“My brother had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. We finally made the trip and it was worth it. Let me start by saying the service here was great. The young ladies that assisted my family were great. They were patient and very accommodating. The restaurant had plenty of seating and was very clean. The music playing was upbeat and appropriate for all ages. Most of our orders were from the 'made to order' section of the menu. It didn't take an unreasonable amount of time to come out. Everything was hot and tasted pretty fresh. The foods flavor was so good. We all enjoyed our choices. My mom said her oxtails were delicious. I enjoyed all the sides, the Mac and cheese was probably my favorite. I didn't like that the tails were on the shrimp but most places do this. The sauce included on the catfish and shrimp dish was amazing. It made the dish even better. But it was also good without it. We ordered dessert as well. I forgot what I had but I believe it was fried pie I think. It was good but the older I've gotten the less I enjoy sweets so it was a little too sweet for my "adult" taste buds We also had the non fried version which everyone enjoyed. My brother tried a half and half cookie that was good as well. Overall I definitely plan to come back and enjoy a good meal here again when I'm in Texas.“
“Went on Monday night had the chicken & shrimp Alfredo fettuccini, the green beans w/turkey, okra& tomato’s everything was good. My friend had a chitterlings omg they seasoned & cooked to where it makes its own gravy. Loved it the collard greens & yams was so good seasoned just right. The oxtails could’ve been better no season the gravy didn’t even have a taste . The next day went back tried the tilapia w/ Alfredo sauce over rice, broccoli w/ onions & red bell peppers loved it and cabbage & roll all that was so good. My daughter loved oxtails so hers was seasoned good but some were a little tough. Margaritas were good as well. The portions are definitely giving 2:1 You will not eat all, you’ll have another serving for later. They definitely worth it.“
“Came here with a friend of mine and all I can say is wow. I'm still sitting here full from the catfish and shrimp basket. I would have taken a picture but most of it is gone. Food was good. Red koolaid tasted good too, not all super sweet like some of these places. The customer service here is great, super friendly and even cracked a few jokes with us. Great little mom and pop for lunch or dinner. I'll be back..“
“This is a very hole in the wall, no frills restaurant. It is very old school and you order and take your food to go. Seems like one of the few actual late night places (closes at 3am). The owner, I assume ms betty, has a very get shit done attitude, which I enjoyed. She RUNS the restaurant and will tell you what's up. I'm sure her attitude can be off putting but she chatted with me and gave my partner and I free sodas. Turns out she's an immigrant from Macau and had been in Houston for 35 years, so hats off to her! Foodwise, they have burgers, wings, and various dinner platters all at very affordable prices. I got chili cheese fries and a hamburger and both were excellent. The fries were crisp with nacho cheese sauce and chili on top and the burger was very large and tasty. Definitely a spot I'll be returning to when I have cravings in the middle of the night!“
“I came on Easter Sunday. The restaurant was packed and Mama herself was a little busy but she handled each guest with grace and care. Though there was a wait, we all patiently waited for our food and it came out hot and delicious. My fried pork chops smothered in gravy were so delicious, just like my Nana used to make them. I’ll be back next Sunday.“
“This is a really neat place! Came in town with my family and they wanted to try a new restaurant they heard about. We loved everything but had some disconnect with the catfish . They were so pleasant and willing to re-make. Even after the re-make we still didn’t like and they offered us to change our order which was very accommodating. The young lady never stopped smiling or being helpful. The cashier kept checking on us and even the owner came out to apologize. We expressed our concerns and he was he very willing to listen. He was super nice and very professional. This place deserves everything and more for exemplify such great service!“
“I was craving grits and I'm picky about grits. They were so good! I also got the chicken and waffle sandwich. The chicken was thick and juicy and the waffle was perfectly cooked. And it had crispy bacon. Not floppy bacon. I got it delivered to my airport office and it showed up hot and enough food for lunch too. Definitely ordering again!“

Hearty meals prepared fresh daily.The staff here was on point with service, the prices are fair in these ridiculous times and you get quality plates not struggle plates... Even the cornbread was prepared by a soul food professional. When you walk in this spot, expect nothing less than A+ service like the south was known for in the Renaissance Days.“
“5 stars for me!! Ordered to go: Salmon Bites, Chicken, Spaghetti, MAC, Cabbage, Yams. When I tell you EVERYTHING was TOP TIER!!! Even the cornbread was good! And not many places have good cornbread!!!Definitely making that drive again, highly recommended!!“
