“My in laws are currently visiting us from England, and tonight we decided to take them to Outback for dinner. We were hoping for a good meal and a nice night out together, but the experience we ended up having was genuinely one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in years.

First, the food was absolutely fantastic. We had a mixture of steaks and chicken at the table, and everything was cooked perfectly. Everyone loved their meal, and there really wasn't a single thing we could complain about.

But the person who truly made the entire experience was our server, Jonathan.

I've been going out to restaurants for my entire adult life, and I can genuinely say Jonathan was the best server I've had in probably the last 15 years.

He was incredibly kind, personable, attentive, and just naturally good with people. It never felt like he was putting on the typical customer service personality you sometimes get at restaurants. He was just genuinely friendly and seemed to actually enjoy talking to us.

He connected with me personally over my time in the military, and when he found out my in laws were visiting from England, he immediately made them feel welcome. We were all genuinely surprised by how knowledgeable he was about different countries, cultures, and food. He was able to have a real conversation with them about England and where they were from, and he actually listened and showed interest in what they had to say.

That meant a lot to us, especially with them being so far from home.

What impressed me even more was that while he was talking with us and making the experience so personal, the actual service was still flawless. Our drinks were refilled without us having to ask, our food came out quickly, he checked on us regularly without constantly interrupting us, and we never felt rushed. Everything just flowed naturally.

Jonathan is genuinely the definition of what great customer service should be.

My in laws haven't stopped talking about the experience since we left. They're here visiting from another country, so for them to walk away talking as much about the person who served them as they were about the food really says something.

I sincerely hope the management at this location recognizes the kind of employee they have in Jonathan. In my opinion, he is exactly the type of person who should be training others on customer experience. I could also easily see him being an excellent manager because he clearly understands something that can't always be taught. People remember how you make them feel.

Tonight we felt welcomed, comfortable, looked after, and like Jonathan genuinely cared that our family had a great evening.

The food was excellent, but Jonathan turned a good dinner into an experience my family will remember long after my in laws return home to England.

“We had an outstanding dining experience last night at Ruth's. The atmosphere was very laid-back and with a classical feel to it. The art deco is nice, and the proximity to the River Walk and convention center was perfect.

Our server Jonathan was an absolute legend, as he was extremely friendly, professional and attentive. He gave us some great recommendations, and even though we had some small issues with the food, he took care of everything quickly.

My friends share the large 40 once Porterhouse was absolutely fantastic. My filet was very undercooked, but the manager John Kelly was fast to apologize and even took it off the bill. A very nice gesture from him.

The general manager Frank even came to the table to apologize. He runs a tight ship, and was also extremely professional and very friendly. Definitely not the cheapest meal in town, but an incredible dining experience!“

“We went to the Saltgrass Steak House on the River walk, San Antonio over the weekend. We ask to be seated outside, river walk view. The waitress comes to our table with two plates and asks if we are waiting for two more people. We are all confused because there are four of us and we are seated at a four top, but we say no, our whole party is there. The waitress seems confused and blames the error on bad information and walks off. The waitress comes back with 2 more plates and we ask for water while we look over the drink menu. We get our waters and the waitress takes our food order and that is the last that we see of her for about an hour. Someone else brings my salad, about 15 minutes later the other 3 in my party get their salads/ soup. I waited to eat with my family. Our food comes maybe 15-20 minutes later. I ask if we can have more water because at this point we have not been able to order anything else to drink. A third person brings enough water for 2 people and is like oops let me go get another pitcher. They come back to fill the other two glasses. Then the second waiter puts a third bottle of water on our table as a just in case. At this point I have cut my steak and half of it is fat. So I ask if this is normal and he goes on about how ribeyes are the fattest piece of meat in a condescending tone. I am pointing out that this thing is 1/2 fat, I haven't eaten any at this point because it is straight fat at the top. he offers to bring me a leaner option. I should have called it here and just said no thank you, buy I went with okay. He takes my plate and I see him showing the manager. My family continues to eat, they finish their food. Our original waitress finally circles back around.... think we haven't seen this lady since she took our order and still no drinks. She leans across my husband to say that she heard what happened and was I ready to order a drink. She only acknowledges me and walks off. I look at everyone in my party and say that I guess that I am drinking alone as I'm laughing. The waitress comes back to tell me that they don't have the drink that I ordered. I name a different drink.... I am seriously thinking that she will realize her error and ask everyone in my party for their drink order. She turns and walks away again. I told me mom I feel like we are in the sixth sense movie. Only I can see the people that I am sitting with... Another 15-20 minutes goes by and she comes back and says, they didn't bring your drink? I say no, they didn't, you can cancel my drink and food at this point. It has been over 40 minutes since the second person took my plate away, my family finished eating a long time ago. She goes to the bar and grabs my drink, comes between me and my husband, sets it down and says well at least you'll get something. My mom's jaw drops and she repeats the waitress out of pure shock. I just want to leave at this point. She does bring my food in a to go bag. She also brings the to go box for my mom, but gives it to me. Again, they are invisible. The waitress then attempts to explain our bill to my husband... we removed a steak, added a steak and drink. Oops, wrong bill. Let's try that again, nevermind right bill. My husband is always zen so he just wanted to leave too. I felt terrible because it was my birthday dinner. I picked the restaurant and while the entire interaction was entertaining, my husband was feeling like it ruined my birthday dinner. I ate my steak in bed at the hotel.“

The salad bar and cold meats were delicious. But the cooked meats were INCREDIBLE! The waiters who bought them round to us were approachable and they came around so often even when we turned our signs to red! The steaks were so delicious.
