Murphy's Deli

Nice quaint cafe style deli. They have daily specials which makes it a better lunch over a fast food place at times.I've walked over and have eaten here, made to order and was good.

It is surprisingly difficult to find good, healthy food in the midst of the Houston medical center complex. Murphy's is on the 2nd floor of the Skurlock Building and is well worth the effort to find it. A buffet offers dozens of salads and spreads including tabouli, hummus, chicken salad, and more. There are also a couple of different soups and many prepackaged cookies, baklava, and other delights. The real star is the menu of freshly made deli sandwiches. What a pleasant surprise to find such a nice deli amongst all the nearby businesses. The sandwiches and salads are made on the spot with fresh ingredients and are much better than most fast food franchises in the area. The staff are friendly and helpful. I just discovered this place and will make the five minute walk when the weather is nice. When it's been cold, I drive and have always found a parking space.
