“This place is your classic hole in the wall. Located north of Brownsville in Alito, Texas on the side of the highway. It has been in the owners family for about 100 years. However, it started as a post office a bus stop and a general store. Now it is a chill spot to get good food with friends and have a variety of cold craft beers. Definitely worth checking out whether you’re a local or passing through. It is one several awards for their culinary offerings as well. It’s not your typical burger. For this visit, I had the turkey burger. As you can see in my picture. Along with onion rings and a full set up. Very tasty. Definitely come in and check out the flying peg the next time you’re in the area.“

I am always served by Dani when I stop by, very enthusiastic about her job, her skills, a great waitress and very helpful. I recommend the place and the food as it is my personal favorite. “Celebrated my B'Day here.Their waiter was very courteous and friendly. Any thing you order is great. Waiting time was reasonable. Biscuits are huge bigger than my hand. Fresh coffee , they made another pot of coffee as we loved it so much . Very clean environment.I'd give it 10 Stars , if I could !Kid-friendliness: Waiter actually talked to the 5 kids . “This local Mexican restaurant has been around for decades and it's a popular place for locals and visitors alike, since it's on the main road and on the way to South Padre Island. We decided to give it a try on a Friday since now they are open Thursday and Friday until 8p.m. instead of closing at 4p.m. I got the entomatadas plate with rice and beans and the overall flavor was pretty good. My husband got the fish plate that comes with salad and French fries. Depending on how much fish they have on any given day, they have an all you can eat fish deal. Our server Erika was friendly and helpful. Julia the owner was around and took a few minutes to talk to us. We went pretty early, 4p.m., so there weren't that many people there but as we were leaving, more people were starting to come in. The atmosphere is somewhat quiet and everything looked clean. Too bad they don't currently have a liquor license and they ran out of flan, which I wanted to try.“

“We found this place while on a bike ride and stopped off for a beverage. Upon entering, the music was very loud. However, when we asked to have it turned down, they did so promptly. That's why only 4 stars. But the food was fabulous, and the wait staff were superb. They truly took care of our every need. We will definitely go back AND bring more of our friends! The stuffed jalapeños were fabulous! That's what I want to go back for. The shrimp tacos were extra good, too.“

“My husband and I discovered this gem on vacation last summer. It's farm to table freshness was incredible and welcome after eating out at other restaurants on the beach. We were so enchanted with their food that we returned two more times (brunch and dinner) during our stay in South Padre. It's about a thirty minute drive from the island. It overlooks a "pond" and is very close to the Brownsville cultural center I.e. Art museum and Zoo. Parking could be better but all in all it was worth the drive, the menu is amazing, the atmosphere serene and the staff were friendly and courteous. I highly recommend eating here and tell all my friends about it. I'm looking forward to my next trip to SPI so I can visit again.“
