“I’ve always loved Blackie’s as a restaurant, but hosting my husband’s surprise 60th birthday party there made me appreciate it even more. Everything about the event was absolutely wonderful. The private room was beautiful and decorated so nicely, creating the perfect atmosphere for such a special celebration. It was the perfect mingling space where everyone could comfortably move around, socialize, and enjoy the party together. The food was delicious with beautiful presentation, and there was more than enough for everyone. Our guests kept commenting on how great everything was. The staff was attentive, professional, and helped make the entire event feel seamless and stress free. I highly recommend Blackie’s not only for dinner, but also for special events and celebrations. It was truly a memorable experience for our family and friends. A special thank you to Jeanine for all of her help in making the evening so perfect and memorable.“

“Such a great gluten-free bakery! I tried the carrot cake , the chocolate brownie, and a chocolate cream cake, yes I'm a pig 😆, and all were absolutely delicious. The carrot cake was so moist and everything flavorful. You’d never know they were gluten-free. I highly recommend this bakery!!“

“We had a great dinner there just before the Waterfires. I am a big fan of the Mongolian Beef, and my daughter traditionally gets the lo mein. Our server, Suelly, was excellent. She was super friendly, and helped to make sure the ingredients wouldn't interfere with food restrictions. We also had fun talking with her about music, concerts and other live performances. It's a great place to get good food and watch the people passing by outside in downtown Providence.“

“Had A&J twice now from the Wicked Gluten Free Festival in CT and I'm in love. At the event you get to sample products and they're all delicious. Don't sleep on the Eclaires they're SO GOOD. I always make sure to buy extra. Planning a RI trip soon! 🤗“

“They took away the “sourdough stick” which was their sourdough baguette named in a way that made it hard to tell what it was. I myself accidentally got a regular French baguette on multiple occasions when I actually wanted a sourdough one because I consider it a baguette. I think this is why it was selling less.

A bunch of other unique items like the walnut raisin loaf and pan de mie were also removed while nothing new was added. As others have said the place can feel a bit rote and it’s not mindblowingly amazing but it is the best in the area and solid for what it is. That being said, I have fewer reasons to go there now. Too bad.

I worked at a successful Boulangerie in a different city and they had a different approach. I can’t help but think if this place brought in the croissants and pastries from the one I worked at it would be even more popular and loved.

Edit: I can’t in good conscience give this place 3 stars because my complaints come from a place of love. So there you go have an extra star. Total rating 4 out of 7 stars“

“Went to a flag football event with my son and they were there with a food truck. I had a coffee and ordered a chocolate chip cookie for myself. The first thing I noticed that it was mostly chocolate chips, hardly cookie. My kinda cookie. I decided to be nice and bring the cookie home to Maine to my five year old. Me and my two boys shared the cookie after dinner and boy was I mad that I didn’t buy 25 more. That was the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had in my life. I will be placing an order for shipping here in the next couple days. Gonna try the m&m but def getting more of those cookies. Thank you!!!!!“
