocolat”, an ice cream, pear, cookie and chocolate dessert. As I understand it, the ice cream was homemade which helped make it a wonderful dessert. All in all, we had a great time, but I have to say that the food was good, but not the kind of “blow your mind amazing” that I hope for from a high-end restaurant.“

“My wife and I had a fantastic evening here on Friday. It has a warm atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we would have normally. The food was exquisite, and a good value for the quality provided. The wine list was extensive, featuring wines from several French regions, as well as some from Italy, Spain, US, and Canada. The servers were attentive, speaking French and English, and there was a sommelier on staff to help with the wine. The plates weren’t overly large, but we were quite filled after three courses, wine, and an aperitif. We are definitely coming back the next time we’re in town.“

“Busy and lively cafe with a good atmosphere in Old Montreal. I ordered an americano which was tasty; more of a traditional Italian espresso blend. For food I ordered the Lac Brome which was decent but not anything spectacular. I found that it lacked a bit of flavour. The server was very professional and friendly! “One of my favorite hotels ever!! Right in the heart of old Montreal, and a short walk to everything that Old Montreal has to offer. It sits on a beautiful cobblestone street, and is in an old, historic building. The rooms were beautiful, with windows that open to let in some great fresh air. I loved their little breakfast, which consisted of different breads each day, spread, cheese, and some cold pressed local juice. Just a top notch experience, and affordable too!“

On the occasion of Montréal à table 2024 the server suggests sharing the dishes we agree except that the portions are small to share but correct if not sharing difficult to have complete/perfect bites. Tasty sea urchin pannacota but the beetroot starter was too vinegary. Leg of deer not tender. Tasty chocolate mousse. Canelés as well as small choux pastry offered with the compliments of the house. The accompaniment of the correct wines makes the Chablis of Malandes unforgettable. My last visit more than 10 years ago, the next time there is no rush“

“My experience at Maison Boulud was incredible. My friend and I were visiting Montreal and wanted a Michelin-quality dinner. MB had no reservations but they were kind enough to seat us at the bar. I actually loved sitting at the bar because the bartender and the sommelier were both so fun and passionate about their work. Every course was phenomenal and the wine pairings elevated the experience. Toward the end, I was feeling so full, but the pre-dessert course hacked my digestive system and made me feel not full almost immediately. It was a really cool trick. “The service in general was good. We didn't wait too long between our dishes, however we had to ask for the bread and butter. We tested the Montreal menu at the table. The plates were tasty but the portions were small. The menu proposed for Montréal à table did not include dessert. Although it could be added, it would have been a nice addition to incorporate it directly.“

Came here with a former classmate of mine. And I was a former student. We came here at 11:30 at Lunch time.

Pros:
1) The menus here vary in terms of which classes are being taught. It could be C.M. Or Professional Cooking that is doing the preparation and presentation of the dish.

2) The food that day was good and cooked to perfection no complaints or no return meals.

3) It’s a nice atmosphere here and the students I know are doing a good job and being a former student here was amazing to see some of my colleagues again.

Cons:
1) Not opened everyday.

2) Service depends on the students and class availability and management.

3) Super difficult to get a reservation as times and staff and classes may vary. Online does not help so does calling the phone. I do hope that reservation will be easier to make and that they fix the online booking as well for future services.

4) It’s pricey and little expensive but it’s the experience and helping out students that counts.

Conclusion:
I will be back here again to see my “family” and the good food and atmosphere being served by future chefs and students helping others is what really matters to me regardless of pricing or Food.

This place is good to eat here and it’s decent.

This school needs to be better and deserves to be better for future.

“The food was Excellent! Much better than expected. The place was a bit loud and there were a lot of kids but that can be attributed to the time of year. The prices were also very good, low for the quality of the food. Lots of space between the tables also meant you had privacy for conversations, if you could be heard above the children. On a different night it would have been quite romantic. The only downside was the service which was indifferent. Drink refills were non-existent and if you wanted something you had to get up from your table and go find a staffer. I believe we went a full 20 minutes without seeing any staff in the dining room. The diners were all looking around, confused. I believe that this night the staff were focused on a large group in a separate room but that doesn't change the fact that we all are paying customers and expect the same service. With even a modicum of service this would have been a five star review. The food was just that good.“
