“I Am a calamari person. I tried Calamari everywhere a restaurant sells it. Take to much time to name them all. I am 64 and had calamari since the age of 9. A lot of dishes that I have tried , The Calamari was like eating rubber bands. Was good and got used to that. Had a friend from New York with me , We seen this restaurant and decided to stop in. And try the Calamari.... WAS THE BEST I EVER HAD.... Will be back for more. It was like the Calamari melted in my mouth !!! 1st time there. Won't be my last....“

“First time in. Monday night special is quite the deal! Food tasted excellent and portions are large. I was able to take home plenty of food and my unfinished bottle of wine. We did feel a bit rushed. Not only to place our order but appetizers and salads were served at the same time to our small table. We were asked multiple times if we were done with courses when we had forks in our hands. Because the food was delicious and very well prepared we’ll give it another try and hope for a better service experience.“

“Thanks for making my vigil a totally disaster! I spent $177.00 on take out consisting of eel,smelts,stuffed squid and cold calamari salad. The smelts were “burned”, the stuffed squid was tough and once again way overly seasoned and again not eatable. The eel had no taste. I have been a customer there on many occasions (special ones too. ) , however you not only lost a client but I will make sure my other professionals, many were here, not ever rely on a good meal at the Old Canteen. Consider a better chef!“

The oil & vinegar dressing was noticeably delicious with its own unique flavor. The meats and cheese literally went from the slicer to the sandwich. I had a "small" which is equivalent to a large elsewhere. VERY reasonable prices! This was the first time here of MANY more times to come in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“
