“Don’t be fooled by appearances!! This place is a major gem! I enjoy every bite when I come, they have a lot of meat-free options, and even offer complimentary miso. Their prices are also extremely fair for the quality of food you receive.“
“The best Japanese & sushi in Columbia! The staff is so friendly and always greets when you come in.All of the rolls are excellent, the spicy udon noodles are on delicious and the boats are perfect for groups. My go to is the spicy seafood udon and a candy roll. The habanero roll is great too. All of the boxes are delicious, even the Japanese fried chicken will satisfy your palate.Check this place out!!“
“The food was AMAZING! But our server Melissa was by far the best part of the evening. She was so attentive and friendly! She truly went above and beyond. She even gave us a to-go menu where she highlighted some yummy sushi options to try next time. 10/10 service, we couldn’t thank her enough! We will definitely be back.“
“Celebrated our 1st year anniversary and it was a lovely experience. Calvin and Veronica made sure we had a good time here. We set a reservation and anticipated the sushi chef per the pictures to be there, but we were informed due to COVID, he was required to retire. It appeared that there were college students rolling sushi instead. However, the sushi was rolled well and LOVED that the nigiri included the little dab of wasabi under the fish, which is the correct way to roll sushi. Another fact that made me really happy to hear is they cut and prepare the fish in house, that's cool! Calvin brought out this white soy sauce for the sushi and that paired so well! My only complaint was they do not sell beer or liquor at this time as they were in the process of updating their license. Green tea is just fine though. If you want ACTUAL authentic Japanese sushi cuisine, you have to come here!!“
“We had lunch for a birthday celebration. It was well worth the trip. The atmosphere was quaint and the service was good. The food presentation was was great. I had the red curry with chicken (4). It deserves a chef's kiss. I highly recommend and will definitely go back.“
“Quality Over Quantity: A Closer Look at Magnolia Buffet in Columbia, SCMagnolia Buffet, located on Two Notch Road in Columbia, SC, emerges as a unique culinary gem in the realm of Chinese cuisine, albeit with a touch of limitation. While the establishment doesn’t boast the vast array of options found in larger buffets, it distinguishes itself with an unwavering commitment to quality. As patrons step into the inviting ambiance of Magnolia Buffet, they might initially notice the smaller selection size compared to other establishments. However, this perceived drawback is quickly overshadowed by the impeccable quality and authentic flavors of each offered dish. From the meticulously prepared Peking Duck to the vibrant and spicy Kung Pao Chicken, each menu item showcases a deep respect for traditional Chinese culinary arts, crafted from fresh, high-quality ingredients. The ambiance of the buffet complements the dining experience, providing a cozy and welcoming environment suitable for various occasions. Coupled with the attentive and friendly service, a meal at Magnolia Buffet is both pleasant and memorable. However, it is this smaller selection that holds me back from awarding a full five-star rating. While the quality of the food is beyond reproach, the limited variety may leave some diners wishing for more options to explore. This aspect, albeit minor in the context of the overall experience, is notable for those who value extensive choices alongside quality. In summary, Magnolia Buffet stands out for its high-quality Chinese cuisine and intimate dining experience. While the limited selection might be a drawback for some, it is precisely this focus on a smaller range of dishes that ensures the superior taste and quality that Magnolia Buffet prides itself on. It’s a testament to the philosophy that sometimes, less truly is more, especially when it means enjoying some of the best Chinese food in Columbia, SC.“
“The absolute BEST SUSHI I've ever eaten. I don't care that I have to drive from Sumter to pick it up and take it back. It is very well worth it! The woman that prepares the sushi and takes orders (I'm assuming this is the owner but I could be wrong) is so kind, patient, and wicked fast! I couldn't recommend this place enough.“
“I've been eating Sushi for decades. My obsession began while living in Seattle in the early to mid 90s. Arguably the best city in America for 5-star sushi restaurants. But from Seattle to L.A. to Miami or New York, who would've thought my best sushi experience would come from a small, locally owned restaurant in a tiny strip center in the outskirts of Blythewood, SC. Wasabi's too chef, Chris, is a master chef with skill one rarely finds outside of top10 cities. From what's on the menu, to custom preparing your wishes into masterful works of culinary art - Wasabi is now the standard by which I will forever judge sushi.“
“Passing through Columbia, we needed a quick but good stop to fill our stomachs. Menkoi Ramen House met our expectations. We wanted something Asian, preferably authentic. We liked that it was a quick serve and eat place, and that the ramen and rice balls were pretty good. Their prices are reasonable as well, and the service was good and friendly. Simple food and easy eats. Would recommend.“
“Went with some friends. Delicious teriyaki chicken! But, they don't have yum yum sauce. I love yum yum, but they don't have it. Their spicy mayo tastes nothing like it either. But, service was quick and our waiter was friendly.Kid-friendliness: Menu just for kids!“
“This place is a hidden gem.I’ve eaten at “5 star” restaurants that don’t even compare to the level of quality of food as produced here. The Owner and Probably Chef is a master of his craft. Although we didn’t get to speak to anyone but our server, the food came promptly, every dish warped you into Japan, and the atmosphere made you forget you’re in Columbia, SC. Just for a moment. If you’re a sushi fan, just order the combination plate A, B, C.Let the master of his craft woo you.The Mochi is also out of this world. This should cost between 40-50 per person.Eat in, the way it should be. There should be a line around the block to eat here.“
“My son and I dined here on a Saturday evening. Food was reasonably priced with large portions. I've heard the downtown location is better, but I've never been so can't compare. The Sandhills location met our expectations and we will definitely try it again for takeout.“
“We came on one of the first couple days Teriyaki Madness was open, and we are now huge fans. Friendly and helpful staff made us feel welcome right away. The spicy teriyaki chicken and orange chicken are each tasty, and I’m looking forward to trying a spicy orange chicken in a future visit. Brown rice (often dry or bland at other restaurants) was cooked perfectly and provided a soft, flavorful contrast to the orange chicken. Yakisoba noodles covered with spicy teriyaki chicken was equally good. These folks know how to make food! The teriyaki sauce is truly something special — sweet and savory perfectly balanced. We look forward to more teriyaki meals from this spot in future!“
“Waitress was amazing. Decor is beautiful. I was a little hesitant to try brunch b/c dinner lacked flavor. However, the brunch menu is creative & one of the best brunches I've had in some time. Everything was flavorful & well seasoned. Mimosas were also great!“
“I don’t have photos for proof because I devoured it all. Kirby-style. My husband and I busted butt all week on our new home in the area and decided to do nothing but Hibachi and video games for the day. Edo Hibachi made dreams happen. We read, and laughed, at some of the reviews and decided to proceed - but with caution. Husband placed the order and was back with our mouth-watering buffet within 30 minutes. Nothing was amiss. All of our sauces right there, right next to our chopsticks and ginger dressings. Every single one. They successfully completed the ultimate challenge that not even the local Chik-fil-a could handle. The Godzilla sushi roll was warm, delicious, and drizzled perfectly, even as a to-go. The spring rolls practically melted in our mouths. The hibachi was steaming and the rice was perfectly sticky. You won’t believe me but it’s true, there was even a cucumber in my little house salad. Everything was so fresh and the proportions were enough to sustain a whole evening of HellDivers 2. After gluttonously eating it all I hesitantly inquired about the bill for this mouth-watering, guilty indulgence and I was left Baffled it was all under $100.Thank you Edo Hibachi for making our glorious day of video games and fantastic take-out one that would put even a college dorm kid to shame. We absolutely will be returning.“
“Tsunami is our go-to for sushi happy hour in Columbia! We always get the 3 roll special and a teryaki special to split. HUGE portions and always fresh and tasting delicious! I definitely recommend dining in next time you have a sushi craving!“
“We were here for my birthday on April 3. Frankie was our cook and he was phenomenal! I ran out of tea and he went and had a waiter get me a refill. He was very personal in conversation. He made sure we were satisfied and had a great experience. We’ve been here many times but Frankie is the best we have ever had!“
“Easily the best wings I had since I moved to Columbia, and I came from Atlanta so that should tell you a lot. The owner told me if I wasn’t satisfied she’d give me my money back and I can say I woulda paid twice if I had to! That good. And the prices were fair.“
“Great place to grab snacks or food. It’s been years since I’ve traveled to Japan and it was cool seeing drinks, snacks and ramen that I was eating in Japan. I ordered some food here it was great. I ordered the Gyu Don and Mackerel Bento. Average plate is $8 great price’s. I highly recommend this place. Prices for the snack might be a little elevated but they are legit snacks from Japan. Check this spot out!“
