“We just ordered an all-dressed pizza, and we were impressed! It’s not a fancy, gourmet pizza—it’s a really good, classic, satisfying deli-style pizza, exactly what we were looking for.

The sauce was perfect—not too acidic—the amount of cheese was just right, and all the ingredients tasted fresh. Everything came together perfectly, and you could tell it was made with care.

The only disappointment was the French fries. I was hoping they would be made with fresh potatoes rather than the frozen, cardboard-like kind. I understand that many people enjoy those fries, but personally, they’re not really to my taste. I’ll probably skip the poutine next time, but I’m looking forward to trying the sub and perhaps, eventually, a deli-style lasagna.

We recently moved into the area, so we’re still discovering the local restaurants and eateries. After trying this pizza, we can already say this will be our new go-to pizza place!

We also had the pleasure of meeting John, who we believe is the owner. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.

We were really looking forward to trying his pizza, and it definitely did not disappoint. We’ll be back for sure! 🍕“

“I somehow managed to be given the best seat in the house: next to the kitchen, and right next to the chef, Josh Crowe. The experience of sitting at the bar allowed me to better appreciate the inner workings of this 30-year old establishment. The staff were as kind and supportive of each other, as they were to the guests, who filled the restaurant, bar, and terrace on this warm May evening. I observed Chef Josh and co-owner Barbara Irwin continuously interacting with each staff member. I had never witnessed such a high level of communication, where information flowed seamlessly from the front of the restaurant to the kitchen and vice versa. My meal began with a great cocktail and was followed by a glass of Spanish red, which paired very well with the best pork chop that I have ever had. The 3-inch thick chop was perfectly cooked and the complex flavours of the dish melted together harmoniously. It has been a few years since my last meal there, but I will be back shortly to enjoy the social sidewalk terrace, which offers the best in NDG people watching. You may decide to go to the Tavern for the food, cocktails, and wine list, but you will also be treated to the culture that Barbara & Josh have established over the past decade. They have created something special and seem fully committed to maintaining the same high level of culinary experience and appreciation for their patrons. My overall impression of the Monkland Tavern is one highlighting a collaborative team approach, effective two-way communication, a concentrated attention to every detail of the dining experience, professional courtesy, and mutual respect. “It's much more of a humanitarian aid restaurant. The meals are all simply delicious and at very affordable prices. As a CEGEP student nearby, I go there every day. If you are looking for a place with an à la carte menu, a fancy place or a restaurant to watch a football match you are not in the right place.

You can choose what to put in your burger like in Subway, and no matter what you choose it’s always good.
They stay open late and the employees are cool. The first time I went, I saw an employee leave her counter to bring water to a customer who had a spicy ghost pepper burger. So nice!“

“We went for Mother's Day brunch. It was ok however everything from meal items to coffee were lukewarm. Didn't think it was worth the price at all, even with the premium of this being an in terminal hotel restaurant. If I had to base going back on this one and only experience, I would not.“

We mainly go there for the spag dinners at $2 or $3 which are delicious, or for the smoked meat which is also delicious but not on mega sale (quite affordable price).The windows are very smoky, from the outside it doesn't make you want to enter it, but once inside you can see that it's well decorated and bright. Video poker machines are a bit weird but they are set back so it doesn't bother you.“

And don't make mistakes, the lady cashier is friendly, but somehow the atmosphere is not inviting: just in-eat-out!Thus is not specific to this location, but to the chain as a whole.And, as every where these days after pandemic, I find it dxcesively expensive. “I went to the Napa Lounge as I got in quite late and it seemed to be the easiest option to eat at. When I got my order, the food here was surprisingly delicious. I enjoyed every bite of my meal. The only complaint I have is that the food is quite expensive and teeters on not being worth what you pay. However, I would definitely come back here.

If you decide to come here, make it during hours that are less busy, otherwise you might just decide to go somewhere else due to the parking situation.
