“Best bartender ever I was traveling alone through Montreal and was recommended this place. I sat at the bar and had one of the best dinners of my life. I’m only 29 so my palette may not be all there yet but this dinner was off the hook. Mac n cheese was divine to put it simply. Filet mignon went crazy with the red wine sauce. Do yourself a favor and get the cheesy whipped potatoes with the steak. Down a bottle of cab throughout the meal. Better than any other restaurant in Montreal.“

“We drive up from central Vermont to eat at Joe Beef - it's a 3+ hour drive and worth every minute in the car. Oysters and escargot are off the hook every time and the service - OMG chef's kiss. Julien is the premiere server - patient, makes incredible suggestions, knows the menu and wine list like the back of his hand and even elaborates on where food is sourced. “My wife and I had a fantastic evening here on Friday. It has a warm atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we would have normally. The food was exquisite, and a good value for the quality provided. The wine list was extensive, featuring wines from several French regions, as well as some from Italy, Spain, US, and Canada. The servers were attentive, speaking French and English, and there was a sommelier on staff to help with the wine. The plates weren’t overly large, but we were quite filled after three courses, wine, and an aperitif. We are definitely coming back the next time we’re in town.“

“Busy and lively cafe with a good atmosphere in Old Montreal. I ordered an americano which was tasty; more of a traditional Italian espresso blend. For food I ordered the Lac Brome which was decent but not anything spectacular. I found that it lacked a bit of flavour. The server was very professional and friendly! I would come back here but to try another item off of the menu.“

On the occasion of Montréal à table 2024 the server suggests sharing the dishes we agree except that the portions are small to share but correct if not sharing difficult to have complete/perfect bites. Tasty sea urchin pannacota but the beetroot starter was too vinegary. Leg of deer not tender. Tasty chocolate mousse. Canelés as well as small choux pastry offered with the compliments of the house. The accompaniment of the correct wines makes the Chablis of Malandes unforgettable. My last visit more than 10 years ago, the next time there is no rush“

“One of my favorite hotels ever!! Right in the heart of old Montreal, and a short walk to everything that Old Montreal has to offer. It sits on a beautiful cobblestone street, and is in an old, historic building. The rooms were beautiful, with windows that open to let in some great fresh air. I loved their little breakfast, which consisted of different breads each day, spread, cheese, and some cold pressed local juice. Just a top notch experience, and affordable too!“

“The service in general was good. We didn't wait too long between our dishes, however we had to ask for the bread and butter. We tested the Montreal menu at the table. The plates were tasty but the portions were small. The menu proposed for Montréal à table did not include dessert. Although it could be added, it would have been a nice addition to incorporate it directly.“

“I had the 5 services vegan menu for 125$. It was well thought, not just taking off the meat to have a "vegan menu". “The food was Excellent! Much better than expected. The place was a bit loud and there were a lot of kids but that can be attributed to the time of year. The prices were also very good, low for the quality of the food. Lots of space between the tables also meant you had privacy for conversations, if you could be heard above the children. On a different night it would have been quite romantic. The only downside was the service which was indifferent. Drink refills were non-existent and if you wanted something you had to get up from your table and go find a staffer. I believe we went a full 20 minutes without seeing any staff in the dining room. The diners were all looking around, confused. I believe that this night the staff were focused on a large group in a separate room but that doesn't change the fact that we all are paying customers and expect the same service. With even a modicum of service this would have been a five star review. The food was just that good.“

The only downside is they don't have a regular schedule.“
