“I came to support a group of students earlier this week to celebrate winning king and queen of the school. First of all let me say the staff was very rude to the administration staff. Even though reservations were made and confirmed and they knew in advance that the students were coming they refused to seat our party and denied the reservations ever being made even after being shown the email messages. The female manager asked for us to wait outside of the restaurant being that it was about 42 degrees that day until the limousine arrived to pick the students back up . The children were dressed in their Sunday best with white dresses and the young boys were in tuxedos and were looking forward to having their luncheon that was awarded to them for their hard work at school. I strongly believe that if the students were not all African American and staff as well they would have treated us differently. I will never ever support nor spend money with Majestic Grill again. I was hurt the way they treated these students who worked oh so hard and were looking forward to what was supposed to be a special day to remember.“

Parking: Depends on time but there is parking because the terrace is on the top floor of a hotel. It is free parking.

“This was an awesome place to have dinner and listen to live music. The music was off the hook, and you could tell the the people eating here were really digging it. They played some really good blues and R&B.

Food was good. I had the Fried Okra, which I couldn't stop eating (although I wish that they were more crispy). For my entree, I had the BB's Famous Lip Smacking Ribs. I thought they were excellent and the meat was truly falling off the bones. The side of beans were also very good.

The restaurant is located right on Beale Street. It's pretty large, and we came prior to a snow storm, so it wasn't hard to find a table. I thought service was okay.

Although the restaurant is pretty commercialized, as a tourist, I thought this was a cool place to listen to music and have some Memphis BBQ.“

“When we go to Memphis we usually dine at this PF Chang’s at least once. We are never disappointed - Food is always Delicious- Drinks top notch- Service Fabulous! Last night we had a party of 9 but was going to be straggling in- they accommodated us nicely. And with that size of party- our Server Charles did an Excellent job- no mix-ups-, all to order! Courteous & friendly! Met the Manager Erik last night as well- made sure we were taken care of at the Bar & at our Table! Til next trip to Memphis!!

“This was our first time there, and we ordered the Ali Baba Special Mixed Grill (for two) and Kibbeh. The food was absolutely delicious, and plentiful. Everything was grilled/cooked beautifully with a perfect amount of spice and flavor. The Kibbeh was beyond delicious! Our server was Hamza and he was very helpful and thoughtful, and we really appreciated his attentive - but not hovering - service! We will definitely be back (soon)!“

“We had a couple of days to be a "tourist" while in the Memphis area. This distillery came up on a search as "places to visit in Memphis". We purchased the tour for Friday afternoon. Cool place, great bar and gift shop. Our tour guide Mary made the tour and tasting enjoyable, and it was fun to learn the history of the family and businesses they ran, and how the distillery came to be. Highly recommend the tour..........and if the tour isn't your thing, sit at the bar and have a cocktail or two, quick friendly service, and the drinks are spot on!! We only wish the products were available in our area. Let's get Old Dominick's in the Houston, TX area please. I'm sure Spec's or Total Wine would be glad to put it on their shelves in our area. (The Original Toddy, and the Cask Strength please!!)“

“We were greeted when we walked in and seated immediately. Brennon was our waitress she told us 9 times her name. She was super friendly. We got western omelet and gumpus breakfast. Coffee and Dr pep. Best coffee I've had. Food came super fast was hot and delicious. It was seasoned great. Hashbrown casserole was amazing. I love cheese. Brenda checked on us frequently until we was ready to go and we had to wait for our check and a to go box. The man from front had to come check on us. Walls filled with vetern stuff and wrote all over. No cushion s in the seats.“

We were there last weekend (10/12/24) and returned this weekend (10/18/24) to enjoy another version of their Wagyu Burgers and Duckhorn Wines. Both weekends, we enjoyed their SUPERB Fried Calamari with a glass of Prisoner Red Blend and a glass of Knights Bridge Chardonnay before our burgers.

The pancake was generously sized (about 10 inches across and 1/2 inch thick) with a soft and chewy texture, though it lacked much flavor on its own. Thankfully, the syrup complemented it well. Overall, the food gives off a "like grandma used to make" vibe, focusing on simplicity over bold flavors.

Service: The service was excellent. All the staff pitched in to check on me, ensuring I was taken care of. The friendliness added to the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. However, the establishment automatically adds a 20% tip to each dine-in order, regardless of the service quality. While you can add more, it feels a bit rigid—good service should earn a good tip, not have it guaranteed.

Atmosphere: The country vibe is undeniable. The interior features dark ceilings, tables, and floors, with moderate lighting during the day that feels slightly dim but cozy. With one booth and about 17 tables inside, the spacing is comfortable without feeling crowded. The outside seating allows dogs, making it a good option for pet owners. The full bar and all-day breakfast menu add to its versatility, whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. However, with only one private bathroom per gender, the morning coffee rush could be challenging.

Summary: Old Whitten Tavern offers a solid country breakfast experience with traditional flavors and a welcoming atmosphere. While the food and service were good, the automatic 20% tip policy might not sit well with those who feel tipping should reflect service quality. Still, it’s a cozy spot worth visiting, especially if you’re seeking classic, no-frills breakfast options.

Parking: The parking lot is shared with multiple other businesses, so during heavy traffic times it could be tough to find a spot near the restaurant.

Kid-friendliness: Though it has a full bar, it is very kid friendly. The bar area is smaller, opening up more to the dine in experience.“
