“My husband and I are huge fans of Asian food and this is hands-down one of our favorite places in the whole city. The bar and cocktails are fantastic, we usually order dirty martinis which are always spot on - so much so that we asked them for the exact dry vermouth they use and have tried unsuccessfully to replicate. We almost always order the delish dumplings in the black vinegar sauce. We also tried some of the items off of their new menu. But the best part about this place is the atmosphere - music is on point and curated by the owner and we always sit at the bar and chat with the manager and the bartender who always remember us even if it has been a few months, ask us questions about our lives, and give us fabulous service. Highly recommended.“

We sat in the courtyard AB’s was placed under the above heater. We started smelling gas and the heat never reached the table area. So we were freezing. The appetizers were wonderful. The couple got seated next to us ten minutes after us and received their food first. Was told about different and best food options and a dessert menu. We were not given either. Bbq in the shrimp and grits was over powering any other flavor. Husband got fish and grits and it was excellent. Not a 0 but I’m in no hurry to go back or recommend to anyone else. Ruined my anniversary to be honest….“

The peel & eat shrimp so plump and served ice cold I have craved them since I had them. The service was above and beyond. The atmosphere encouraged private chatter but also conversation with next table easily. Friendly and cheerful and above all excellent food served with smiles, suggestions, and ease. I will never visit Charleston again without making sure to dine here. (Do not eat the soup. I actually sent it back to the kitchen. We live in Virginia and planning this event from two states away was daunting, but Eli made planning flawless and easy, answering every nervous mother of the bride question promptly with so much interest and attention to detail. We had some food allergies that were handled with ease. The food was delicious, the private dining area was perfect, the patio cozy. The service was impeccable. This was such a memorable experience from planning to the bride and groom's send off. Perfect in every way!“

“Excellent tapas experience on Valentine’s Day. We got the prosciutto-wrapped dates, sobrasada with chorizo, patatas bravas, and a grouper skewer to go along with a bottle of Tempranillo. The sobrasada and tomato sauce that came with the patatas were standouts in my opinion.

It’s very small inside and the tables are very close together. It’s not too loud or anything, but perhaps a tad cramped. Regardless, I wouldn’t hesitate to return.“

“We had our Christmas Day meal at Poogan's Porch and it was delicious! The service was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was very good. They did not server their standard menu as it was Christmas. I had the Fritters, Beef Loin, and Banana Pudding. My dining partner had the She Crab Soup, Turkey Platter, and Pecan Pie. She said it was by far the best She Crab she has ever had and the Turkey was moist and delicious (tough to do with all white meat). My fritters were one of the best bites I have ever had. The Bacon Jam really made the dish shine. The beef loin was very classic Christmas and was fantastic. Banana pudding was one of the better I have ever had. We went back on Saturday to get one togo! Looking forward on trying Poogan's Porch again soon. We want to try the brunch menu! This place gets very busy and is in a super cute, but very old house. I would recommend reservations.“

“Amazing food! My family and I went here yesterday during our trip to Myrtle Beach based on some recommendations I saw online...and this place exceeded all expectations!! All of us were beyond satisfied with our meals. Delicious flavors and good portion sizes too! We said we will come back to Myrtle Beach (from PA) just to come back here 😂. Great service, nice atmosphere, and the food is absolutely amazing! We wanted to get photos of our meals but we were so excited to dig in when it came out that we forgot all about photos! “We recently visited Charleston and forgot to make dinner reservations, that’s when we happed on to The Royal Tern. Despite no reservations, they gladly seated us at a great table. The food was exquisite, everything from the Raw Bar, the fried shrimp, to the halibut. The halibut was prepared perfectly and was so unique; the ingredients worked together in delicious synergy. My cocktail was on-point, too. As a home cook, being able to watch the chefs prepare the meals was fascinating. Mad respect for their craft. Met one of the owners as he was making his rounds in the dining room, and he was a lovely person. He even printed a map w/shortcuts for us since traffic is so bad in the Charleston area. Highly recommend, will definitely be back next time we’re in town.“

“First time visit recommended by nephew. Great food, great server and prompt service. Always try to be considerate in not overstaying our welcome when people are waiting to be seated. We finished our lunch having been there a total of one hour , enjoying talk with nephew who we hadn’t seen in months when another employee rudely and abruptly said “so, are you ready to settle up?” Never have we felt like we were being ejected from a restaurant! And the real rub is there were at least 3 empty tables and a booth in our seating area. We three were so stunned by her rude manners, we politely gave her our card, (and she took the liberty of pre-selecting a 22% tip which we gladly gave our server)paid our bill and left - NEVER TO RETURN!“
