“The staff at Great American Cookies (1400 Shoal Creek #110) delivered delicious cookies and turned a lost bet into pure comedy gold! My brother Mitch sashayed in, looking like a Cookie Fairy. A bearded man decked out in a frilly pink tutu, a flamboyant feather boa, and tights! They had him prancing across the street like a giddy flamingo, twirling with exaggerated flair, striking absurd poses, and even curtseying with a flourish!

Mitch threw himself into the silliness, pointing his toes with dainty precision and strutting with a sway that left us all wondering if he was secretly loving his bearded ballerina gig a little too much—way too comfortable in that embarrassing getup! The staff roared with laughter over his spot-on toe point, eagerly asking if he’d return again, and posting those hilarious pics online to flaunt their fun-loving store spirit.

And let’s not forget the actual cookies, because they’re the reason we’d come back again. These treats are next-level: soft, gooey, and baked fresh on the spot. Everything was packaged beautifully, stayed fresh for the delivery Mitch had to make (still in that tutu, bless him), and tasted like heaven. Prices are great, and the store’s spotless, with the staff’s infectious humor keeping the vibe pure sugary fun. Five stars for the amazing treats and for helping with our pink princess!

I had a matcha latte with a chocolate chip strawberry pastry and a filled chocolate donut. I really liked the strawberry pastry. The donut and matcha were too sweet for me. I asked for a cup of water and that helped. I will definitely come back to try other pastries and drinks.“

We are huge fans of the red velvet and chocolate chocolate chip which pair beautifully with their cream cheese frosting and are always so moist and wonderful. However, the customer service is what really sets this location apart. I was greeted warmly by smiling faces who were eager to help and watched several customers get in and out super quick while I was there. I had a special request and the owners were happy to try to make it happen and the results were better than I could have hoped. “We were on the hunt for a traditional Brazilian cake for the groom’s cake. We looked and looked until we found Jana with Marvelous Cakes & Pastries. I picked up a personalized tasting box from her and brought it home. After one bite of the peaches and cream cake, Rodrigo knew that she was the one (He said: “That’s It”). We had tried so many other bakeries, but it just wasn’t right. Jana is from Brazil and does things as they do 'at home.’ This was a special piece of Brazil that was a great touch to the evening. Jana was amazing to work with and just look at the cake – it tastes even better. It didn’t last but thirty minutes after cutting the cakes. I have already ordered from Jana again for other events. Go check her out, she will blow your socks off with her flavors and is so easy to work with.“

The Up North bun was unlike anything we’ve ever had before, but it’s reminiscent of a waffle served with ice cream (plus chocolate & caramel sauces) - absolutely delicious! We also tried their iced mocha, which had a strong espresso flavor and no sugar - while the sugar didn’t dissolve super well, what did work was adding some of the melted ice cream … yummy! “We stopped by Melody’s Macarons Grapevine Mills after our visit to Meow Wolf Grapevine this afternoon. Spur of the moment stop, didn't have any expectations whatsoever. Oh my goodness, the macarons are AMAZING! We bought six different ones, and tonight we tried the Strawberry Nutella, Chocolate with Sprinkles, and Peanut Butter Cup. The flavors were outstanding, but even more impressive was the unmatched texture compared to every other macarons I've ever eaten. You could feel the ever-so-thin outer edge as you bit through, followed by a slightly dense, chewy center with just the right amount of filling. This will now become a regular part of our periodic visits to Meow Wolf. It's a good thing for us that they're not closer to our house or I wouldn't keep losing weight.“
