“I ate there for the first time this week and I have to say it was one of the finest meals I’ve ever eaten. Everything was cooked to perfection in some of the most delicious sauces I’ve had. Cameron was our server and he was helpful and friendly and we liked him very much. Be sure to ask for him. Hate it took me so long to go there and can’t wait to go back.“

“I came to support a group of students earlier this week to celebrate winning king and queen of the school. First of all let me say the staff was very rude to the administration staff. Even though reservations were made and confirmed and they knew in advance that the students were coming they refused to seat our party and denied the reservations ever being made even after being shown the email messages. The female manager asked for us to wait outside of the restaurant being that it was about 42 degrees that day until the limousine arrived to pick the students back up . The children were dressed in their Sunday best with white dresses and the young boys were in tuxedos and were looking forward to having their luncheon that was awarded to them for their hard work at school. I strongly believe that if the students were not all African American and staff as well they would have treated us differently. I will never ever support nor spend money with Majestic Grill again. I was hurt the way they treated these students who worked oh so hard and were looking forward to what was supposed to be a special day to remember.“

We had the chicken lettuce wrap, fried green beans, pork fried dumplings, dynamite roll, northern style ribs and egg drop soup. There was plenty of food for three of us. Matthew, our waiter was awesome and provided excellent service. We definitely will visit this location again when we’re in Memphis.“

“My wife and I spent two nights in Memphis recently. we ate at Blues City Cafe two nights in a row. The first night we had the BBQ ribs, and they were the best I've ever had. The restaurant was so good we went back the second night and had the best ribeye steak I've ever had in my entire life. If you're in the Memphis area, make sure you go to Blues City Cafe. Today, I’m sharing my experience at Char Restaurant, located on Highland Street in Memphis. This is a fine dining restaurant, and I chose it to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We made a reservation for two, and everything from the moment we arrived was smooth and welcoming.

We were seated promptly, and the atmosphere was elegant and relaxing, just as you’d expect from a fine dining establishment. The staff were courteous and professional. I don’t recall the name of our server, but he took excellent care of us throughout the evening.

🍽️ What We Ordered:
Fried Chicken (Main Course) – Served with vegetables and gravy, this dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the presentation was spot on.
Shrimp and Grits with French Fries – My friend ordered this and mentioned it was the best she’s ever had. The shrimp were well-cooked, and the grits were creamy and flavorful.
Blueberry Banana Pudding – This dessert was a delightful surprise. I had asked the server to bring it out as a birthday surprise, and he did so perfectly — bringing it out when she wasn’t looking, which made the moment even more special.
💬 Final Thoughts:
We had a wonderful time celebrating, and my friend truly enjoyed her special day. I really appreciate the hospitality and attention to detail shown by the Char team. The food, service, and ambiance all came together to create a memorable experience.

We’re definitely planning to return soon to explore more of the menu.

“Really good experience. Valet parked then seated immediately, even though we were 10 mins early for reservation. Greeted by server immediately. Multiple servers came by to fill water, clear water , etc and they all were very pleasant.

Celebrated an anniversary and the staff had a card, a rose, and little hearts all over the table. Every staff member that came by wished us a happy anniversary. Wife loved it.

Food was very good. Steaks were thick and tender. Au gratin potatoes were a huge hit. The capital grille old fashioned was excellent. Service was above and beyond. Great experience.

Our reservation was for 6pm, around 7pm all the lights dimmed in our section which instantly made a more intimate setting. Our next reservation will be closer to 7pm.“

I was served by Shannon C who is friendly, polite, professional, courteous, and has a GREAT sense of humor, so make sure to ask for Shannon C. The decorations on the Wall and elsewhere is Cool and Funky. The whole Menu has good selections. I ordered the Steak Burger with Mushrooms, Onions and Gravy, Eggs with Coffee that is delicious. “We visited Chez Philippe in December for a birthday celebration and chose the seven-course tasting menu with wine pairings. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, polished, and attentive. We were welcomed with complimentary champagne, which was a lovely way to start the evening.

The ambience is elegant, European, and very refined. The presentation of each course was beautiful — every dish looked like a work of art. While the food was good, it wasn’t especially memorable for the price point, but the overall experience, service, and setting still made it a special night.

Since the birthday was noted on the reservation, this felt like a place that could have gone a little above and beyond with a small celebratory touch — even a candle or a simple birthday dessert would have made the evening feel more personal. We did receive a small take-home treat, which was a nice gesture.
