“Went with my son last week for the first time and had the muscles and chicken wings, both of which were incredible. We brought home the mac and cheese, dumplings and seasonal bread pudding. Everything was fantastic. we agreed it is the best restaurant around. I went again tonight with my husband. We had the friend oyster appetizer special and filet, both of which were incredible. Debbie was our waitress, and she was absolutely fantastic. So friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!“

“My fiancé and I stopped here on a Friday night for the first time. We had tried a handful of other bars in Newport that were all packed but when we walked into Bar 12 it was almost empty. I ordered the Secret Garden cocktail and was so impressed with the presentation! It tasted as good as it looked too! I stopped by again this past Friday with four of my friends and tried the lemon meringue drink this time. It was amazing- super sweet and tasted just like a lemon bar! The prices are really reasonable for the quality of the cocktails and the location. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night or small groups, the bathroom was super clean, and overall I’m just really shocked it wasn’t more crowded both times I went!“

“Today we made a pilgrimage to Basil Yu’s restaurant, Yagi Noodles. My son happened to see that Basil had become a successful restaurateur while he was watching one of Guy Fieri’s shows. We had become acquainted with Basil when we were all involved with a Boy Scout Troop in Manchester NH. We were disappointed to discover that Basil wasn’t at the restaurant, however we got over it when we found out it was due to a commitment to a fundraiser for the James Beard Foundation. Basil, You weren’t there, but your food is delicious. You get the Merit Badge! You weren’t there, but your staff is spectacular! You get the Merit Badge! We wish you continued success! “My brother, Walter, who is a chef always said just try it the way the chef intended. Our chef choice tasting menu was incredible tonight. We loved the pork ragu and our favorite was the fluke. Something my husband and I typically would not order proved to be our favorite dish. Giusto is a culinary experience not to miss. Kyle, Kevin, and Chef Will have created a masterpiece. “It was my first experience at Tong Ta today and the food was outstanding. I have eaten at Thai restaurants all over the United States including some of my favorites in NYC, Houston, San Jose, Boston, and TONG TA is among the best I’ve had and it’s local!. The Beef and basil sauce (Gra Pao) was fantastic, the beef was tender and flavorful, the veggies were perfectly cooked and the sauce was perfectly seasoned. The chicken satay was excellent as well. The service was fast and friendly and I’d recommend this place to anyone.“

One evening a year or two before Covid, about halfway through a five-hour road trip, we stopped in for an early dinner. Things were quiet and we had a chance to chat with Chef Branden Read's mom, who shared the story of how he ended up opening the establishment. To get the whole story, you'll have to stop by at a quiet time and hopefully catch him to hear it first hand, but you should be ready for disappointment, for there aren't that many quiet times these days.

Having been eating here since 2010, I can speak with the perspective of long experience when I say that the food has been consistently excellent -- creative, frequently updated and well-executed. The Baby Back Ribs (a menu staple, thank goodness) are simply superb, just falling off the bone. The cabbages in the slaw and the cucumbers served on top are home pickled, light on the vinegar and delicately sweet. The bread pudding dessert is phenomenal, but with generous portions, perhaps get a helping to go? It's still fantastic the next day, as are the left-over ribs you'll surely be taking home with you.

A hallmark of a good place is staff longevity. Several of the servers have been there at least as long as I've been visiting,

“From the minute you walk in you are greeted with smiles and made to feel like an old friend. The food is fantastic with healthy portions, made fresh and with lots of thought and care. As I understand it, Bravo is under new management by Ryan and Ryan and they are very involved, attentive and eager to please. Connected to Theater by the Sea, we went to dinner before all four shows this season and it was wonderful each time! The only negative thing I can say is that they are only open when the Theater is open… but I hear they are working on that!!!! A great find!“

Drinks are reasonable and delicious. Our server PATRICK WAS AMAZING. They explain specials and drinks. Most attentive and all foods were perfectly presented. Wanna another drink, ask and within 2 minutes it’s there. We had wild mushrooms and salmon that were incredible as appetizers. Caesar salad was fresh and lettuce crisp. Scallops special had my wife shaking her head. My seafood linguine was overflowing with fresh seafood. The dessert of “Snowball from Hell” can be shared. Our 54th anniversary was unreal.
