“My 2.5 year old and I went into this location today after an appointment she had at a local hospital. We live over an hour away and I haven’t had Gus’s in over 2 years. I was so excited to come. The service is very friendly. The food of course is excellent and super fresh! It was raining before we left so I went into the restroom to get my daughter ready to leave. She made the comment that the “toilet was really nice.” which I chuckled so told the staff about it as we were heading out. One of the employees, Lucas, let my daughter hug him at her own will unpromted and gave her a small bear he had attached to his phone. It made her day! If you’re deciding where you want to get some Cajun chicken, please go see them. The chicken is the best and the staff is very kind!“

“I have only eaten at Guthrie’s once. We choose to eat here today and I was pleasantly surprised. The dine in area was clean. Although the lady taking our order was busy with BOTH the drive in window and dine in area receiving orders, she was pleasant. All 3 ladies were conversing but were not loud or obnoxious like most restaurant employees elsewhere. The condiments were stocked. The manager actually refilled both my drinks and had a smile. This 3 lady team needs to be recognized. You only see teams like this at CFA nowadays! I know that’s just my opinion but our lunch visit was wonderful and delicious with HOT food!!! Thank you to all 3 ladies: Brittany, Pricilla and Stephanie. You all were giving Guthrie’s a great vibe!!! ❤️“

“Visited the franchise location in downtown Austin, TX in November 2023 and the Marietta location in Georgia during the summer of 2023.After I read the story, I needed to visit the original location! As a culinary journalist, these are my favorite types of restaurants to document, I love a mom and pop generational establishment.It was a pleasure to meet the granddaughter of the original owners, Gus and Gertrude. She was pleasant and helpful in picking the perfect meal for our family.We went with the 8pc family meal - came with 2 breast, 2 wings. 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks with baked beans, cole slaw and fried green tomatoes.She forewarned us that the flavors are not the same as the franchise flavors. I was a bit scared as I highly enjoyed what I had in Austin. It was such a happy surprise that the chicken here was even better! The skin is much spicier, and the meat was just as juicy.The cole slaw was my favorite side, with the baked beans following and the fried green tomatoes coming in 3rd place.If you enjoy fried chicken, I would definitely recommend a stop at this tried and true TN state staple! Worth the drive and 20min + wait for this legendary chicken!“

“Always a amazing experience when that one manager bree i don’t know if i spelled her name correctly but when she is working always very friendly helpful and food is always fresh and a very friendly worker named katie was super helpful aswell i think they both deserve a raise!! Big props to bree tho sometimes i just get zaxbys because i remember the amazing experience she gave me made sure my food was fresh with extra fry seasoning every time didnt miss any of my extra sauces ever.“

“Although this particular location makes TONS of mistakes OFTEN,they are very KIND and willing to correct them with a smile. The food is usually hot and fresh, they will give you old, cold food every now and then. Just politely ask for a fresh order, or pop it into the microwave. The staff is WONDERFUL!“
