“I came for their soft opening years ago and even though we’ve been back many times to Uchi it wasn’t until recently that we went back for my Wife’s birthday. Ever since moving to the suburbs we don’t get to have as many in town date nights anymore so when we do we want them to be special.

Uchiko delivered! Their sushi is always fresh and delicious and they have some new inventions that are really mind blowing.

On this trip we stuck to some classics uni, engawa (my absolute favorite! Yellowtail, and hot rock. We added some new additions the quail and tiger cry.

The tiger cry was a unique addition with it being crunchy and light.

For dessert we got the classic fried milk and added in the mochi churros. Wow! The mochi churros might have overtaken the fried milk!

The service was always spot on as each dish comes out with a great explanation.

She was super nice and gave us awesome drink recommendations. We tried a bunch of nigiri salmon, hamachi, foie gras scallop and everything tasted fresh and really good including the truffle fries. The ramen was solid and comforting, and the bread pudding for dessert was so good, definitely worth getting. Overall just a great experience with good food, good drinks, and great service. “I went here with my Japanese friend, we ordered sushi lunch, chirashi sushi, agedashi-tofu and isobeage( fish cake tempura). Everything was delicious and we both were very happy and satisfied! “I walked in and asked someone nearby for a menu .He said menus are online rudely and walked off . I stood up there for a few minutes no one came back up to greet me or take my order . As soon as some Caucasian people walk in a man came out back greeted them & seated them all while I was just standing there . I just left respectfully . I was shocked that this place of business only caters to certain races not the African Americans and I normally dine in at the Mexican Restaraunt but I seen that a new spot opened up and I wanted to support . My family has been̈ treated very nice at the Mexican restataunt in the same shopping center everytime we go Customer Service is superb . This Educated African American will happily spend her black dollars where it is appreciated .You all need to take notes on welcoming everyone to your place of business regardless of color .“

“I had a great time celebrating my birthday. The drinks were amazing. The service was excellent. Everyone said they like their food. I had an issue with mine. I got the lobster and filet mignon roll and it was pretty pricey, and it was not good. The only good part that was good was the fried Lobster. The roll itself was not tasty at all. I will be back, but I was disappointed. I wanted to treat myself.“

“My boyfriend found this gem of a restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Immediately upon arrival, the entire staff welcomes you with a smile and a traditional Japanese greeting. Everyone is highly skilled in their trade, from the waitress, to the mixologist, to the chef, and to the chef assistants. Every single staff member is absolutely amazing. Their attention to detail is immaculate. Their chef, Yoshi made us feel right at home, with a warm smile, and he shared with us so much of his knowledge from Japan. Not only did I savor and enjoy every last bite but I also learned so much! Yoshi’s Japanese cuisine is literal art, and he mesmerized us by his unique blend of flavors. Every bite was unique and delicious. The chef assistants handled every course with precision and care, and worked amazingly fast. It was as if we were also getting a cooking show at dinner. Truly an art form. Our waitress also left us speechless by how knowledgeable she is and her skills to memorize every single course that was handed to us was just amazing. Their mixologist made a special mocktail customized just for me as I didn’t know exactly what I wanted. Our lovely waitress asked me what I was looking for in a drink, so I told her something savory, citrusy, and not overly sweet. With those few words, the mixologist created a special blend of flavors to create the perfect mockail. Honestly, the best mocktail I’ve ever had! If I could give them 100 stars I would. This was my son’s favorite restaurant when he was in medical school and always loves to return when visiting Houston . “Yall, this place is so good, especially for the price. They have happy hour food and drink specials everyday and the service is always amazing. Kim, Donte, and Anthony are always so attentive, knowledgeable, and sweet. The shishito peppers and crab puffs are good. The baked mussels are *chefs kiss* amazing! Volcano roll and garlicky tuna are superb! And lastly they have some of the best spicy ponzu sauce I’ve ever had. (Also the music is really good here so A+++ for atmosphere)“

“I was recommended to go to Haii Kei by Rosie from the C. Baldwin Hotel after I told her I was looking for a really good steak, and she was absolutely right. From the moment we walked in, the place had a great vibe. The atmosphere was beautiful, modern but relaxed, and the energy in the room just felt right.

The drinks were on point, especially the Ube Espresso Martini… it was phenomenal. For dinner, I had the Wangyu Steak and the Thai Shrimp, and both were outstanding. We finished it off with the Ube Cheesecake (picture below), which was the perfect ending.

But what really blew me away was the service. Our server, Monsarrat, was incredible. We even told her at the table how good of a job she was doing. The attention to detail, timing, and genuine conversation made the whole night feel special.

Between the food, drinks, atmosphere, and service, this was easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. I’ll definitely be back.“
