Sushi On Post Oak is a highly recommended sushi restaurant in Houston that offers a calm and elegant atmosphere, especially on weekend afternoons when it’s not busy. Despite being connected to a sports bar, crossing through the entrance transports guests into a pristine, well-maintained space with clean bar tops and tables, and a dining room that is generally pristine with minor chipping on chairs. The restaurant is praised for its fresh, high-quality, and delicious food, with many reviews highlighting the sushi's originality and the well-presented dishes. Popular items include the Kanpai Roll, lobster crab puffs, tuna tartare Tots, and the larger omakase, which features a caviar bite in place of uni when unavailable. The food decorum is nice with pristine plating, and some dishes like the lobster crab puffs and tuna tartare were especially well done, balancing flavors and serving sizes.
The restaurant’s staff is friendly and attentive, providing excellent customer service, with suggestions for rolls and drinks like Lychee Martini’s, and accommodating dietary needs such as gluten-free options, which is appreciated by those with allergies. Service is prompt, with attentive staff noticing when plates are empty and offering space to enjoy the meal comfortably. The bar area is well-maintained, and the drinks, including Toki highball and peach bitters, are highly rated, though some reviews note minor issues like the temperature of the nigiri or stained menus. Overall, Sushi On Post Oak is considered a gem among Houston sushi spots, with repeat visits planned due to its quality, atmosphere, and attentive service, making it a top choice for sushi lovers in the area.
