Came here solo during a work trip. Was sat immediately and brought chips and salsa. I always order fajitas so I knew what I wanted. I’m not joking when I say I entered this establishment at 7:00pm and was sat, ordered, ate and left by 7:20pm. The service was probably the best I have ever received at any restaurant and the food came out super super fast. Not to mention it was absolutely amazing and especially for the price. El Gallo is one of those traditional family places that makes Houston great; the kind where guests are treated like regulars even if it's your first visit. This was ours, and we loved the thin cantina style chips, creamy salsa (not typically words you would see together - and fantastic on top of the cheese enchiladas), the margaritas, and rice, to name a few basic staples. My wife and I had eaten there a few times, and the food is really good. I would usually order the fajita and avocado burrito covered with queso sauce, and that was really good! Service was great too.
